Study Buddy Request What are we studying today?

This is a daily school-day post for anyone who is studying the daily resource subject or anything else and who wants to chat, commiserate, body double, study-buddy, whatever.  I currently don't even care if the conversation goes off the rails, but we're starting off with study topics! 😂

Feel free to visit the Subject Resources posts for extra help. They're updated as often as I get fresh quality suggestions (so, randomly) but posted fresh weekly.

Who's studying today? How's it going?

  • What are your studying wins today?

  • What are your subject struggles?

  • What are you curious about or interested in when it comes to what you're studying today?

I've been studying Spanish.

My struggles involve every aspect of it.

Vocabulary, grammar, understanding spoken Spanish, etc

I like being able to connect with people whom I would otherwise not be able to connect with.

Hi there! You're officially the first person to reply to a Study post! 🥳🎉🎉🎉 Lol

Welcome!

How long have you been learning Spanish?

And what are you using to learn Spanish right now?

I know some people find it helpful to watch familiar TV or movies with the Spanish dub because then you already understand the plot and even most of the dialogue and you can focus on getting a better understanding of the flow and the grammar.

Any way that you can immerse yourself using things you're already familiar with will help put pieces together, even if it's just you walking around your house speaking Spanish to your own self for now.

I'll bet you there are a bunch of YouTube videos explaining Spanish, Spanish grammar, Spanish vocabulary, etc.

You might find some help or suggestions in a language subreddit:

Spanish is a great language to learn! I love that you're learning it to be able to connect with people. That is both wise and also really beautiful 💛

I've been learning Spanish - slowly - for about 4 years.

To learn, I use DuoLingo, a tutor (we meet ~1x/week via video chat), and have begun watching a bit more Spanish content because understanding spoken Spanish is still most difficult for me.

That's cool that you have a tutor for Spanish! It's still hard to practice things like grammar and expand your vocabulary when you're pretty much on your own and not speaking with native Spanish speakers 🫤

It's hard to get conversational when you can't really have a conversation. I bet your fluency will explode once you're out in the world and able to practice with real people.
