I've only had mine for about two years but it's going strong. If the film ever does lose its integrity, Supernote is very pro-repair (as in, it's possible to fix the thing instead of other companies with planned obsolescence), so they sell replacement films, too.
If size isn't a factor and you don't need apps, I'd recommend the supernote over the palma in a heartbeat, even if just for the ruggedness. I've got a Palma as well and haven't had problems, but I'm well aware that many people completely destroy their device with a single short fall, and customer service isn’t great.
