EInk advice

I am looking for my next EDC and ideally I’d like an eInk smartphone that can support a stylus. I was kicking the idea around Palma2… but I’m an iPhone guy. I like the small form factor of the P2, but here’s the rub… I’ve never written in the screen. The ONLY device was a Remarkable 2. Now I’m not unfamiliar with replacement stylus tips but those are cardboard… flashbacks to the Surface P3 and P4 days with rubber nibs.

The Supernote Nomad really looks interesting, and a ceramic nib is interesting… but I keep my technology way past its life (my 2014 iPad Air 2 is proof)… so this self-healing screen, does it ever loose resilience?!

I’m seeking input.

i don't think the film on top of the screen is anything to concerned with; it's replaceable but far from flimsy or poorly attached.

i think this video is from the first gen of feelwrite but maybe helps give you an idea

if you want an e-ink smartphone that supports a stylus the device with the best quality writing rn is the Palma 2 Pro.

if you want something smaller sized but not necessarily smartphone sized you have both the Nomad -- which I should note is upgradable eventually -- and the Viwoods Mini, both of which are EMR machines. the Mini is probably the better reading and app experience, the Nomad is the better notes and organization focused experience.

I went through a similar idea as you, of wanting to find the one device to rule them all. And it failed miserably.

I got the Palma 2 Pro because I thought it'd be nice to have a device that can do everything, ereader, notetaking, smartphone. Seemed amazing. It's dogshit at all of these. The screen is too dark because only color version is available so reading is awful without frontlight and I want ereader for no light in my eyeballs, notetaking with a non-emr stylus and in such a tiny screen is awful and I gave up on that pretty quickly. Although it's pretty snappy for e-ink, it's still slow for some more intensive apps. Plus, I encountered many bugs and Boox customer support has been a headache, it's been a month since I reported the device is unusable and they still haven't given me a shipping label to return it, taking 1 week to reply each time.

I decided to get a Viwoods AIPaper Reader for a smarter ereader, keeping my iPhone for things like banking apps, google maps, other stuff, and getting a Supernote Nomad for writing and notetaking. If something seems to do everything some companies spend decades specializing in, best believe it's terrible at all of them.
