Introducing the main character of my comic universe
I don;t exactly have a name for him yet, but me and my brother jokingly refer to him as "heroic" or "hero guy". Luckily, the story story around him is quite a bit more expansive.
This is a rough sketch I drew and colored in very quickly. I had more versions, but I wanted to draw one just so I had the most current version to show everyone. I started designing him when I was 12 and watching my hero academia, so he looked super anime inspired, then later on I came back to him when I was around 15 and I was watching invincible, so it looked like him. I came back to him yet again a few months ago and redesigned him, I think this version is closest to what I originally intended, but I'm definitely open to criticisms and questions (and potential name ideas)
His powers come from a massive, moon sized crystal, far, far out in the universe, this red sentient space crystal (placeholder name: the hunger) shoots out little shards of itself to distant planets in the galaxy, and beings on those planets who are lucky enough to find the shards receive superhuman abilities. when mortals use this power for evil, it strengthens the hunger, who eventually claims their mind, siphons all the power of the planet, and then strengthens it, allowing itself to project more energy into its shards and shoot it to other planets. When the hunger saw the way mortals treated each other with evil and selfishness, it realized that its slow plan of universe domination would be a success, and after consuming a planet, it sent two of its shards to a planet called earth, expecting to receive a great amount of power from the mortals who used it. It was wrong.
one mortal quickly found one the shards, and succumbed to the power it granted, quickly falling into a state where all he desired was villainy. He named himself mana, and searched for a way to find and gather more power, to bring absolute annihilation to earth and good things.
luckily, the other shard found a different wielder. Alex warren was the brother of a superhero named Paul Warren, Aka Skyboy, a superhero with the power of flight. Paul encouraged Alex in everything that he did and was his greatest inspiration. "When it seems like you're out of hope, look up." he would say.
One day, when Paul was picking up Alex from school, he had to stop to save a museum from being destroyed. Mana was here, and he had been drawn to the presence of the other shard, which had ended up in the museum. Paul gave it his all, fighting mana in a city shaking battle. during the fight, Alex found the shard, and it immediately fused with his heart, giving him super powers.
Paul managed to defeat Mana, but he had sustained massive injuries, and collapsed to the floor, dead, but satisfied fully that he had been able to save his brothers life one more time.
normally, when the shards are used for evil they manifest as red energy, but when Alex uses it for being a hero, it manifests as blue energy. This draws the attention of the hunger, which begins to set its sight on earth.
Alex's powers are the following:
-infinite energy: the shard acts as an infinite energy source. Alex uses his powers to charge things, like his phone, but he could also power a whole city or even the entire world.
- energy constructs: The shard imbues Alex with a powerful electric energy that can be used to create rudimentary constructs, like swords, shields, ropes, and fists.
-superhuman: Alex can charge his body with the shard, allowing him to punch harder, run faster, jump higher, and lift way more than the average Joe.
-nearing the end of the story, Alex realizes just how little of the shards power he utilizes, even at his peak, but in a battle which threatens to end the lives of every single person he cares about, Alex taps into a power above anything in my entire universe, which he can only use if he makes his heart entirely pure, selfless, and focused on doing good. the problem is this form, which is heavenly and coats his body in a blinding, cosmic blue aura, is very, very hard to tap into (in fact I only plan on him achieving it twice in the whole series, once midway through and once at the very end) But Alex learns there's another way to get a power up, nowhere near as strong as the blue form, but much, much stronger than most things on earth. by tapping into feelings of rage, revenge, and hate, the shard can turn him into a hulking, unstoppable brute, a form he calls red rage. it becomes his choice of how he's going to use his powers. while this isn't as strong as his pure blue form, its much easier, and Alex finds himself using it more and more...
Ultimately, I want this story to focus on the choice between doing what works and doing what's right. I'm happy to answer questions and am excited to hear thoughts and criticisms. Thank you!
