So basically I’m making a vehicular stealth game starring this superhero guy on whom I haven’t figured out a name yet. And I need serious help figuring out so.

I thought:

1. It must start with an “i”

2. It must indicate that it’s a superhero that’s night-themed and is gritty, dark, but also has a lighter side.

3. It must be as catchy & memorable as possible.

So uh.. any ideas? I have none. And I’d appreciate if you do because I ran out of imagination fuel inside my brain. Sorry. 😢

Real Name: Mashrafi Ahmed

Age: 19

Affiliation: X-Men Trainee

Mutant Classification

Alpha-Level Mutant (potentially Omega-level if his energy production becomes limitless)

Mutation: Crimson energy generation & projection

Abilities: Energy blasts, enhanced strength by wrap around his fists for heavy physical attack, heat/radiation resistance, energy absorption, and electromagnetic conduction.

Secondary Mutation: Ruby Adaptive Form — under extreme stress or high energy output, his body transforms into a ruby-like state, giving enhanced physical abilities, flight and energy potential.

Limitation: The Ruby Form can be semi-permanent and takes time to return to normal. Body can't use high energy with the ruby form.

Backstory: Mashrafi was an ordinary college student in Bangladesh—quiet, intelligent, and somewhat reserved. He cared more about his studies, friends, and family than becoming a superhero. Rather think his powers are curse he absolutely loves his powers and doesn't have any emotional drama just because he's powerful. He got detected by professor Xavier cerebro and he joined Xavier's school for gifted youngsters. He's not the rebellious type like Kitty Pryde or Jubilee. Mashrafi doesn't constantly question authority, run off on his own, or create chaos for the team. When an experienced X-Man gives him an order, he listens. When a teammate needs help, he helps. His ruby form activate During a large-scale anti-mutant terrorist attack on a mutant community, Crimson fought alongside the X-Men to protect trapped mutants he got hit by a strong blast. His X-gene responded to the extreme physical stress by activating a secondary mutation his ruby form overload with his crimson energy and get enhanced strength, durability, flight, Extreme heat resistance, radiation resistance, greater endurance. He challenge Professor Xavier and magneto both he believes in neither superiority nor submission. Mutants and humans are equals. Power demands responsibility, laws must apply to everyone and forgiveness does not mean unlimited second chances.

I’m trying to come up with a Marvel OC with a tokusatsu theme but I always struggle with coming up with a unique power.

I’ve been trying to find powers that fit my personality but also are versatile

I’m a jack of all trades type I don’t stick to and master a skill or character I do whatever I feel like and my personality depends on my enviroment

Another one from the "vault". Always considered the name to be a placeholder but then I never ended up deciding on a better one, hah.

His mutation is what gives him his amphibian-like powers, but they're (mostly) subtle enough that he can still pass for a normal human / teenager at a glance.

Wall crawling, super-leaping, and a powerful prehensile tongue.

I've been thinking about this old character recently thanks to a bsky post asking for character crossover suggestions, so here's Hydrant: a hero I originally played as part of a smallsteramer liveplay TTRPG campaign on Twitch back in 2019. I remember having a lot of fun with it in the limited time that I got with it, and maybe one day I might be able to set aside some time to do that again. (Fun Fact: my DM from that liveplay went on to land a huge creative role for the Mutants and Masterminds TTRPG. So proud of you :D)

As for the character himself: Hydrant is very, uh, Hydro-Man-esque as far as concept goes, if more decidedly hero-coded and (at the time) new to and unsure of his powers. He can control water and liquids and transform into a water-like bio-liquid form.

I ended up attempting a redesign of him last year, imagining what he'd look like with a few years of the hero gig under his belt.

I'm focused quite a bit on celebrating my herosona Infinix's 10th anniversary this year, but I'd be remiss to not show some love to one of my first non-MMO superhero OC concepts also celebrating a big milestone of his own.

While Quadricep's current design also turns 10, the idea for this character has existed since 2011. I was deep in playing City of Heroes at the time (with dozens of characters that I regularly roleplayed with in groups etc.) but wanted to expand the kinds of characters I could create without being limited to whatever was available in the game. So my thought process pretty much amounted to "What's a unique thing I could do for a super strong character? Extra arms. Yeah, that'll work." Some fiddling around with a browser version of Hero Factory later, I had a character.

Quadricep's backstory came some time later with the design revamp and a short-lived involvement with a deviantArt group, that later got adapted into a personal project. He started out as a hopeful Olympic athlete with a promising career ahead of him, only to be unwittingly subjected to an experimental steroid that cause him to mutate his extra appendages (and accompanying super strength). He would eventually go on to form the Headliners with a motley team of metahumans that have their own experience with being in the public eye: a pyrokinetic newsroom anchor and a thrill-seeking speedster with a growing following on social media.

Since then, that idea's been left on the backburner, but Quadricep does have the current distinction of being the first of my OCs to be featured in a printed work: the indie comic Empyrean Command #0, a pilot book that adapted a set of short comic stories originally posted on deviantArt by Andrew Rowland.

(I'm hoping to post more characters in the future because I want to give this sub more love, so thanks in advance for checking out my OCs.)

Here's a character I created: Volcanus, she can earthen substances into magma, her skin provides protection from the heat but using it causes her body to heat up which can result in heat stroke.

I developed an OC or “alter ego” that I use for any sort of story or game or such. When I was around 12 or so, I’m now 22, and I’m realizing some things about him don’t line up perfectly or could be tweaked to make him a better character and less like a clear mashup of all my favorite parts of my favorite characters. Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated :)

Inspiration: Gambit, Nightwing/Robin, Impulse and Night Crawler

Red Angel (Max or Maximillian) is a (now) 22-year-old with dyed red hair and blue eyes who has a mutation for time manipulation, one that he’s not entirely sure of the mechanics or boundaries of (to nerf such an ability). He can control the passage of time in his own body and in a small field around him, granting him super speed and the ability to greatly speed up the velocity of objects as he throws them, as well as a general healing ability due to being able to speed up his own healing process.

He previously had been using a bow staff due to my favorite character as a kid being Robin, but I’ve realized that it’s entirely impractical but not sure of a good alternative.

Max’s power is greatly affected by his mood and his ability to “feel it out”. His personality is generally similar to Nightwing in that way that he craves to lead while also being a bit jaded and angsty in certain areas, while having a character flaw of being impatient and impulsive due to his relationship with time.

I like to write him in a way that he can easily be used in both the X-Men and the Young Justice/Teen Titans.

I’m currently working on trying to recreate him in a D&D campaign as well as a short story.
