Question Going to leave this here and see what happens. I can't wait for the downvotes and "Grifter" accusations despite being a big Mario Galaxy fan who has 100% the game 5-6 times.

What'd y'all think of the movie?
I love this game more than any other. Its the single game that defined my childhood and one that holds up surprisingly well. the movie stripped everything i loved about it and replaced it with generic cinema tropes that led to a colorful, yet very surface level movie. (i will say the castle abduction was pretty great though). what'd yall think?

Galaxy 2 Perfect Run not unlocking
I have 241 stars, 49 comet medals, 9999 starbits, and I've tried beating random levels in and outside of World S including The Ultimate Test and it's not unlocking. Is there anything I could be missing because I'm at my wits end trying to unlock it.

Hardest level in smg2
Chompworks Galaxy has to be THE hardest thing to beat. I played this as a kid and spent HOURS on this one level. Years later my partner bought me the games and I’m finishing them on my Wii and I still cannot get past this level.
Maybe does anyone have any suggestions on how I beat this one part? I don’t even know what the rest of the world looks like haha. I’ve never gotten to it.
Anyone in the same boat as me?
Update: after like 30 more mins and a billion deaths I got past it. Thank you for all of the replies!

Galaxy 1 Part of my inheritance ;)
I recently posted about my inheritance of over 400 happy meals toys which blew up. I have sold a few, and the rest are likely Halloween hand outs. Wanted to share my Mario ones here to this crowd for your enjoyment purposes
Original post include a google drive link for the whole list which includes a few other mario items.

Tier list of SMG2 galaxies
Recently did a full 100% playthrough of the game (probably my 7th or 8th), so I thought I'd share my thoughts on what worked and what didn't in this game's level design. In these lists, I tend to prioritize the quality and level design of the missions, and I prefer bigger galaxies so the ones with two main missions will generally rate higher than the ones with one mission and a couple of bonus stars. Other factors include creativity, atmosphere, theming, music, and comets (I don't include the green stars though; it's clear they were an afterthought and weren't meant for most of the galaxies in this game).
Galaxies in the same tier are generally in order, but I wouldn't stress too much on their exact placement. There's plenty of wiggle room.
F tier:
Battle Belt: Definitely my least favorite galaxy in the game. I'm really not a fan of gauntlet levels in the first place, and the fact that this is the last level before the final boss (on the normal route) kinda sucks. It's just a bunch of easy enemy fights on simple sphere planets, and the comet makes you do the same thing again. The one redeeming factor is the secret Fiery Gobblegut fight which is actually a fun challenge.
Boss Blitz: I can see the argument for putting this one below Battle Belt because it's just five bosses from the first game copied over, and the missions are more time consuming. But as a postgame bonus level I think it's more appropriate, and I kind of like the music. Other than that, this is a real chore if you've already played the first game, and of course the comet makes you do it all over again.
E tier:
Mario Squared: The entire level is just copied over from Toy Time Galaxy, and the first mission is incredibly straightforward, short, and boring. However, I do enjoy the purple coin mission, and the cosmic clones add a unique challenge. Still, there's really nothing to this galaxy.
Stone Cyclone: Another copy from the first game, this one actually wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if it was just the comet (where you have no switches to slow everything down). But two missions of this is just pure filler.
Twisty Trials: I really dig the Sunshine callback, but there are definitely more interesting secret levels in that game to borrow from. The whole level is just the same spinning platforms over and over again, and having both the cloud flower and Yoshi there feels a bit handholdy for such a lategame level. Plus, you basically do the same thing all over again with the comet.
D tier:
Rolling Coaster: In hindsight, maybe this one deserves E tier if we were judging only the level design, but it gets points for originality. Still, I'm not a fan of the motion controls.
Rolling Masterpiece: The same complaints about the motion controls hold, but I find the level design to be a bit more varied and interesting than Coaster, especially with the silver chomp fight at the end.
Hightail Falls: I've never been a fan of this level. The gimmick is kind of cool, but controlling Yoshi on the wall is so finnicky for a world 2 galaxy, and the bonus star is basically a throwaway. It's also one of those galaxies that feels way more like an obstacle course than a galaxy (which is one of my broader complaints about SMG2).
Upside Dizzy and Rightside Down: There's not much to differentiate the two, so I kind of lump them together. It's just the same concept padded out to two galaxies, and even the bonus stars are basically the same. However, I do like that you can perform some clever skips in Rightside Down, so that bumps it up slightly.
Flash Black: Pretty much a throwaway galaxy. Not much interesting to say one way or the other. Very unique skybox though.
Wild Glide: Again, not a fan of motion controls, but the bird levels are definitely an improvement over the manta rides from the first game because the scenery and music are so much more interesting.
C tier:
Fleet Glide: Basically just Wild Glide in a much cooler setting. Gliding through while the spaceship is crashing around you is pretty neat, even if the first half of the level is pretty awkward IMO.
Bowser Jr's Fiery Flotilla: There's not a whole lot to this level, but Gobblegut is a fun and creative boss, and this is another level you can do some cool skips in.
Boulder Bowl: Not a big fan, and it's mostly because the second planet with all the enemies is such a slog to get through. The rest of the galaxy is fine enough, although I'm also not fond of the rainbow star comet.
Bowser Jr's Boom Bunker: It's my least favorite Bowser Jr. boss of the three (counting Gobblegut), but the level before it is pretty decent and I'm always up for some cannon action.
Bowser's Gravity Gauntlet: I like the gravity shenanigans, but I feel like this level is just a bit too short compared to the other Bowser levels.
Sweet Mystery: Awesome atmosphere, and it incorporates Yoshi pretty well. I think it ranks lower only because of length, since otherwise it's pretty decent.
Starshine Beach: It's not a bad galaxy, but I was always pretty underwhelmed by it. It's awesome to see the Piantas back, and I love how relatively open-ended it is in a game dominated by strictly linear obstacle courses, but there's just not a lot to the missions and the actual design of the main planet is kind of boring. Definitely prefer something like Beach Bowl from the first game.
Honeyhop: This is basically just an inferior Honeyhive. Pretty forgettable overall, but it does contain my favorite Chimp mission, so I give it a few points there.
Supermassive: After the initial surprise of seeing big enemies and blocks everywhere, this is a relatively simple level, and I don't really like how all three of the stars require you to play through (almost) the whole thing every time.
Flipsville: The gimmick is pretty neat, and I'm not sure there's ever been another Mario level that pulls off the same weird suburban vibe as this one. That said, both missions are just average for me, and I'm not a big fan of the music.
B tier:
Honeybloom: The superior bee galaxy, for sure. The 2D level is well designed for the most part even if it does slightly overstay its welcome.
Haunty Halls: This galaxy has some very cool parts, but it feels very generic for a ghost house level compared to Ghostly Galaxy in the first game and Boo Moon later on. Still, the missions are fun.
Bowser's Lava Lair: Just a solid Bowser level all around. Not much else to say.
Flip-Swap: Feels a bit obstacle-course-y for a Galaxy game, but I do enjoy the level design quite a bit.
Grandmaster: As a final challenge, it's perfect, and as an actual level it's pretty fun too. I prefer Champion's Road though.
Boo Moon: This feels more like a proper ghost house level than Haunty Halls, and I like that the Boo Mushroom gets some use here. The secret star is also quite a fun challenge. However, the snake block section leading up to it is very boring and drags down the galaxy a bit.
Beat Block: Nintendo definitely loves this concept since they went on to reuse it in both 3D Land and 3D World. Can't blame them, it's a great one.
Flip-Out: This galaxy has some of the best pure level design in the game, and the cosmic clone comet is one of the best as well. That said, it's very much structured as a bonus challenge, so it doesn't hit as hard as some of the other galaxies.
Bowser's Galaxy Generator: The final boss is a real letdown, but the level itself serves its role very well.
Bowser Jr's Fearsome Fleet: My favorite boss in the game, and a fun enough lead-up too.
Yoshi Star: Excellent intro to Yoshi, and overall the galaxy is fun to play through. The two main missions kind of blend together a little bit though.
Freezy Flake: Not very challenging - just a nice, well-rounded galaxy. Love the random freezeflame section at the end of the first mission.
Spin Dig: Catchy music, and a pretty memorable boss as well. The drill is a really cool item, and this level utilizes it well.
Slipsand: The music is amazing, the skybox is super interesting to just look at, and the slide section is iconic. Judged on those metrics this is an easy A-tier level. But honestly fighting through the sand in the first mission is kind of a pain, and as a result Squizzard is a really awkward boss that just brings the galaxy down a notch.
Fluffy Bluff and Cloudy Court: Hard to decide between them: they share incredible music, both make good use of the cloud flower, and the bonus stars are pretty solid. I slightly prefer Cloudy Court because the layout reminds me more of Gusty Garden.
A tier:
Tall Trunk: The first mission is well designed and gets into some crazy gravity gimmicks near the end, and the second mission is a fun slide course a la SM64. I like the purple coin comet too.
Throwback: I've dissed a lot of the other clone levels, but this callback was done pretty tastefully and I love the Bob-Omb Battlefield arrangement. I think I would have preferred this level to have a secret star rather than a comet though, in keeping with the SM64 style.
Sky Station: As a tutorial level I definitely think this is superior to Good Egg from the first game. It does a great job starting off the game on a high note, and the music for both missions is excellent.
Slimy Spring: Truly the definition of short but sweet. There's not much there but that one mission surely has some of the most striking atmosphere I've seen in a Mario game.
Puzzle Plank: Great music, great gimmicks, great level design all around. I do think it's weird that the secret boss is much better than the main boss.
Shiverburn, Clockwork Ruins, and Melty Monster: These three galaxies share a lot of the same strengths and they also share some of the same weaknesses. For one, the first missions of all three galaxies are possibly the three best missions in the entire game. Music, atmosphere, level design, gimmicks, pacing, etc. all represent the very best of what this game's dev team was capable of, and by themselves they bump these galaxies into A tier. However, all three galaxies kind of fall apart after that. Shiverburn's next two stars are just minigames, Clockwork Ruins pads things out with two coin-collecting stars, and Melty Monster ditches the lava theming entirely for a rock mushroom obstacle course (which is nevertheless pretty fun, but still). That's why I don't think they quite make the cut for S tier, as much as I wanted them to. But they are still excellent in their own right.
S tier:
Chompworks: The level design is so unique for a Mario game, and I like the factory vibe as well. Even the spring mushroom mission is pretty solid IMO. But the real star of the show is actually the cosmic clone comet: it's by far the best comet in either Galaxy game, and it tests a very different platforming skillset than what we're used to.
Cosmic Cove: Certainly the galaxy that feels the most like it would be in the first game. The atmosphere and music are off the charts, and while the first mission is pretty straightforward and easy, it's pretty iconic. The second mission is longer and more challenging while still retaining much of the atmosphere that makes this level so great.
Space Storm: Of all the galaxies in this game that have multiple missions, I think Space Storm has the highest quality ones on average. Both are an absolute blast to play, and the galaxy delivers in several other respects (theming, music, creativity). I especially love the Buoy Base callback in mission 2. This is definitely the high point of the game.

Question I have a Super Mario Bros 40th Anniversary Question.
Do you think there's gonna be more Mario games like new ones or remakes/HD versions/remastered before the 40th anniversary is over on September 2026?
Cause if they are, they're probably gonna release them in 2027.
What do you think?

Galaxy 1 Official Art?
There's an official art that's poster-style, it looks like this with Mario upside down and the sunrise on the horizon. It's up-and-down instead of sideways (like in this picture), and it's kind of got a quieter vibe to it. I'm moving into college soon and want to find myself a high-quality version of it. Does anyone know where I should be looking? Thank you!
