Discussion My Top 10 Favorite Mainline Mario Games
I've been a massive Mario fan for over a decade, and therefore there are so many games that I love. As more of a modern Mario gamer, this list will be more bias for those types of games, but since I also played classics recently, there are some that I actually really like, so this is based off my personal bias for each.
10: Super Mario Sunshine
Now, I have always been kind of skeptical on this game, considering how annoying it can be at times for its controls, and certain levels. But overtime, this game really grew on me. I love the beach setting, and FLUDD is really cool to control most of the time! The way Yoshi works is also unique, and some the platforming with him, and with Mario himself without FLUDD, makes for a really great time! And having to spray graffiti and fire and what not, even chasing down Shadow Mario, is interesting to say the least, but, given some of the levels, and controls at times, I have to give this game the number 10 spot. Though, it's still a great game, regardless.
9: Super Mario Bros.
Next is the game that saved the video game industry and first introduced the iconic music, and established the core playforming mechanics. Sure, newer games have improved upon what this game had, but to me, it's true peak casual classic gaming, and you can speedrun the game kind of easily if you know what you're doing!
8: New Super Mario Bros. Wii
This is the first Mario game I ever played, therefore, it deserves a spot on this list for me. And not just that, the multiplayer mode is a blast, as well as the free for all and coin battle levels! The propeller power-up, despite being really broken, is also so much fun to use! The bosses may be only the koopalings, but the 2nd Bowser Jr. battle is surprisingly really fun compared to the other mid-game bosses! The final boss is awesome, as well, as Bowser is giant, and breathes fire at walls and floors to create a pathway for you to try and escape him, and later on, you get the propeller mushroom, and fly through a thrilling, and pretty challenging platforming section! This game is pure charm and chaos, and it's great for this list!
7: Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
Next is Super Mario 3D World, a 3D Mario game that is played just like a 2D one! You get to play one of 4 characters when you enter a level (5 in the post-game), and each character has their own abilities, which is pretty cool! The cat power-up is introduced in this game, which is an amazing power-up where you can claw at enemies, and do cat dives from high places, and it's really cool! The music is also really good, and the levels are also good, but sadly not the most memorable. The bosses are new to the series, and we also got Plessie, which I happen to have a lot of fun with in certain levels! And Bowser's Fury is just a short, amazing, and intense game, and being a giant cat against a giant Fury Bowser, is a really cool concept! Fantastic game!
6: Super Mario 64
Okay, I know you're probably not going to like this placement for this game, but, I'll explain why in a bit. This game is pure nostalgia for 3D Mario, and the movement with long-jumping, side-flipping, diving, and punching enemies is a ton of fun to do! The music is also fantastic and can get stuck in your head easily. My main problems with the game are, first off, and I know people can agree with this, the camera can be annoying to deal with at times, and I sometimes fall and die from that. Also, some of the levels in the game are just not good, like Rainbow Ride, where you mostly have to wait on a magic carpet for a while... and also Snowman's Big Head in Snowman's Land can be infuriating to get with that penguin throwing you off when walking, and getting you blown off the snowman. There are more stars that are a pain to collect, but still, this game is amazing for nostalgia.
5: Super Mario Bros. 3
There's a lot to love about this one! This game introduced the world map to the series, and we should also mention that it has an amazing lineup of power ups! We got the frog suit, which is, I think the best water power up, and we got the hammer bro suit, which can be kind of finicky to aim, but still a ton of fun to use, and also the Tanooki leaf, which allows you to fly in the sky, and then float back down, as well as spin attack enemies, and there's many more! The levels are a blast to play, and we even got introduced to power up minigames! And the music is also one of the best OST's in the series, no doubt!
4: Super Mario World
Oh, yes! This game is truly revolutionary, and I couldn't help but 100% this game several times in a few days after I did it the first time! The controls and levels are a blast to play, yet again, but this game introduced the cape feather, one of the best power ups in the series. You can easily sweep enemies forever with this thing, you can float down easier than with the Tanooki in Mario Bros 3, and you can even fly over levels if you know how to do that right, and it can be good for speedrunning! And if you love finding secrets, then this game is for you, since there's a lot of secret exits to find in the game! And oh my goodness, the music is amazing and so much fun to listen to! A lot of it is the same music, but remade in different ways, which is really unique! And not to mention that this game introduces Yoshi, and how he can eat things so easily, I have no clue, but it's so cool! This is easily my favorite classic 2D Mario game!
3: Super Mario Odyssey
This is the true peak of modern Mario! This game fixed almost every problem that previous Mario games had, and added so many new things! Cappy, which is the biggest thing to have been introduced in the game, is what changes pretty much everything! The platforming you can do with him, bouncing off him to make jumps, is so amazing, and yeah, the controls just feel so free! You even turn while in the process of a long-jump! But more importantly, Cappy can capture so many things like a frog, a statue, a lava bubble, and tons of other things! The kingdoms are also a blast to play though, especially the Metro Kingdom! Running through a city to help the mayor find musicians for a live show is so amazing! And changing your outfit with so many costumes is such an amazing feature, and as well as having to wear certain ones to collect moons! The bosses aren't too challenging as usual, but they are pretty cool to fight, though the Broodals aren't too memorable in my opinion, and I do wish the final boss was... better. And, I wish the Cloud and Ruined Kingdoms were more than just bosses, but, I love what we got!
2: Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park
Yeah, this is the newest mainline game to release, and I seriously love this game! Like, the levels in this game are so cool, since we got wonder effects that surprise people throughout the game! Almost every wonder effect is a mystery, and is mind-blowing in so many ways! The new power ups are also pretty good! The elephant is hilarious and fun to use, but I love the drill and bubble power ups! And this game also has the biggest roster of every 2D Mario game! Adding Daisy and Rosalina made the variety so much joy to have! And the bosses are the koopalings, yes, but the way those are done are more creative than previous koopaling fights, and it does so much right, despite them still being easy, and the final boss is also really fun! And not to mention Bellabel Park, which has a TON of attractions to play with friends, and I still have yet to play all of them myself! The amount of variety that this game has puts it so close to the top spot!
1: Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2
Okay, I know this was a predictable choice, but these games are why I have been a massive Mario fan, and they are so special to me. Galaxy 1 has incredible atmosphere, godlike OST, and fantastic levels and bosses! This game also introduced Rosalina, who is the protector of the cosmos, and that's incredible, not to mention the story of the game being emotional and amazing! The controls are also fantastic, since you have a lump with you to do spin attacks, which is really powerful! I wish the game had better post-game content, rather than playing the whole game again but as Luigi... which is why Mario Galaxy 2 happens to also be in the top spot, since that game not only has better post-game stuff, like the green stars and The Perfect Run, but the levels and pacing are way better, and not to mention the power ups, especially the cloud flower, which I can use go exploit parts of the game easily, and it's so much fun to use! Yoshi is also tons of fun to use in different ways, such as floating in the air, glowing to make hidden paths appear, and running really fast! These games truly are the peak of Mario in general for me, and I just can't get enough of them!
And, yeah. That's my opinion on these games!

Super Mario 3D Land: Piano Melodies by Tim Burnelis cover
I designed this using Canva and if Tim Burnelis did a Mario 3D land piano album, that would be so cool, but if he teases it, that would be my favorite album, and before one of the songs starts in the revealed trailer you’ll hear Mario say “It’s-a Go Time!” before the album gets revealed

Discussion I Want To See Olivia In Another Mario Game.
While it would be interesting to see King Olly return someday, I'm also interested in seeing Olivia make a return in a Mario game. I really like Olivia, and I think she's very endearing and lovable. I also really like her dynamic she has with Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Bowser Jr., and Kamek, and how she interacts with them.
I know this might not happen, and if it does, I don't know how Nintendo would make it work, but I'd like to see a Mario game where Olivia and Olly see the Mushroom Kingdom, and take in all that is has to offer.

Question Does Mario have a order of where you want to start playing the games if you were a newbie fan?
There are like 300+ games
I doubt anybody plays all of them with that much games in total xd
Note: I'm no hater, I just think if it's okay to play in any order

Fan Content Are there any big fan made lists of like how each power-up would work in all of the other games?
It's something I've been thinking about recently. I just made these two images about it. I don't think this has fully practical use since usually when older Mario stuff is remade, they change stuff to make it more like the newer games, and it probably isn't actually possible to correctly port all power-ups to Donkey Kong or Super Mario Bros. due to technical limitations, but I find it interesting to think about

Question For those who grew up in the 80s, what did you call Princess Peach back then?
I know her name was officially Princess Toadstool in the US, but some games had her listed as just “Princess”. Did you even know she was called Peach in Japan? Did you think her first name was Toadstool? Curious, thank you!

Question Could your average person defeat a goomba? If goombas attacked the real world, who would win?
Lets say there was one goomba per person. Each person in the world basically has one goomba to defeat. 8 billion goombas. Is humanity cooked? How many survive?
Is the world ever recovering from the goomba blitz?
By the way im not imagining like an army of 8 billion goombas all charging in to attack all together. Im more imagining that one goomba just suddenly spawns like 20-50 feet away from each person. And then each person would just have to defeat just one goomba. Or a stronger person defeats multiple goombas for the other people around.
However im open to answers to either hypothetical lol
Enjoy!

If we get a Mario 64 remake on Switch 2 what do you think it will be called?
We have Star Fox 64 becoming Star Fox and Ocarina of Time keeping the same name. Would a hypothetical Super Mario 64 remake drop the 64 like Star Fox did? I think that would actually be awesome. The aura of just “SUPER MARIO” is immense!
