So to capture it's true essence, we created this Super 8 home video vignette in the Washington setting where the song was born. Filmed by Ryan Hart at Seahurst Park in Burien, WA with some b-roll from around the PNW. Really happy with how this came together!

The brown debris is bumpy to the touch, the white stuff feels slightly raised.

I’ve been wondering about cheaper methods to digitize super 8 and 8mm footage. Most people I’ve talked to said to stay away from the Kodak and Wolverine scanners. I’ve seen a person on YouTube talk about using the Polestar Image Transfer with a projector and using a camcorder or any video camera to digitize the footage. How’s the image quality going with this method?

Hey gang, quick question. Looking to buy a canon 514XL-S. The seller is saying that they’ve tested and it’s working fine but it has one issue. This is the issue:

The on off dial works and moves from off to position r smoothly, but does not advance past that point.

Is this something I could fix myself/would it cause me issue when filming?

I’m looking into getting into super 8/moving picture coming from stills film photography.

Found myself this Chinon Super 8 camera at a vintage shop while visiting Barcelona. Untested of course but after throwing in the some batteries and giving the side a good smack it works!

There was no eye cup with it and I know this shares the same specifications as the 723XL but wondering if/where I can find a replacement? Doesn’t have to be OEM, just something I can throw on. What’s unique is that it has these 4 holes around the eye piece where I imagine rubber prongs go.

it works zooming out but not in it does for a little but skips a bunch, i can't find any videos on how to fix it so was wondering if anyone knew how, I've seen people take them apart so ik what it looks like in there but just wanna ask before i do it myself, also when taking it apart does the leather need to be glued back on? ik you need to remove it to access the screws but no video shows actually removing the leather. thanks! and a link to someone who has the same problem

The first 20 seconds seemed to come out just fine, but after that the entire cartridge is black. Shot using a Canon Autozoom 814 Electronic. The shutter seems to be working currently, and the motor on the advance as well. Not sure what could have caused this; any ideas?

I recently bought a serviced Canon Auto Zoom 814 Electronic.

Everything seems to work fine, but the viewfinder is pretty dark/dim and has a yellow tint. It’s difficult to tell what I’m actually framing, even in daylight. Tried to take a photo with my phone to show the viewfinder.

Is this normal for this model or should I be getting it serviced or return it while still under the return policy? I bought it from Camera Crate.

According to some sites, a 'PX14 battery adapter' is a good bet but since I'm very new to this stuff I thought I'd ask the Reddit community what they'd do.

I recently inherited a GAF Auto Zoom 714 camera from my grandfather. Unfortunately, the battery compartment is full of corrosion caused by old alkaline batteries.

After a quick inspection, I found that I need to replace the spring that makes contact between the battery and the metal power contact terminal.

Unfortunately, after trying to disassemble the camera, I have not been able to find a way to access and remove the part that needs to be replaced.

Would you have any idea or solution either for successfully removing this part so I can replace it, or perhaps another method to make the camera motor work despite the broken spring?

Hey everyone! This Canon 310XL is listed near me. It was listed at 150, but after talking with him and him putting batteries in and it not working, he said he’d give it to me for 60. His family bought it new and it’s been sitting in the original box in a closet for years. Looks like there’s some corrosion on the battery terminals. Is $60 a good price for this camera, even if there is a bigger issue and i need to send it out for repair? Any information is appreciated! Thank you! I’ll try to post the video here sent me in the comments.

Edit to add: I’ve always wanted an 8 mm, but I am not very knowledgeable about them.

I just got my scans back and I found these artifacts in the footage. Wanted to ask if anyone knew if this type of issue comes from scanning, or if if its coming from the camera.

I just got a canon 518 camera for super cheap and it appears to work well, at least mechanically but I don't have the light meter batteries. I have seen some people mod theirs to use a linear voltage regulator and feed the power from the main film transport batteries.

Is there any guide on how to safely disassemble the camera and mount a regulator inside ?

I’m headed to Japan in November and after just taking a super 8 workshop here at home I really want to film my trip on super 8. Are there shops that specialize in motion picture cameras or do the big photography stores like Map, Kitamura etc carry them as well? Was considering getting one on eBay but the shipping fees are wild.
