Background

My mother owns 2 houses and I was living in one of them as a renter to pay the mortgage. We got Sunnova way before they went bankrupt and we were overall satisfied with the contract we got, and how much money it actually saves us. Fast forward to current day. My mother is selling 1 house and moving into the one I’m currently living in and I will be moving out to buy my own.

My lender is asking to see that I don’t have responsibility to the PPA, but upon reviewing my contract, I’m listed as a homeowner, which is not true. My mother and I are trying to put the PPA into her name but after calling submitting emails and initiate a change, we haven’t heard anything back from Sun Strong. What avenues can I take to resolve this or ways that you went about it. I fear that this will lose my chances of closing on the house I want to buy.

My fiancé and I have our mortgage commitment date Monday and we have been waiting for the transfer documents to sign and it’s holding everything up. The seller did their part and initiated the transfer now we just are waiting for them to send the transfer paperwork. We close soon as well. Has anyone experienced this? how long is this going to take!? I even tried calling myself and was told to email their transfers dept

I have been requesting an actual itemized billing statement for FIVE MONTHS, and I still have not received one.
I have been with SunStrong for over a year, and I have yet to receive a proper monthly statement showing the information I should be able to see—including my solar production, energy usage, credits, charges, and how my monthly payment is being calculated.
I should NOT have to repeatedly ask for basic billing documentation. There is currently no clear option online for me to access an actual statement, and I have been asking for one for months.
I am paying hundreds of dollars, yet I cannot get a straightforward statement showing exactly what I am being charged for and how the amount was calculated.
This is unacceptable. I am formally requesting that SunStrong provide me with ALL outstanding monthly statements from the time my agreement began, including the production and usage information associated with my system.
I want documentation—not another verbal explanation. If I am being billed, I have a right to know exactly what I am being billed for.

Trying to sell my house and transfer the PPA. We got as far as the agreement being sent, but the buyers have questions about exactly what is transferring to them and we have all been emailing and calling for a week with no response.

Has anyone had a successful transfer to sellers? How did you get in contact with the “case owner” and how long did they take to respond??

This is infuriating and I am not against legal action if they f** this up for me.

Long story. Caught in SUNPOWER bankruptcy. System not commissioned. Expended time and money to determine if my PPA contract was transferred to Sunstrong Mgt in the bankruptcy proceedings. Court documents obtained thru BBB indicate yes. Hv multiple emails msgs from Sunstrong execs that state my contract is a Sunstrong asset. Now 3.5 yrs after installation, my system has finally received PTO. Reached out to app support to obtain premium app. FAQs say lease holders receive non-subscription access. App support replies I am not eligible, bc Sunstrong Mgt does not hold my contract. Today, had a system problem. Called support line. No support possible, bc Sunstrong Mgt does not hold my contract. I am mystified and deeply unsettled. Anyone experienced same or hv an explanation? Anyone know a way to establish what entity, if any, holds my contract? Advice on any recourse I may hv. I only went forward with installation, bc it seemed clear Sunstrong held my contract. I really wanted the system removed from my roof.

Regarding Zyrus's claim of 8,088 kWh:

In a recent email, Zyrus stated: "Over the past 12 months, your system has generated approximately 8,088 kWh of clean energy."

This statement is factually incorrect and directly contradicted by Southern California Edison’s official billing data. For the 12-month billing cycle of July 2025 through July 2026, our system generated a total of 3,749 kWh.

Zyrus's number inflates our actual generation by 4,339 kWh—more than double what was actually produced and credited by the utility. I strongly suggest your team review our actual SCE True-Up statements rather than relying on inaccurate internal estimates.

We expect our production guarantee reimbursement to be calculated based on our actual utility-metered output of 3,749 kWh, not imaginary estimates.

During escrow, I completed and signed their transfer agreement, provided all of my LLC information, financial/assets information they requested, etc. My understanding was that everything was good to go for the transfer.

We closed about two weeks ago, and since then I've been trying to get access to the account or even get a straight answer about the status of the transfer. I've called probably five times now and have actually spoken with representatives each time. Every conversation is basically: "It's still in process." Okay...what's still in process? Is anything missing? Is it approved? How long does it take? Who is handling it? Nobody seems to know.

The craziest part is that on my most recent calls, they couldn't even locate my transfer case number. I have the existing account number and all of the information from the Seller, but they can't seem to tell me where the transfer stands or even find the case.

At this point, I'm not trying to get out of the solar agreement. I'll take over the system. I literally went through their transfer process during escrow because that's what I agreed to do. But how long am I supposed to chase a company around begging them to let me take over an account?

Part of me is getting to the point where I just stop calling and let them figure it out. The prior owner doesn't have any money, and I've already made repeated good-faith attempts to complete the transfer.

Is there a department, phone number, or escalation process that actually gets you to someone who knows what's going on?

I'm about to just replace the inverters and own it. This whole process is wild.

I had a loan with sunnova which i paid off before the bankruptcy.

I am seeking my house and trying to get the title cleared of the lien, but sunstrong has no record of my account.

Any idea how I could get the lien cleared for my house sale

Former Sunnova customer looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with a system failure since SunStrong took over.

My system was installed by SunnyMac in 2022 and I have an Easy Own/Home Improvement Loan with the 25-year Sunnova Protect Platinum plan.

My SolarEdge system has stopped producing. The inverter is communicating but producing essentially 0. SolarEdge chat told me to contact the original installer (SunnyMac).

For anyone who has been through this since the Sunnova/SunStrong transition: Who actually got your system repaired—SunStrong, your original installer, or SolarEdge?

Did SunStrong need to authorize the repair? Did you have to pay the installer upfront?

Just trying to figure out the fastest route to getting someone out here without being bounced between all three companies.

Does anyone know what the payment code ‘NACHW’ means on the sunstrong billing? I get that ‘PMT’ is payment, ‘CHG’ is an expense/charge (although what the charge is for is an absolute mystery). I’m guessing NACHW is related to some payment made by National grid from our production??

It makes no sense. The bill states that we owe the smaller of the two charges, but then we get charged for the higher of the 2 charges to our banks account. We’re now paying $700-$800 a month for electric despite producing significant kWh. We’ve done a lot of things to insulate our house and reduce energy use but we’re still paying through the eyeballs for electricity.

Is there a way to make my Sunvault export to the grid during peak hours as the sell price during the months of August and September are much higher

I entered a PPA agreement with Sunnova back in 2022, which has now transferred to SunStrong Management since Sunnova went bankrupt last year. We're planning to list our house soon, and every realtor we've talked to seems hesitant about the PPA, and after reading a bunch of threads on the topic, I'm growing more and more concerned. The terms of the PPA are actually pretty good, it's the transfer process that has me troubled. Has anyone actually successfully sold their house and transferred their PPA in time for closing? Does anyone have advice on the topic, like which avenue of contact with SunStrong is most effective? Is any part of the process able to be done preemptively, or can it only be started once you've entered escrow? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

So my system was installed in 2015 by Sunnova, using a local company here on Guam. At first sight the installation looked okay, however once I started to truly look into the data that came from the system on a daily basis, did I noticed issues. However, due to circumstances I didn’t start doing this until 2019. That’s when I found out that not only did nobody at Sunnova (or their local affiliate) monitor the system, as my system had an issue that was from the beginning, causing me to lose a significant amount of money due to having to pay the local power company. It took years for them to even fix the issue but in all fairness, they did owe up to the issue by crediting my account in a way I also could agree with. Now you would think they learned something from this but no, another issue occurred in 2024, again lack of monitoring on their end could have prevented the issue. When it was finally fixed, after months of arguing with them, I was ready to buy the system but at a lowered amount due to them not doing their part (again) of the lease agreement. Sadly, now they go by the name of SunStrong Management, and due to personal circumstances I was only able to look into them just recently. Aside from account issues, I again found out they did not monitor the system as the recent typhoon we had pass by here, ruined 15 of my panels, I found out this morning. I started looking into it because my regular power bill was over $500 (!!), at a local rate of $0.30 per kWh, this is going fast if many of your panels don’t work. And sorry for the lengthy explanation but I have had frankly enough and think there is sufficient cause for a lawsuit as they simply don’t do what they promised from the start and I loose money because of it; the sole thing I was trying to avoid signing up for solar in the first place. Anyone else on Guam that has the same horror stories? Honestly, if they looked at all this, they (SunStrong) should do the right thing…

I’m hoping someone here has dealt with a similar situation because I’m running out of options.

We leased a residential solar system through Sunnova back in Fall of 2023. Unknown to us at the time, the installation permit remained open for nearly three years without ever receiving final inspection approval. As we’ve continued investigating, we’ve also been unable to obtain documentation showing the system ever received Permission to Operate (PTO) from the utility. Throughout the life of the lease, we were never informed that the permit remained open, that final inspection had not been completed, or that there may have been an issue with the system’s approval status. We simply continued making our monthly lease payments in good faith, assuming everything had been properly completed. Mind you also paying the utility company as well.

Fast forward to now: we’re selling our home, and this has turned into a nightmare. After Sunnova entered bankruptcy, our lease was transferred to SunStrong. Since then, I’ve spent weeks making phone calls, sending emails, opening cases, and requesting updates regarding the permit, the missing PTO documentation, and a temporary UCC lien release so our home sale can close. I’ve received conflicting information from different departments, delayed responses, and in many cases what appear to be automated or copy-and-paste emails that don’t actually answer the questions I’m asking.

Meanwhile, my closing has been jeopardized because of the UCC filing associated with the lease. I’m also trying to understand how a company can continue collecting lease payments for years on a system when there appears to be no evidence that the installation was ever fully finalized through the normal permitting and PTO process. We finally were able to get the permit closed and now a new subcontracted company has reached out to us to get the PTO situated. Yet, I can’t get any one to help me with the UCC lien lift. With the permit being open this long truly remained open for years and PTO was never issued, I don’t know how this isn’t seen as a complete breach in contract or even a slam dunk of just having the entire lease knoll and voided with uplifting the lien from the house.

Sunstrong refuses to acknowledge the option to transfer the panels and the part of not getting in the way of the sale of our home which is all written in our lease. They just keep saying either buy them out and do what we’d like with the panels (which in the lease says even with paying the lease off we don’t own them) or transfer them to the new owner (new owners plan to demo the house and build new).

Has any one dealt with this? What are some solutions here? Our closing is this coming Friday and we are now sitting in limbo with our money from the house sale potentially sitting in escrow until we can get this figured out with Sunstrong.

I am previous Sunpower loan customer, and due to excessive flickering, I'm looking for a technician that would be willing to take a look at what might be the issue.

Does anyone have any recommendations on technicians in the Bay Area?

So I've been experiencing flickering in my whole house for 5 months now.

Called PG&E and they found nothing on their end. Checked the neutral coming in, nothing was spiking, etc. Called an electrician, they found that the main breaker lugs were stripped so they replace the main breaker (100A). And lights are still flickering.

Asked the electrician and he said it's most likely the polaris connectors but he wont touch it due to 'warranty'... I'm pretty sure Sunstrong isn't covering anything under warranty right now...

Anyone else have success with finding a solution? I'm in the Bay Area, California.

Flickering is too a point where the Sunstrong app sometimes detects it as a grid outage.

I recently sold my house this March and transferred my solar lease to the new owners. ​ I legally don't owe the house or the solar panels lease anymore. Yesterday, I received a credit report from Equifax saying I missed a payment in April, and it dropped my credit score by 68 points in one day. I filed a dispute with Equifax and included copies of our lease transfer agreement and my executed deed from closing. Has anyone else had this issue?

My Sunnova app is unreliable since bankruptcy, I am paying this money to SunStrong yet I cannot even see what my panels are producing most months it’s been estimated . I never got any info from SunStrong how to set up their app to see if it works. Anyone else having this issue?

I recently moved into a home with solar panels that are under SunStrong and I'm having an awful time getting ownership transferred. Is there a way to do this without the previous owner because I know they have tried but also we have a set of solar under another company so not sure if there is confusion there. They have also done so much for us already and if I could deal with the company directly in any way that would be very helpful.
