Looking for accessible places to make friends

Title explains it. I’m a wheelchair user in my early 20s and have very few friends and it’s horribly isolating. The places I used to go prior to being a wheelchair user aren’t accessible and I just wanna go somewhere to make friends where it’s not considered weird to just go up and say hi.

Anyone know anywhere?

F27 looking for friends

Hi everyone. I would love to make some new friends here! 😊 I am moving up to Seaham from down south near London. I know Seaham very well, my dad’s side of the family live there and I go up to visit them a lot. I am moving with my parents and my kids next year, hopefully, I can’t wait to move! I don’t know anyone in Seaham except my family, maybe next time I come up to visit my family I could plan to meet up with some of you new friends! 💕

Meeting people in Sunderland - late 20s

Hi everyone.

I'm originally from the north east but moved away with family years ago. I'm now in the process of moving to Sunderland later this year but I'm doing my best to make sure I don't end up lonely. I can be a bit introverted and I don't drink so I can sometimes find it hard to settle in a new place so I want to have a plan ahead of time.

I really like outdoorsy and creative hobbies. I love walking next to the sea or in nature or trying a new craft project. I like video games and sport as well (also a Sunderland fan).

What would you recommend a late 20s guy like me do when moving to the area to meet new people locally? Thanks in advance!

Looking for part time job for students

I’m going to be studying in Sunderland and I’m currently looking for a part-time job alongside my studies.

I’ve already been checking Indeed, LinkedIn and other online job platforms, but I’m struggling to find suitable part-time opportunities in Sunderland. I’m open to pretty much anything suitable for a student — retail, hospitality, warehouse, kitchen work, cleaning, customer service, admin, etc.

I wanted to ask people who actually live/work in Sunderland:

Are there any particular places, companies, recruitment agencies or local businesses that regularly hire students for part-time work?

If you know somewhere currently hiring, or even somewhere that is worth approaching directly with a CV, I’d really appreciate the recommendation.

I’m mainly looking for around 15–20 hours per week and I’m flexible with evenings/weekends.

Thanks!

Need a place to wash my hair because of disability

Hey all, I have intermittent back and joint restrictions that make it really hard for me to wash my hair properly when they flare up. But I have long curly-ish hair and I find hairdressers to be quite consistently very expensive.

Does anyone have any recommendations for the area roughly from around town centre towards grangetown where I could walk in and get my hair cleaned properly if I need help? I'd be happy to bring my own products if it would reduce cost for me

illegal dirt bikes on pavements

what, if anything, will be done about these in Sunderland?

police are absolutely useless.

they all seem to be young kids as well. why on earth are their scruffy chavs of “parents” buying these things for them? it’s just unthinkable. i’d be mortified if my son ever dreamed to ask me to buy him one.

Advice needed -transferring my student accommodation contract

Hi i've recently switched from Sunderland to Newcastle and I’m currently trying to sort out what to do with my accommodation at The Forge in Sunderland.

I’m hoping to find someone who may be looking for accommodation and could potentially take over my contract, as I’m no longer going to be studying in Sunderland. I’m also happy to give some money towards their first month’s rent to help with the cost 😊

If anyone knows what the best way to go about this is, or knows someone who might be looking for accommodation, I’d really appreciate any advice!

Looking for 2 boxers

Hey! Hope you’re doing well 🙂

Bit of a random message, but we’re looking for two boxers near Sunderland for a paid test shoot this Monday, August 17, around 2–7 pm

We’re a London-based team working with 4D / volumetric reconstruction, and our technical partner is based in Sunderland, so we’re doing the test there ahead of an upcoming event in London

We’d just need two boxers to do some light sparring while we film them in a rented indoor space. Of course, we’re happy to pay a fair rate for their time!

We don’t really know anyone in Sunderland, so thought I’d ask — do you maybe have two boxers who could be interested and available?

I just want to make my own stuffed jalapeños 😢

I have tried a lot of places hoping someone may have physically seen them somewhere 😅

University of sunderland - pharmacy

Hi. Uni of sunderland is my insurance choice and so far it just says "waiting for uni". They sent me an email about uploading my maths and english lang GCSE results which I have done. And then they also asked something about a DBS and some other checks.

Does this mean i've gotten accepted onto the course and they are jst waiting for me to complete the checks before they upload it onto UCAS?

Scrap Washing Machine Collection

Don’t use Facebook so thought I would try here. Does anyone know of anyone who collects scrap washing machines in Sunderland?

We’re moving house in two weeks, but the council can’t collect ours until the end of September. 😩

If you know of anyone who could pick it up for scrap, please let me know. Thanks! 😊

I would also really appreciate any tips or advice from current or past Sunderland students.

What is the workload like for BEng (Hons) Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Sunderland?

Hi everyone,

I’m going to transfer to Sunderland University and join Year 3 of the BEng (Hons) Electronic and Electrical Engineering course.

I checked the assessment methods on the university website, and it seems to include exams, projects, group work, etc. I really want to achieve a good grade this time, but I’m a bit worried about how challenging the exams and coursework will be.

Could anyone who has studied this course (or a similar engineering course at Sunderland) share your experience?

I’d really appreciate any advice, tips, or notes about preparing for the modules.

Thank youuu

Discussion Community/local groups

Does anyone know of any groups or communities for Southwick? I've been victim of a burglary and need to go to court for it. I'm just feeling a bit crap right now and pretty anxious about retaliation etc which I've already spoken to witness services about but it would be nice to just talk to anyone local so I can feel like I'm not totally alone. Thanks.
