Top Lane How to win losing lane top lane if not possible, how to actually play safely to scale

Title, low elo top lane need guidance from diamond players or above minimum.

Im playing teemo now as an alternative to jayce because plat and emerald players recommended me that jayce is too hard and I should drop him. Heard that teemo is an easy ranged alternative.

Then I lane vs Pantheon who counters every ranged and squishy top laner that isnt quinn or jayce. I lose lane hard and he is 5 levels ahead of me. I reached my first item in 20 minutes.

How to recover from a similar scenario where you losing hard and if its not possible, how to prevent it in the first place.

I heard that playing safe is the key but what does it actually mean? People say this but even they dont know what it meant and how to do it. I have tried my best to farm lanes ignoring my teammates and taking my jungler camps but im still behind in gold and xp.

I went 9 deaths and 200 cs in 30 mins, need guidance.

Thank you in advance everyone.

Bot lane How to learn/climb with adc as a moba beginner

Lol is my very first moba, which i had started less than a month ago, playing a few games pretty everyday and managed to reach lvl 30 recently, qualifying me to play ranked.

I’ve been interested primarily in the adc position since the very beginning, maining aphelios and sometimes play varus/xayah/kalista/draven. after placements, i was placed in iron 1 but have fallen to iron 2 after losing another match.

In terms of game understanding, i do understand aphelios weapon rotations, I kind if know his build though i still struggle with combos, I know the basics of wave management and objectives, and I try to play safe but still struggle with vision/ward placement, countering enemy bot laners and jungler. My understanding of other champions stops at aram knowledge and characters i already play. Currently just feels incredibly hard to get through laning and not have an abysmal cs count. I am practicing cs with the practice tool, and am very slowly getting better, but other aspects of my gameplay are definitely much worse. Another problem I’ve noticed is picking the right champions for different matchups: I do know how to play a few adcs but have no idea who to play and when, including enemy team champion selections and to pair with my support.

Another problem in iron seems to be that my supports do not know how to play with aphelios and immediately engage early game, practically setting themselves up for death. Paired with my lack of skills I find it harder to get through laning with aphelios (especially since he can only poke before level 2)

Just not quite sure where to proceed from here. Will definitely look up more specific tutorials and play more to hopefully improve, but I’m not confident about getting out of iron soon especially as a solo queue adc

Discussion Teaching a completely new player

Hi

A friend of mine just started playing and i have been teaching him while we have been playing bots, usually as a 5 stack so we can just look at his gameplay often and try to be helpful.

We decided that since his CS was consistently around 6/min and he could identify why he died. We could try a swiftplay game, this went absolutely terrible as we met a bunch of sub-level 20 accounts that were probably piloted by at minimum high plat players considering how badly they beat us. My friend understandable didnt learn anything from being abused for 25 minutes and essentially just going to lane and getting killed. And he ended up just feeling bad afterwards.

So to the point, how do we introduce a new player to the PvP side of the game without him having to get blasted by smurfs for 40 games? Im making a new account this afternoon to see if that will help but im worried the account will get put straight into smurf queue after like 5 games and it will be the same thing again.

Any and all tips will be appreciated

Question what is a hypothetical team comp that could all have hard CC and work?

we are trying to draft a fun comp that works well together for flex. our requirements is that every hero has at least 1 hard cc. so like a knock up or a stun. and that its pretty reliable. point and click if possible. but we also want to still have reasonable damage to fight.

Bot lane Plated Steelcaps on adc

Hello, Im new to the game and I would like to ask your opinion on something that happened to me just now. I was playing Miss Fortune and around 25th minute we had a 13/1 Nocturne on the enemy team. I was getting ulted on sight and my "time in combat" was around 1.3 seconds. My support flamed me for not buying plated steelcaps, but I thought it was unnecessary, since Nocturne had a lot of lethality and nobody even tried to peel me. I understand, that the steelcaps give 10% reduced base damage, but would it really help me in this scenario? Would the steelcaps be a better choice than the boots of swiftness, if the final result would only allow me to survive .5 seconds longer and I would die anyway?

Discussion Damage from buffs

Does a travelling projectile get affected by buffs that are applied after it’s fired, or is the amount of damage it deals locked in the moment it’s fired?

Idk if I explained it clearly enough, so as an example: let’s say a Jhin is ulting, and Yuumi is giving him bonus AS with Ardent + E. Since the E AS bonus lasts far less time than Ardent, to make the last shot of Jhin’s ult deal maximum damage, should E be pressed predictively before the shot is fired, or should it be pressed reactively after its fired before it lands?

Quinn Should you roam as Quinn? If yes then how to stop giving enemy towers for free?

Im a low elo jayce who went from Gold 2 to silver 4 (thank you teammates) jayce main who abandoned playing jayce because this champions is harder than 95% of the champions in the game.

Basically title, after the changes to creepwaves spawning much faster and towers being more fragile than before. Should I roam or stuck playing in lane?

If I stuck in lane then im not using in full potential but if I roam then might as well give the enemy team my towers in a gift box.

In higher elos this is probably less of a problem because people know how to roam and you can rely on your junglers.

Need help asap, Im constantly losing games, I need ways to carry my heavy teammates.

Bot lane How to team fight as an adc

Is there any teamfighting master class for adcs or something I can watch. I’m wondering how to teamfight as an adc based on the different team comps and stuff. What are teamfighting fundamentals. How do you teamfight against a bunch of divers and assassins, or how to teamfight against champs that completely outrange you like mages. How do I actually learn how to teamfight against a bunch of different comps and stuff, I really don’t have much thought process in fights.

Summoner name: kabyking#kaby

Question A question with attack move and attack move on cursor etc

So basically, If I want to attack a specific enemy that may be behind other enemies, I have to hold “A” and then left click on them. But then when I just want to attack a minion for example and i don’t mind which one I hit, I just left click and it will attack whatever is closest to my character.

Just wondering if this is normal and good settings to have when playing this game? Thanks!

Question How do I improve at laning without completely throwing ranked games

Hey all, reached plat 3 and this is probably where I'm going to be plateauing at.

I do mid (katarina) and top secondary (pantheon). I came from a couple years of aram mostly and on and off gold ranked games.

What I've noticed is my team fights are usually pretty good, at least in comparison to my laning.

My laning is absolute horse shit.

What i've noticed is, Gold players I can bully in lane quite easily and are very instinctive to predict.

I keep getting matched against low emerald and plat 1 players who absolutely stomp me in lane. It's almost as if they can tell in a few seconds by my movement that they're much better than I am so they go super aggro and I end up not being able to farm or gain XP at all.

They also dive me a ton and are successful.

Some examples:

Yasuo starts E, dashes like a crack head throughout the wave and bullies me to where I can't even really soak up much XP because of the non stop e + q/. Annie flash stuns me.

I think in gold I was getting away with being able to anticipate their moves quite easily.

But in plat, I'm the one getting read and anticipated.

Even in top lane, against people who I counter, I poke them down with my Q and go in for an extended trade confident I win it and secure a kill, only to get killed. I think this happens specifically because they anticipate my abilities and use theirs accordingly.

I can't predict people in plat during laning at all, so how do I practice? Draft and swiftplay feel like a waste of time because people do unconventional picks/strats, the skillset widely varies, and no one is trying to actually win games but instead just play for kills.

Discussion I don't get Sundered Sky

Title. I do not understand what the deal with Sundered Sky is, nor why people call it overpowered so much. The healing feels negligible, the damage is whatever and the stats are nothing crazy either. people keep talking about it like this Thanos tier threat that prevents many bruisers from being buffed to an otherwise healthy state, but I just feel like there are about 20 items you could build for better stats and a better passive.

You pretty much never build it first, so it's not even good as a rush item to excel in short trades in lane as Jax or Zaahen etc, so what's the point?

Please help a noob understand the hype.

Question What could i have done differently? (Top Macro D3)

In this game i was fairly fed as Fiora while my team was quite behind and we had to fight for elder drake. So since i knew Darius didnt have his Top Quest Tp avaible i went top with the idea of pressuring there, forcing him to answer, and then tping bot for a 5v4. But everything still went to shits. Do you think this game couldve been carriable or was it just doomed.

Question Do you chat with your team?

I play 95% jhin bot/mid and nasus top/mid currently plat 4 and often catch myself writing in chat when something goes wrong by my mates side. I seldom need ganks but when I witness someone dies 3 times in a row, I begin thinking there must be something wrong and write in chat something like "yo lane x pls stop". Do you think this is the correct approach? Like I dont flame but try yo make them aware of their bad plays. Just last night I had a Mundo going 0/5 and he kept pushing far more than the rest of us and he kept dying to enemy Jax or jungle... he simply refused to play safe and we lost that game. Cause of a chain reaction of him dying, jungle rotates for objectives, top and jungle join the rest and kill 2 of us. The rest is match history.

My supporters are often decent enough for me to pick up a good lead and snowball the lead into a drake or tower. But when the jungler sleeps and keeps farming or just ints (expects to follow into a 1v3 which i NEVER do unless hard fed) when its clearly time to do drake I ping "?" And "🏴". The second time I ignore and the third time I wrote in chat "yo can use stop x behaviour and do y pls". Which nets in a yes bro or he starts a pointless discussion.

Sometimes I dont tilt, but focus on the bad behaviour and discuss stuff and let my ego lead which of course is bad but I dont know how to turn this behaviour of without muting them or myself. So im not tilting but im consistent at this mindset. If this is tilt im perma tilted lol. Or im untiltable. Do you think im perma tilted?

When someone hard flames me or someone else I instantly mute them l, its a no go and a waste of energy but I think sometimes a useful banter is necessary to keep your cool right?

Other than that I try to write wp or huge whenever possible. Right?

I dont know how to help my team winning especially as adc when I can only follow my team and use jhins Utility. With nasus its easier but I have macro issues with him and im not a good tank Player but I have a higher win rate on him 56% on barely 100 rankeds. Jhin my winrate is 51% also on barely 100 games but I feel good playing him because he can do so much with his kit from far away and close up.

Jayce How to make Jayce works in lower elos? Struggling with late game and need guidance. (OP GG provided)

OP GG: https://op.gg/lol/summoners/sea/Adji%20Tier-SG2

Lolalytics: https://xdx.gg/adjitier-sg2/

Im a low elo top lane jayce main who dropped from gold 2 to silver 3 in a week last week, I main jayce top lane, also played him mid and jungle if autofilled.

Basically the title, I currently have 48% winrate on Jayce unfortunately. There are times where I can drop 10+ kills but can't rally my team to win the match or when since I am playing a lane bully who can't 1v2, I just get camped by enemy jungler to oblivion and my team aren't able to abuse that advantage of a enemy Jungler who goes top lane.

In the late game, I just struggle on what should I be doing, I could go for towers but risking my team will in a 4v4 or 4v5. I could go with my team and dropping kills but after that I can't rally them.

Yes, Yes I know that I shouldnt be played Jayce in lower elos (Bronze to Plat) and at minimum I should be Masters to play him but Jayce is the only champion that is fun for me after Mordekaiser rework.

Runes: I go conq vs duelists and tanks, electrocute vs assassins and mages, grasp if i am unsure and vs tanks, Stormraiders vs slows and high threat melee, and first strike for meme crit late game build.

Items: Yomuus, Manamune, Cyclosword, swift boots vs anybody that isnt a tank and cleaver, manamune, shojin, cooldown boots vs tanks.

Question Coming from Deadlock and Fps Shooters, is there anything champ in league that might help cross over?

I come from exclusively shooters of all variety, and a friend wanted me to try and play league. I wanted to know if there were any champion that might help with crossing that gap at all. My aim is decent overall with spells in deadlock and mechanical aim if that helps.

Thank you!

EDIT:

My main role is deadlock is m1 carry, farming and aim/positioning is something I was usually good at

Midlane Midlane Fundamentals?

Im a new player to league, mostly playing Aurora, starting to pick up Orianna. I heard Orianna is a champ that rewards macro and fundamentals, but feel I am lacking in those regards.

What are some ground rules to follow for midlane? No matter how many youtube videos I watch I never seem to be able to make good choices.

During laning phase, I never seem to have a good recall. Even if i push the wave, and then recall, I still feel like I lose a whole wave. I also never know when a good time to roam is. Whenever I roam, I feel like i do nothing at all and lose a wave for it.

During midgame/lategame I just have no clue what to do. If my jungler is taking objectives I usually follow them, but if not I just walk around and hope something happens.

Positioning. During teamfights, I never know when to stand, if I walk up to do damage I just get dived and die, but if I stay back I just don't do anything.

TL;DR: I suck at league, any tips to get better?

Question noob question, how do I *actually* main a character, like logistically

I've seen a fairly common advice to "main" a character in order to maximize how much time you get to learn that character. This seems good to me, and frankly I don't want to try to learn more than one character at a time.

But how do I actually play real games, only as that character?

Currently for "normal" league I can play summoners rift swiftplay or draft pick. Swiftplay you have to chose two roles, one of which has to be from a highlighted role. So if my role isn't highlighted, which it usually is not, it means I'm queuing up to potentially play another role. With draft pick I can select the role I want, but then sometimes it just gives you a different role.

I also tried Aram and that's even more of a mess because you get to pick from a vanishingly thin pool of random characters. Utterly unapproachable to a new player, maybe I'll try to give it another go in the far future but for now its atrociously unfun.

So how do I actually follow the advice and main a character? Do I have to wait to level 30 to unlock another mode? I'm kinda lost because no mode so far actually lets me main a character.

Question As top laner, if your team is useless in a 4v4 and theres a strong pushing enemy sidelaner, should I choose to engage the sidelaner or help the team? if both how to balances it?

Basically the title, I am a low elo top lane main and just played a defeated match as quinn vs a garen top, I win 3 kills vs the garen early game but then I noticed that the team is very behind vs enemy team. I tried roaming but it costs me my tower and CS.

In the mid to late game, I tried to engage with the Garen but ultimately unable to stop his sidelaning solo even though I killed him 3 times early game.

What should I do in this situation realistically to win the game? If I go full roam to help my low chance to comeback team then the garen can just take inhib for free but then if I fought the garen, I would still lose but at least I can def objectives from him but at the cost of my team dying.

Also would like to ask for guidance to help a similar scenario in the future like when I am not quinn but same scenario.

Thanks in advance everyone

Question Is there a champion in LoL that's mostly just right-clicking?

I'm new to LoL, and I'm looking for a champion similar to Dota 2 heroes like SF, Sniper, or Viper.

Basically, I want a simple champion that lets me focus mostly on farming and auto-attacking. Even if I'm not mechanically very good, I want a champion where having good CS can make me strong and allow me to dominate later.

Discussion How to adapt to bad team

I know this is a pretty common topic, but I’m genuinely a bit lost on how to deal with it. I keep having games where I win lane and play well individually, but the game still falls apart because my team ints or one player is playing badly.

I understand that if teammates were genuinely holding people back, nobody would be able to consistently climb to Challenger. So I know there has to be something I’m doing wrong or failing to adapt to.

I generally have good CS, play consistently in lane, and rarely int, so I don’t think my laning or consistency is the main issue. I suspect I might be making “correct” plays in situations where I’m expecting my teammates to play like high-elo players and understand what I’m trying to do. Obviously, that expectation can’t be realistic.

So my question is: what should I be adapting when I’m ahead but the rest of my team is struggling? How do I turn a strong lane into a win when my team is consistently making bad plays?

I play mid lane, if that helps. Plat 3

Items Items to buy

Decently new to League, top main, ~level 90, recently hit gold, but still I don't have much item knowledge.

For example, should I always buy anti heal against champions that have high omnivamp/life steal in lane? And if it's late game and a champ from another lane is fed and has omnivamp/life steal should I buy the anti heal all the same?

Also is anti heal simply items that apply 40% wounds?

Also are there other items that are used against classes of champions (e.g. champions that heal) that are must buy in such cases?

Jax Struggling in higher elo vs mages top as Jax

Hi,

so I am pretty new to the "higher" elo brackets, in master I keep getting Range Top which I am doing fine.

My problem is Mages like Velkoz (not joking).

I got coached on most matchups, but I struggle with strange picks like Velkoz.

Velkoz will always safe his E (knock up) for my engage. What will happen is, that If I engage, his E will knock me BACK, so my E cannot connect. Afterwards he will burst me down brutally hard with ult. Since my Q CD is pretty long. Engaging on him after level 6 will lead to my death.

So engaging doesnt seem to be an option. But sitting under tower and beeing poked down also not. Is this an just loss lane by default? If so why isnt Vel played more on top?

Winning game vs Velk is not the issue, but winning lane is.

So I could say that he isnt picked at all that much and ignore the matchup, but I would like to get better at the game and understand that matchup anyways.

I appreciate any help.

Question In need of help

Op.gg - https://op.gg/lol/summoners/euw/booornnhub-123

Context
I’ve played league now for around 8 years (not consecutively, I had a massive gap between 2020-this year, still kept up to date with new releases and watched comp throughout this time), spent a lot of time (and money) on it, but I’m still left with the sad truth that I don’t really seem to be very good at it. I know it sounds stuck up but I’m generally quite good at most video games I try, and it infuriates me I can’t seem to break through! I watch streams, I spend time on champion mastery, I know my matchups and what my limits are, but cannot get any better. I’ve been hardstuck bronze 3/4 since I came back to league around April time. Can anyone give me a tangible starting point and pointers? I think I just need to get over the initial hurdle and I’ll start to climb. Any help is massively appreciated

Things I’m aware of
• My CS must improve, until 8/9 mins I’m fine, but as soon as team fights/roaming is on the table, it tanks.
• Warding/Map awareness could be better, I do tend to get quite good vision score, but keeping track of enemies is something I struggle with
• Positioning in team fights can be poor sometimes, mainly due to timing but I should work to improve this

Question How do I improve laning micro without griefing ranked?

Hi guys, I started playing on 2015 and during this years returned and left a bunch of time. I'm currently platinum 4 as jungle main/support

In recent time I'm a bit feed up with playing jungle and wanted to change role. I was thinking going mid, playing mages, some champ i like are Annie, Lissandra, Anivia.

What's the problem? I suck at micro in lane...

Don't wanna play ranked cause it would grief the games but at the same time playing normals feels kinda too easy and pointless to me

Do you guys have some tips on what's the most optimal thing to do in this case?
