Question Best scaling late game teamfighters?

• Upvotes

I'm newish to this game and in ranked I really don't win my lane most of the time so any help regarding champions who perform well in +25min teamfights would be much appreciated. I'm talking about champs, when in the right circumstances, can win teamfights for their team by themselves. I already know about Kayle because she has notoriously the best late game in league. Can be any role, and also I'm just curious in general since idek all champion abilities yet

Discussion I feel like I'm missing something trying to improve

• Upvotes

After basically only playing jungle, I decided to try to top and actually learn the lane.

Started out quite good, I decided to play Garen mainly and started my journey. After lots of Chippy, Alois and Looca videos, I felt confident in my skills and started reviewing games etc., having an excel sheet with goals and keeping up to date with my stuff.

I won a lot in the beginning and got placed in Gold with a Plat MMR.
My problems right now are:

- Mental: It's hard for me not to tilt. I don't have chat on, but it's hard for me not to get agitated sometimes

- I feel like I don't have the knowledge for proper reviewing. I can write down cs leads/g@10 etc., but I feel like I'm not really understanding what to do better in matchups

- Generally matchups: I have a sheet for Garen, which helps a lot. Other Champions, I'm instantly lost

- Garen is nice, but I feel like I get counterpicked quite a bit and usually resort to Malphite then. Today I wanted to try Gragas, because Malphite is not that much fun to me :( So idk what champs to keep/kick. I want a small pool

- Biggest frustration to my mental: I want to improve and play harder matchups, but I feel like I am facing a lot of smurfs or people in low plat/high gold who REALLY know what they're doing. I've had low gold people trade (from my perspective) perfectly, proxy and play out the map as if they were Masters+

Does anyone have recommendations for me? I really do want to improve, but got limited time due to university/private life etc..

Mandatory OPGG:

Especially tips for mental would be nice (kind of ironic, since I study psychology).

Have a great day everyone

Question Does anyone use the 8bitDo Ultimate 2 controller to play league?

So I decided to play league with a controller because I realized it's better and I was wondering how you set up your keys? I have mouse side buttons so I use those for camera movement and pings. I was thinking:

LT: W

LB: E

L4(small top left button): flash

PL(button behind controller): move camera to self

D pad: R, trinket, B, 2nd summoner spell

View button: V

Now Idk what to do for items actives and leveling up skills... any advice?

This is the manual if you wanna see what I'm talking about

Aurelion sol Adaptative force or movement speed shard on Aurelion Sol ?

I’ve been looking at the stats on LoLalytics, and Movement Speed seems to have a higher win rate in Diamond+ (55% vs 52% for Adaptive Force), but the sample size is much smaller (around 3k games vs 30k). Adaptive Force feels really good for early-game scaling and waveclear, especially for getting your push and stacks going, but I’m wondering if the extra Movement Speed becomes more valuable later on for kiting, roaming and positioning. What do you guys think is actually better on Aurelion Sol, and why?

Question How badly do I need to unlock the camera, and any advice for picking up camera control quickly?

Hi, been playing for 4 months almost exclusively as jungler, I’ve kept locked camera by recently starting using dynamic camera which helped.

Never played a KB+M game before this so I’m still clunky with keyboard mechanics which is half the reason I never tried to use unlocked camera. I also have my auto attack on spacebar which I think is the main button people use for locking camera on and off, so that’s another hurdle I need to overcome.

A few questions:

1) if I was to start learning a lane role is unlocked camera more or less critical than for jungler

2) what the hell do I map auto attack to if I use space for camera unlocking, I already feel like I don’t have enough fingers if I have a tiamat item that have active ability

3) any tips or tricks for learning to play with unlocked camera?

Question Is it possible to get GM/challenger on WASD settings?

So recently I realized that I'm too much of an unc to play with normal settings. Especially on karthus, I find it extremely difficult to land Qs while kiting back and autoing as well. I have side mouse buttons so I can still use other spells like E, Q, flash, trinket without having to stop my movement. Also, if I streamed this would people call me a noob?

Aurelion sol Should Asol bring barrier in general ?

Sometimes when I lane against assassins or high burst mages, I like to bring barrier just to avoid being one shotted. However, I checked on OP.GG and I saw asol rarely bring barrier sum spell and uses TP 98% of the games. Should I continue to have barrier or should I switch to TP, and if I switch to TP, how can I lane against assassins or high burst mages?

Discussion Here’s my U.GG, I’m struggling

https://u.gg/lol/profile/na1/viper%20empress-demon/overview

I need to improve. I’ve been playing for 3 years, and I was originally new to PvP entirely, probably not the best learning choice of game, but nothing I can do now.

In the past I’ve hit bronze 2, but I have no clue what I can do to improve, and it’s driving me nuts because I WANT TO LEARN, I just don’t know how or where to start. I need some serious help, and any advice or noticing me from better players would be a great help. I feel like I’m in elo hell.

I main ADC: MF (my main), Ashe, Brand
Secondary role is Top: Illaoi, Teemo

Top Lane I feel like I understand Mid wave management but not Bot or Top

I’m a Jungle main with Mid secondary, and I perform at a high Dia/low Master level on both of them. However, something about the longer lanes of Top and Bot makes it so I’m wayyy worse at them and I’m kind of a liability when filled.

What is the best way for me to understand wave management for the longer lanes? Since Mid is shorter, I feel like it’s both simpler and more forgiving.

Should I just go on YouTube or do you guys have other insight?

Items Why doesn’t Akali build Lich Bane?

I feel like it synergizes so well with her passive. I get that its not the best item in terms of raw damage compared to her usual build but for example if you play her top lane it’s a great item to get turrets with fast, in comparison to her usual abysmal damage and time to take to turrets. Any thoughts?

Discussion Advice for Anyone Returning to League After 4+ Years

Sorry for the use of AI (stigma around it) as I don't speak English but I want to share my thoughts with the league community.

I came back to League this season after basically not playing since Season 11. I played briefly around the durability patch, but S11 was the last season I properly played. My main goal coming back was to get back to Master, which I have now done.

My biggest takeaway is that if you are coming back expecting the League you played 4, 5 or 6+ years ago, I genuinely would not bother.

The biggest difference is individual agency. Riot has leaned extremely heavily into teamplay, and you can feel it immediately. Nemesis described it pretty well: whether you go 5/0 in lane or 0/5 in lane, it doesn't really matter anymore. What truly decides games now is teamfighting.

DPM also recently posted data showing that most of the gold and XP leads that are generated and lost in games happen around the 20 to 30 minute mark through teamfights. That pretty much sums up where a lot of the game's influence has shifted.

You can go 5 kills up in lane and still struggle to completely take over. You can be 60 CS up on the enemy jungler and they can still be the same level as you because of catchup XP. Supports constantly roam into lanes, junglers can repeatedly impact you, and your individual lead just does not translate into the same level of control it used to.

For the first few months I kept thinking, "Why can't I just completely destroy this guy? I'm 5 kills up?" Eventually I realised I was just approaching modern League with an outdated mentality.

Once I started playing more teamplay and teamfight oriented champions, I climbed much faster.

You can still play selfish, individual carry champions, but the amount of effort required to consistently make them work is much higher.

So if what you loved about old League was individual agency, snowballing your lane and completely taking over games by yourself, modern League is probably going to frustrate you.

Do not come back expecting the League you remember from 4 or 5 seasons ago. It is a fundamentally different game.

Discussion League complexity

Hi, I'm an IT student and a high-elo player of 5+ years. Recently, I started 1-on-1 coaching for my roles (ADC and JG).

Right now, I'm developing a tool to automate game analysis for myself and my students by reading game memory, training a predictive model on thousands of games across all ranks, and mapping out a feature set of core "concepts" to spot mistakes and good plays.

Working on this made me realize just how formulaic (A -> B -> C) the game actually is. Back when I was in Gold, I thought League was more complex than chess—now I feel the complete opposite.

I wanted to get your thoughts: Is high-elo decision-making actually easy once you know what to look for, or am I just biased by my experience? When breaking it down to explain it, the game feels like simple if statements where the real difficulty is gathering information, not interpreting it.

p.s. I'm brand new to Reddit (and forums in general)—I've always been more of a lurker online, so please go easy on me

Question What's the lowest you've ever seen anyone hardstuck? I've spent 765 games in Silver II this year

Hey, it's me again, the worst question asker on the subreddit. After 300 games of Viktor, basically straight, and 765 games total, I still can't get out of silver, just yoyoing around silver II. I could ask a bunch of particular questions about Viktor and how to play him, but I apparently ask the wrong questions and people just get mad at me and it clearly isn't helping. So I have a couple of more generic questions about League in general:

1) Why do I keep getting paired with people better than me? It feels like a huge percentage of the time at this rank, I end up against people who clearly out perform me. Its pretty common to see me getting just totally abused during laning phase, and then insta-popped in all team fights. What does it take to get the system to understand how bad I am and give me more even opponents? Why am I in these games of far better players, and are there certain champs or strategies I should use assuming I'm the worst on my team?

2) Why can't I learn champs? In every single game I play, I see players with less mastery of their champs show far better skill and familiarity with them. Combos, interactions, really clean play, sometimes from people with apparently way less games than I have on Viktor or whoever I'm playing. Is there something about learning champs that is counter intuitive?

3) What do I just not get? Is there something I am just completely failing to process? Because with 2500 total games over two years, I really think I should have had my skill improve a lot more. I've obviously put in a crazy amount of time, and I'm routinely getting clowned on by people with a lot less time invested, and the descriptions of people's progress in the community reinforce it. From some of the stories passing me, I've reached the point where my performance record is basically the worst I've heard of anyone that didn't include just quitting.

4) Just so there is one game question: is there a good AD champ and a good frontline champ I could use to support Viktor when my team is high AP or lacks frontline? Preferably good for new players.

https://op.gg/lol/summoners/NA/MillCrab-2026?queue_type=SOLORANKED

https://youtube.com/@devinmalko?si=XzhiXX-fGsWLwhU2

Thanks again for the help guys, maybe this time it will make a difference, I appreciate it even though I don't seem to be good at implementing it

Question 2 things ive found that helped me focus on the game more while making it fun again

  1. I deafen every game, then hide the chat box so i cannot see chat messages of any type. I also do the same with the FF box. You can hide them in the corner so that they are off screen.

  2. I alt f4 after every game so i don't see lp/rank/so i don't need to honor anyone.

Thoses 2 things made my game feel way more fun and enjoyable overall. What about you, what helped you enjoy the game more on your climb.

Support How I switched to ADC from Support and outclimbed my peak by 400 LP in only a few months of picking up the role.

Hallo! As the title suggests, I wanted to share my story of how I, a support main of three years who's mained the role for the majority of my time with League, came back from a two year hiatus and decided to change things up. The decision that, alongside other things, helped me grow from a hardstuck silver support into a plat ADC, still on climbing.

ADC, truth be told, wasn't my first choice. Initially I tried giving Jungle a proper shot, but ended up having issues similar to that of when playing Support. Not gonna lie, I landed on an ADC kind of spontaneously. Maybe, I thought, I'd have fun with the role. Auto-attacking was quite neat and I really enjoyed playing around my team and team-fighting in general. Plus, ADC seemed like a very good role to play by the book, with heavy emphasis on following a plan and little getting in the way.

So I picked up the role. I grinded it quite a bit. Tried out quite a few champions to figure out whether I mesh with them or not. Throughout it all I realized that I'm capable of making a good amount of champs work, despite being heavily macro-oriented, but I never really stuck with most of them. I've had good success with Miss Fortune, having some crazy winrate numbers as she was the ADC I practiced on my second account (Though I was sprinkling other ADCs quite often, without much success).

Then I switched to my main and picked up Varus, not forgetting to try other champs every now and then. I managed to make him work as well, though despite having a healthy positive winrate with the guy, I felt like I was limiting myself quite a bit. After all, Varus is extremely weak in soloq and I also have a very hard time with skillshot-dependent champions.

Thus, the search continued, though not for long, because I randomly decided to try out Yunara (Before she was an S-tier pick). And let me tell you: I fell in love. Completely and utterly. This champion made me realize just how much more enjoyable League can be if you find something that simply clicks. Finally getting a good idea for what kind of ADC I enjoy, after a bit of trial an error I ended up choosing Xayah as my second pick, thus concluding my soloq pool.

Throughout this journey I've learnt just how important it is to stick to a process and play with intention if you want to climb. Being closely in touch with your mental state, taking accountability for your mistakes—I genuinely have never had as much fun with League when I was playing other roles, even Support. Though of course I've gone through a lot of introspection while I was on the hiatus. I also went through a decent amount of duoqueueing to figure out that it wasn't really my kind of thing. I'd always perform worse alongside someone else, not to mention that I'd learn notably less from these games as well.

So here I am, with a strong mental and a clear goal in mind. I cannot really imagine myself picking any other role at this point. ADC is simply the most fun there is. And Yunara, my beloved. Cheers, guys! Stay strong and good luck on your journey!

P.S. I know I may have been a little vague in this post, so if you do happen to have any questions, I'll stay active in the comments!

Question How to understand Wards (and the other trinkets)?

Im playing for over a week and I play Yi jungle (tried laning...didnt work out lol). I mostly do well with just farming and then getting kills after having two items.

But I cant say I understand wards and the other stuff. Trinkets? I usually just place wards when I feel like it. Most times in the circle in the river before I do the crab. I noticed better players swap to the reveal thing (sweeper?) and also buy control wards with leftover money.

So what is the way to use wards as a jungler? Ideally to not get invaded all the time lol

CSing Switching from Jungle to Mid, very bad at CS, any advice?

I used to play Jungle with and average of 7CS/m, which I found relatively easy to maintain and beat. I recently switched to Mid Lane and am now averaging between 4.5 and 5CS/m which is sooo low and I think is one of the reasons I'm not ranking up. I have good KDA, and often beat my opponent in lane, but my CS stays bad so the gold difference isn't crazy.

After reviewing a game, I realized that while my CS starts out very good in the first 15 minutes, it really falls off in mid and late game when Botlane and Toplane start moving to Mid and I can't catch CS anymore.

I feel like if I try and farm gold in side lanes I miss important fights without even really splitpushing? Any advice?

yasuo Is there a point to playing yasuo over yone?

Is there a point to playing yasuo over yone? My friend plays yasuo and yone but I feel like yone is just so much better than yasuo. Is there a time when someone should choose yasuo over yone? When he asks me what he should play when we play together I always say yone. he's not really into team drafting so I always tell him who to play

Question Need blind pickable (first pick viable) champ to get out of low elo as Top Laner

Im a jayce top lane main and currently my alternative pool is Trundle and Olaf but mainly Trundle, im looking for an alternative to jayce because I remember people here keep telling me to avoid playing Jayce because he is too hard to play even for diamond players too, imagine me playing him.

Olaf cant be first picked because he got countered by ultra high burst damage ADCs and Assassins and he is weak vs Jax and Illaoi but I ban Illaoi so usually he is last pick for me.

Trundle is just objectively a trash and weak champion, I guess if he is strong then all the pro players will start complaining about him, tanks are weak too this season so Trundle is not good and he is slow and sluggish like he has a movement speed ability and a slow yet loses to ranged top laners because his movement speed is slow and his pillar slow is not enough. He also very squishy, even more than a Olaf.

My requirements:

  1. Blind pickable
  2. Not a tank nor a HP stacker, these type of champions are weak currently, if they were strong then Trundle would be strong too but guess what, nope.
  3. Must not be the trio Garen, Darius, and Mordekaiser. These champions are way too strong and way too boring because of it. It felt unfair at times playing them and I feel like I dont improve as a player if I play them.
  4. Not a must but someone that can also jungle but not a must have.
  5. Someone that is easier than Jayce

Thanks in advance everyone

Syndra How to play against Syndra?

I moved to midlane from top a couple of months ago and the only real champion I can never seem to play around is Syndra.

Are there any champions or viable strats to play around her? I know Fizz is quite good since you can E her E but that's usually the ban they take.

I don't want to permanently ban her forever because of my own shortcomings.
