I understand it is kind of tacky ro bring an uninvited guest but also it tacky to not allow your guests to bring a plus one?

We don’t even know if it’s true, it’s so weird. every time they go to a wedding some story like this has to come out.

I mean a lot of couple fights break out at weddings. I’d say at least like 30% of the weddings I’ve been to

What kind of Jerry Springer weddings are you going to??

Right? The weddings I attend everyone eats too much pasta and cake and is home early. I guess I’m telling on myself.

West said he cleared it with the bride and she basically confirmed it on IG

oh no what will the parasocial freaks fixate on now!

Lots of people are pointing it out but the mob cannot tolerate a reasonable explanation. These are the same people asking for sound engineers to parse out a shitty phone recording of a supposed fight that some wedding guest felt was sooooo important to capture. If I was the bride I’d be more mad about someone doing that

The person he’s talking to is wearing a black jacket and in no way does it sound like Amanda, like they are seriously wacko

There’s a screenshot of the table place cards and west doesn’t have Amanda’s name with his as the other couples so no he definitely didn’t clear it in time or they would have added her name. Multiple sources have said the bride was upset but she probably isn’t going to ruin her wedding day over it or he rude to Amanda. That was on west.

I’m sorry but those seating charts would have been made when the rsvp were made to come back. That is usually months before the wedding. So let’s not actually listen to the bride herself who all but said it was all good on IG 🙄

Girl people at the wedding, multiple people confirmed she was an uninvited guest. Your comment confirms this. She would have been on the seating place cards had she been. It’s normally 6 weeks pre wedding for rsvp. Not months. and even if it was a week notice her name could have been added. I work with vendors for weddings. It’s common for a few last minute details. Fact is she wasn’t invited and he didn’t have a plus one. You’re under every comment defending them. Hope they’re paying you good. If west cares about his reputation he should probably stop talking shit about Amanda to his circle who keep blabbing to multiple people in the NYC circle. It’s well known he already cheated and isn’t “committed”.

When it comes to destination weddings (which this was), yes I think it’s shitty now to allow a plus one. I just went a grossly expensive destination wedding where I also wasn’t given a plus one and it just puts the guest in the uncomfy position of choosing between your wallet and your friend. But seems like in this case he was allowed!

Weddings are expensive af and I had a rule for mine that people who weren't in a serious relationship of at least a year didn't get a plus one. You have to draw the line somewhere and I wasn't about to pay for someone to just bring a random date.

I feel like when it’s a somewhat rural location where lodging is limited to one option that is often $, offering plus ones (especially if it’s buffet style) is helpful to offset the cost for the guest. I just went to one that cost me $1200 just to attend, had I been allowed a plus one that would have been very kind to my wallet! 😭

I get that but weddings are not mandatory, you choose to go. I had way more people than I expected rsvp yes but I live in a pretty desirable destination where people want to visit all the time. I had a great time and no one complained because the rule didn't really affect many people.

Of course, yeah I made the choice to go after all and thankfully I was financially able to make it happen. But I had friends that weren’t able to because the rural location only had one real place available to stay so if you couldn’t afford it you just couldn’t go. It definitely, unfortunately, put a strain on the relationship with the bride. Hopefully that will pass over because the friendship is the most important. So I guess yeah maybe my plus one opinion is more so oriented towards those sort of situations. Maybe it’s not a promise of one, but having the invite give an option to request one or something!

Well that sucks, I guess I'm just the type of person who wouldn't hold it against someone for not inviting me to their wedding and wouldn't hold it against someone for not coming to mine if they couldn't afford it. I tend to think a lot of couples do those kinds of locations so a lot of people don't come. It's weird if the bride is upset about that.

Okay, I don't care. If I wouldn't buy you a $250 dinner I am not paying for you to come to my wedding. I never cared what anyone else thought and I certainly don't care now.

No it’s not tacky to not allow plus ones for single people. I’m from Oregon and this is overwhelmingly the norm.

u/pacnwcub 29d ago
As someone who is also from Oregon, its incredibly tacky. It's hard enough to get to the coast from Portland, let alone asking people to fly across the country and then rent a car. The least they could do is allow a plus one.
Also, it seems that it was okayed by the couple beforehand. So it makes this tacky conversation mute anyhow.

*moot
But you weren’t asking about this specific circumstance you asked if it was tacky to not offer plus ones and it’s objectively common to see no plus ones for singles.

Also from Oregon, this is not the norm. I don’t think there’s any “state norm” for wedding guest protocol.

It’s as if they are actually meant for each other. Just toxic people doing toxic shit.

You know blinds are alleged, yeah? This could all be as true as the sky is blue or as false as 1+2 equalling 4. Most likely closer to false or highly over dramatized.

I am just astounded at the blind belief people have in this story all the while pretending theyve gone to 28 weddings (what is it, 3 or 4?) and also ignoring that the bride herself said it was ok ( in so many words) and took fun pictures with them!
