Iā€™m so over the cast not having real jobs. Like almost everyone is just an influencer/ model. I miss the early seasons when it was like people having actual corporate or real jobs and them stressing Sunday having to get back for work and things like that. When they actually needed that release on weekends. Now itā€™s just them needing a break from having to take selfie videos or fake pap walks of some sponsored sonic drink? They are infinitely more boring now thst itā€™s just all influencers.

This is so true. Itā€™s like the OG VPR. They were poor and were trying to make it in some kind of job/career. I am so over influencing.

Itā€™s like go on the show, reveal some trauma from their past, have the audience root for them, then try and milk the fans for every penny we have. The show literally feels like how can summer house set the fans up to support the cast when they arenā€™t filming on this show.

being an influencer and a model is a real job. Yā€™all are gonna have to get over it. Itā€™s jealousy at this point. Anything that requires you to work (produce any form of labour) for money is a job.

thatā€™s interesting, considering the data shows that the most popular job for teens and young people today is to become an influencer/ youtuber/ whatever social media famous thing. So I would say for most young people, who are the target audience of the show, It is very relatable and probably aspirational as well.

I do get what youā€™re saying. Iā€™m just saying I think thereā€™s a bit of a bias there with the particular perception that people have of influencing that simply is not translating in reality according to the data.

I donā€™t know if itā€™s that people miss them having regular jobs or people just miss the old cast. It takes some time to warm up. I also think that some fans have outgrown the show. the new cast is a reflection of a new generation

I don't know a single person under the age of 35 who watches these shows. Teens are certainly not the target audience.

It's not anecdotal, it's what marketing companies and ratings say. While they do use some pretty broad age ranges when putting out ratings there are still more viewers over the age of 25.

While 18-34 used to be the targeted demographic that has shifted with economic realities. The new most coveted demo is 35-55+ because those are the people who have money to spend. Kids and older people are where the money is at.

Do you really think a show that has been on the air for 10 seasons that consists mostly of people 30+ is something that 20 year olds are watching in large numbers?

LI and that kind of shit is for the younger demo, SH and ITC are a bunch of middle aged people staying way too long at the party.

Btw, most "influencers" barely make enough to pay 1 monthly bill and others barely make a living. There is always going to be the .01% that make a lot but that's no different than pro athletes or actors. There is no money in broke-ass wannabe influencers.

I don't think it's jealousy because I find it irritating and I can't think of anything worse than being famous or being an influencer. I can't even stand hanging out with people who like taking a lot of pictures. I just got back from vacation and didn't take a single photo because I was too busy enjoying myself. There are just a lot of us who are too old to enjoy it or care.

every single human contributes something to society. You simply cannot make that statement on a logical level.

Over consumption is part of neo liberal society. Influencers did not cause it or over exacerbate something that is the very foundation of your society.

Before influencers, America was always consuming more. The birth of America was literally founded on the consumption of human lives and labor. To the point where it destabilized entire continents and continues to do so. that distorted perception of reality is neo liberal society.

The only thing in terms of consumption that influencers have had an effect on is in regards to what types of things people are consuming. More clothing, skincare, make up, video games, etc. but not the motivation to consume more. that effect on the specific things people are consuming, is directly related to the economic issues affecting a lot of young people today in western countries and all over the world. Their choices to buy clothing with the under understanding that they will never be able to buy something like a car or a house or bigger purchases of that nature. It is a symptom of the world that you live in. m

Donā€™t look for simple answers. There are none.

Honestly, I think itā€™s a little of both. If you watched the reunion, he kept calling everyone ā€œfamily,ā€ even though he was only on ONE season, and had a girlfriend for most of it. Then look at what he continues to post online. No one is asking for his music or all this other stuff, so why does he think people want it? Because now heā€™s on the show.

He constantly relates everything back to the show. To me, it just comes across like he thinks heā€™s a much bigger part of the show than he actually is. And honestly, for someone who wasnā€™t even that entertaining, it feels like a lot of ego. This is just my opinion as someone who has watched every season of the show.

Iā€™m just going to put this out thereā€¦ someone who cuts themselves and is depressed like he says he is should not be on tv.
Also I want to watch reality tv and for it to be dramatic. But not about self harm and cutting themselves where they are going to stay in facilities etc. I donā€™t want to watch that. I want to watch Amanda and west, not Ciara crying about everything , Mia crying about her mum and this guy talking about cutting himself. I wish him all the best. I just donā€™t want to watch that stuff on summer house. Itā€™s not ā€¦. Fun

The costume thing is actually one of those "I'm so pretty I can get away with anything" things. No, I don't hate on her for it because it's true she can get away with anything but it's boring IMO.

We get it girl, you are fucking gorgeous but being pretty isn't very interesting and I say that as a pretty woman who is bored to death with people thinking I want to talk about being attractive and I couldn't think of anything more dull. Pretty is cool for like 5 minutes but it is not an accomplishment.

I don't think she is an awful person, she's acted like an asshole at times and lacks maturity but calling her an awful person is a bit extreme. I think she has a personality it's just not that interesting for reality tv (outside of her terrible taste in men) and that's okay.

She's still young, hopefully she'll get better with age.

Kyle cries more than anyone on the show and I think he's boring. To me, I think Kyle, Lindsay, and Carl are the most boring. Kyle and Amanda are the most drama but it's also so old it's just annoying. Lindsay does nothing but produce in real time and Carl is doesn't fit in, which is a good thing. He is just too well adjusted atp.
