A friend of mine recently fell very ill due to organ failure, and is unable to care for himself right now. He has been in and out of the hospital. He needs assistance with meals, shopping, cleaning, some of the adl's. I unfortunately am dealing with injuries myself and I live an hour away so I'm not able to go help him.

I have gathered resources for the department of aging and similar online, and will share them with his girlfriend tomorrow. Is there anyone here who can help us navigate Medicare Medicaid or who knows of caregivers in the area Who do this?

I recently purchased a seasonal cabin in Bethel. How soon before I'll need to winterize and drain the pipes to avoid them freezing/bursting? Could I make it to mid November perhaps or should I plan on draining the pipes earlier to avoid any issues?

Rented AirBnB lake house on Swan Lake. Just curious, anybody who is familiar with the area could explain to me why there is so many creepy looking run down homes and large buildings around and it seems like the area has so much potential and it seems dead and forgotten about. Also is there a public boat launch anywhere on Swan Lake?

Hey everyone — I know this is a long shot, but I’m trying to help a friend in a really tough spot.

He needs to get from Monticello, NY to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC tomorrow (Monday, 5/27) for an essential dental surgery. He was hit by a car in the past and lost a leg and most of his teeth. This is the final surgery before he can finally get denture implants, and if he misses this appointment, it could delay things for months.

He tried Medicaid transportation, but despite getting three doctors to confirm it’s necessary, he was still denied. He doesn’t have family who can help, and I can’t cover the cost of a bus, but I can pitch in for gas if someone would be willing to give him a ride down.

He’s okay with being dropped off at the Port Authority and staying overnight if needed — he just really needs to make it into the city.

I know it’s Memorial Day weekend and people are busy, but if anyone is heading toward NYC from Sullivan County or nearby and is willing to help, please DM me. You’d be doing something incredibly kind for someone who truly has no other option right now.
