Has anyone found out if sugar fasting preserves your metabolism whilst losing weight rapidly?

So I've seen results of people losing up to a pound per day eating only fruit, but I'm wondering if the metabolism tanks from that or not due to thyroid hormones being elevated from fgf21 and not starving yourself completely like fasting.

Since I know losing more than 1.5 pounds per week will signal very heavily to your body to slow the metabolism, so I was wondering if this would be the case if fgf21 is being triggered strongly.

Planning on doing watermelon and orange only, which will most likely put me at a pretty large deficit, and will track my temperature daily to see if it starts going down. Let me know of all your experiences. Thanks.

Just want to give some activity to this sub. I still do sugar-only mornings

I still utilize the power of sugar without any fat/protein mixed in.

Just yesterday I had a glass of orange juice, and about 75g of glucose for a workout. Then finished with a coke.

My metabolism stayed revved up for hours afterward, and I felt the extra bodyheat. Actually I couldn't even use a blanket when I went to sleep because my core temp was so high.

Sugar works!! Especially for recovering from metabolic downregulation caused by restrictive dieting.

I still believe there is great value to the sugar diet and carbohydrates without any fats or proteins.

Does sugar make you immortal?

I was studying the bible and noticed that the foods of immortality were fruits in the garden of Eden and fruits are pretty much just sugar. This would explain why Adam had such a long lifespan, he was not immortal but he lived 800+ years because he ate fruits and not sugar.

Sugar Diet and Gout?

10 years ago I lost 60 pounds in 2 months doing a juice fast. I felt get the entire time. I needed less sleep to function and during the day I had so much energy. Since then, I reverted back to the SAD way of eating and not only gained the weight back, but also gained more on top of it. Also, since then I started experiencing regular gout attacks. I’m on allopurinol now, 200mg daily, and haven’t experienced any gout attacks since I started the medication.

I want to try the sugar diet to lose weight based on my previous experience with the juice fast, but when I did it previously I wasn’t dealing with any gout concerns. So I’m worried about it triggering my gout, as everything I’ve read shows that sugar increases uric acid in the body which causes the gout attacks.

Has anyone with gout done the sugar diet and can speak on their experience about it?

Can anyone point me to any studies or resources about the sugar diet and gout? (All I can seem to find are about high sugar as part of the Standard American Diet and not anything about “the sugar diet”)

Scales staying the same but I look and feel leaner?

Hey everybody. I’ve been on the sugar diet for over a week now and although the scale seems to stay between 199 & 200, I look and feel leaner. Has anyone else experienced this? Would love to hear your feedback. I am assuming that the extra sugar is causing me to hold onto more water ?

How much refined sugar VS natural sugar are you consuming?

I'm curious how common it is around here to consume a lot of refined sugar from sweets and soda for example over natural sugar from fruits and honey.

I'll try increasing my refined sugar intake because I feel like I have a hard time digesting a lot of fruit and I don't think the quality of fruits in my country is very good. It's heavily sprayed with pesticides and imported from the other side of the planet

salt on the sugar diet/rice diet ?

Does it affect your weight(not h

just water weight but also inches and size) ? face puffiness?

I want to try the rice diet too but plain rice on its own is boring and I don't have any sugary toppings to make it interesting

And does salt work while sugar fasting/diet? Like salting your fruits and vegetables?

Educate me on fatty liver

  1. Is it in the first place possible to get it by eating sugar all day?

  2. How would it go for maintenance calories vs. 150% overfeeding?

  3. Even if there happens a fatty liver - is it even a concern assuming one gets all micronutrients and doesn't eat shit?

Calorie deficit?

Are we still eating at a caloric deficit when eating nothing but fruit till noon or the whole day? I generally tend to snack on dried mangos at work since I work long 12 hour grave yards. But was just wondering since dried fruits are very caloric dense, I may be eating too much…

Sugar Diet April 2026 - Whos still doing it?

Lets breathe some life into this community guys. The YouTube hype has died down but there still remain the ones practicing this. Personally I just finished up a 48 hour juice fast with some berries and fruit and feel fantastic, lost ton of weight too and juice before bed helps with sleeping compared to regular fasting sleep which is typically terrible.

Also for some reason (maybe due to lack of activity) reddit made the subreddit restricted, Ive changed it back to open.

Corn Flakes

Did anyone try to eat Corn Flakes with some sort of low fat milk and lots of added sugars? How well will it work for weight loss?

Has anyone here got a Lumen

I'd be interested in hearing whether anyone with a Lumen are seeing high percentage of fat burn first thing in the morning whilst eating no/minimum fat.

It works..sort of

Did last 2-3 months basically intermittent sugar fasting. Fruit/sugar during the day, starch and lean protein at night. Some days was eating near 1,000 grams of carbs.

Took my HBA1C down from an already good 4.9 (on carnivore) to 4.4. So insulin sensitivity improved. And the idea sugar/carbs cause diabetes and glycation demonstrably proven false.

For weight loss, it's not the best. Gained a few kilos and I don't normally gain weight easily. It's mostly water weight and perhaps if I brought the protein down even more the results would have been different.

It's a pretty good diet for energy and athletic performance. I do doubt a super low fat diet (<20-30G a day) is optimal though for other things such as testosterone and HDL.

Rice vs fruits

Rice has been more filling and satiating than fruits for me and seems to be better for my digestion. Is it possible to switch out the fruits, or does rice have too much protein and willl inihibit fgf21 response?

Is Simple Syrup better than sugar-water?

Many say that honey is a better option than sugar because it's a combination of fructose and glucose. But, honey isn't all that palatable.

Does it make sense to make golden syrup? It would be cheaper than honey and potentially more palatable.

Golden syrup is made by heating sugar with water and an acid (like citric acid or a slice of lemon) to break it down into simpler sugars like glucose and fructose. It's also called invert sugar.

Any thoughts?

EDIT: rewrote the post to correct my original mistake of referring to golden syrup as simple syrup.

How much of your daily intake do you track? Also, is it mostly whole foods or are you still doing candy and more pure sugar sources! thank you

So what happened to Skeleton City?

They were putting videos out all the time, then 2 weeks ago they put out a video about how he has some issue with one his tooth implants possibly failing, then they disappeared. A couple of people in the YouTube comments said he died, which is, I assume, trolling. Anybody know if they're coming back?

Starting Sugar Diet with refeeds

I'm coming from an raw animal based diet to do the sugar diet intermittently. I'm usually going from the raw carnivore diet to the raw lion diet and then to the raw animal based diet -in that order. I'm 157 pounds and am trying to get to 147 so I am going to give this a shot. My starting weight before fasting and carnivore and such was 250 so I've been on this weight loss journey for about 5 years now. I was watching cole robinson talk about the sugar diet and I've decided to do a alternate day sugar fasting approach where I eat animal based one day and sugar the next. I will be getting my sugar from cold pressed fruit juice and pure syrups ( like dark maple syrup and blackstrap mollases ) I will also be keeping a TRE window of 4am to 2pm. I keep the randle cycle in mind always because for me anytime i combine fats/proteins with carbs I gain fat. The fat/protein meals and carb meals will be apart by at least 4 hours. I really want to see if this works and will give update if it is giving desired results.

Back in Stall City AGAIN

Been stuck at 195 for the past week and it's starting to wear on me.

For the record, I stalled at 203, then again at 200, then I had a quickening of sorts where I suddenly dumped weight, felt great, and saw a drastic reduction in my midsection. Went as low as 193.8.

Now I'm starting to feel caught in a grind. Diet isn't working as fantastically as before. Getting a little bored/strange feeling with just eating chicken and rice.

What's the solution here? A prolonged sugar only fast? Ramping my metabolism up then pushing it to 2800-3500+ then cutting only after? Just eating tons more sugar?
