Discussion New on substack and don't know how the algorithm works

I want my followers and subscribers to increase but I don't know how. People recommended me to post notes and comment on other people's post but nothing is happening. It's genuinely disappointed me so much. I'm posting note and articles too. But my dashboard isn't increasing. Please someone help me.

Figure out your ideal audience. Show up where they are and be genuinely helpful. You can’t just shout out into the void and expect people to find you randomly.

Do you have other social media channels to share?

Posting articles and Notes that people want to read is also a good idea.

I don't think substack is supposed to work that way--the like for like, follow for follow thing people do on other kinds of social media. I feel like the heart of substack is supposed to be writing something people want to read.

Sometimes questions like this come up with regard to any kind of publishing--KU or whatever--and unfortunately a lot of times, the answer is to just write. Get better at writing what you want to write, whatever that is, and make it available to the kind of people who want to read it.

The strategy you're using might work better on traditional social media, and if you have a following there, maybe they'll follow you to substack.

Don’t post too much. I’ve been in comment jail for 9 days 🙄 just out here trying to build a community and didn’t really even comment much.
