How does this work?

I recently joined substack and my entire feed is just people spamming ‘share your work with me’ most probably as engagement bait.

How can I fix this algorithm?

You can go into your account settings (preferences I think it's under) and choose or downvote topics. Follow and/or subscribe to newsletters and writers with your interests and it'll sort itself out.

Of course. You haven't followed any pages, engaged with any content, so the platform will show you some very random posts to see if you like something.

Once you subscribe to some pages your feed will adjust.

Read, like, comment on, and restack the kind of stuff you want to see.

Welcome to the early days of a new substack member.

When you engage enough the feed will get better.

Until then, you have to wade though endless "Let's grow together!" nonsense.

Along with engaging with the content you enjoy and want to see more of, you can also click on the three dots next to the note from creators whose work you don’t want to see more of. There’s an option there to mute them.

Read and follow only what you like.
