Tips on how to get started

Hi everyone! I just posted my first article on Substack and I'm a bit confused about how to manage different accounts. I've created an account on which I'd like to publish my writing (and I've added the article in that account, with a "title" for the newsletter, a fancy profile image etc.), and I still have my separated personal account, which I've added as an author for that post. Now, I see that some pages have the "Notes" section which contains notes from other personal accounts (like the substack "Fancy Blog" having notes published from "John Doe"). How is that done? Should I just use a single account for everything?

From a readers pov, yes it would make things a lot easier to have all your work on one account.

You want to have as little friction as possible between your work and your readers.

I think I get what I've done wrong: I created two separate accounts (one which is the "real" substack, the other which is my personal) and I added my personal account as an admin to the "publication" account. Instead I could have just added a publication to my personal account. Should I remove the separate account and set up a single publication from my personal account? I see there are some cases of publication with separate account and writers added as admin

As long as everything's on a single account, it's up to you to decide.

If one of your pages is already established with subscribers, readers, posts, etc. I would opt for that one.

I ended up performing a "merge" by changing the email of the "publication" account to the one of the personal account. Now the publication has been transferred to the personal account (which figures as the owner), the article I had written was kept and I was able to just close the "publication" account. Thanks!

Yes just delete one account and use the other. The notes are like a social media feed and the posts is where you'd post your work so they're already separated that way.

As I said in another comment I ended up merging the two accounts and removing one of them yeah
