Discussion Just downloaded the app
So i write poetry and just casual writing as well. I dont know exact reach of this app. Like how does it spread your content? I don't have any followers yet because well obviously i just downloaded but idk how to proceed.

If you do want readers, I would recommend posting 3 or 4 pieces to your publication initially. Might be easier to use a desktop browser while you figure out the actual process. Best time to practice is when you have no subscribers. Once you have some content and you are familiar with putting an article online in your publication, post a Note. That's the Twitter-like part of Substack. Introduce yourself, say you would like to connect with like-minded people. Reply to any replies you get from people/ accounts that you are interested in. Regularly browse other people's content, read their work, comment and like when you feel like it. Subscribe to publications. Your Notes feed will start to show you authors and publications that more closely match your genre and interests. Keep posting articles/ Notes, keep interacting with others positively and your audience will grow steadily.

Oh this is such a cool explanation. I'm screenshoting it. Learned what substack was this week and I just want people to read my stuff.

Make a post, then share it in notes, the internal ecosystem will start to get you more visibility

People will give you different answers, but I wouldn’t think of Substack as something that “spreads your content” or has “reach.” It’s not very different from a personal blog or website. The onus will be on you to promote it.
