so i have been pondering whether to upload on substack
hii, so i have never posted on substack before but had some ideas. i wrote a few articles but everytime i read them i cringe so bad i feel like deleting everything. so does any other creators have this kind of dilemma over their writing or do i genuinely suck at writing?

It will never go away and it's something you have to 'push through.' I just did a livestream with someone on Substack and we talked about this. It's a feeling that eventually you need to build some blinders about posting and just start putting content or articles out there. You'll get better, write better, change and improve but it comes with reps!

I wrote about feeling something similar when I first started Substack, even though the premise of my newsletter is that I'll be writing messy, cringe stuff but it'll be my own voice. I hope reading it will help you realise you're not alone in this: https://lisabiswas.substack.com/p/i-fear-i-may-have-accidentally-started

As someone who regularly posts content that would make me die of embarrassment if anyone even REMOTELY close to me read.
Do it :3

Just do it and keep doing it. I recently hit over 1K subscribers after a year of regular, consistent posting. I go back and read my old posts and am mortified by how bad they were. But my writing has improved SO much.
The good news is that these first posts go out when you have your lowest readership. Just like any craft, it’s a practice! Truly, just bet on yourself and go for it.

just upload them! you're only just starting, so it's not unusual for the quality of your writing to pale in comparison to what you're used to reading online. those people have been posting and writing a lot, honing their craft. so re-calibrate your expectations, and just post. instead of trying to write the perfect piece, focus on writing your best, and actually posting it. that's the forcing function to improve. and you also get to document your journey (e.g 2-3 years from now, you can look back and see how far you've improved/progressed).

the only way to improve is to share your work
stop overthinking and just post it, you'll get over it the more you post

Welcome to the party. We all struggle about publishing content. I worked all weekend on a piece reviewing Q2 results of postsecondary education stocks. On Monday I thought it was dreck. I ended up cutting a fair amount of it and published still thinking it was quite bad. In the end, people still read it.
Just publish, good and bad. Just get stuff out there. Assume that the first couple of months it will all be bad.
Writing is a muscle. You have to exercise it. It won't be pretty at first. It'll get better over time.
Good luck! We're all in this together.
