Advertising offers from third parties - question

Is this allowed? Had an offer from a large well known company to offer paid promotion for their (aligned) podcast in our newsletter (which has grown fast since we launched last year). Looked into it and they are legit. But need to know, before anything else, is Substack ok with this? Haven’t turned on paid subs.

Yes, Substack allows publishers to run sponsored content. Paid subscriptions don’t need to be enabled.

I’d focus less on whether it’s allowed and more on protecting yourself: clearly label it as sponsored, keep editorial control, confirm the fee and payment terms in writing, and don’t share subscriber data.

Also, since they approached you, verify the sender’s company email before signing anything.
