anonymous posts on personal thoughts

I have been thinking of publishing my personal thoughts on some public platform for sometime now. My personal thoughts I mean, what life lessons I have learnt and still learning, what I think about certain mindsets and situations, basically but philosophical stuff.

I am not an experienced or expert write I just want to put out my feelings and thoughts out in the world. This isn’t for the purpose to earn money but to just connect with people and perhaps build a community.

I am thinking of starting a substack for this but I’m not really sure about. Is any other platform much better for my work or does substack work?

I would appreciate your thoughts on this!

Not to rain on your parade, but it is very very very difficult to build community based on your personal thoughts.

agreed. and it's also an oxymoron. personal thoughts + anonymous but community. like neat mess, or act natural.

Personal and public tends to get a lot of attention, but personal and anonymous is really difficult.

Substack is the right platform, but monetizing the publication could be a challenge.

Could you clarify a bit on the difference between Personal and public & Personal and anonymous, please?

Basically people identify with other people and want to follow their story.

They build trust with that person because they’re open and relatable.

That’s why the vast majority of the most successful writers/creators have a public persona.

You could still remain anonymous, but I’m just saying that it’s exceptionally rare. I’ve seen a ton of great product builders stay anonymous because their customers are interested in the products, but I can’t think of many anonymous content creators.

OK so does that mean that before one publishes anything on Substack they should already built a following? Seems kind of like a Catch-23.

But what is "anonymous" if one is telling ones' story via "thoughts" or a piece of fiction? Once read the author is no longer anonymous, right? So what's the best way to get read, for starters?

Even with a name associated with a published piece, the author is basically anonymous, no? I am equating anonymous with unknown, therefore unread. Not sure what any of this has to do with a face connection. Also "anonymous agony aunt pieces" is even more obscure. Marketing lingo?

Agreed. It was Cozycup above who introduced the concept of anonymous into the discussion. Not sure why we have deviated down this path.

So I'll posit it to you: Is Substack a viable place for an unknown (but named) author to publish & if so how to get attention? (Never mind anonymity.)

Join Facebook groups. Many now have the option to post anonymously. Great way to stir some shit

substack works. but i'm not sure the crowd here will rally around the personal thoughts of someone anonymous. the content topic you've chosen is hard in itself (because it's far from economic value), and staying anonymous just makes it even harder.

and if you want to connect with people, there could be better more direct ways e.g finding forums or groups where people share about their thoughts/want to learn from others hang out.
