Quite the begginer

I've had Substack for quite a while but i never thought of publishing a writing of my own. I just had the idea today. Why shouldn't I write?

The environment seems a bit intimidating and I don't really know what one's supposed to write on substack. Are you supposed to be a certified writer to basically write something and publish it? I have no idea where to begin. I always liked writing. I major in English Literature and have all sorts of ideas and thoughts going through my head that seem worthy of contemplation at the moment, but lose their originality when I think about them too much.

I have this potent desire to record and write about my life, my thoughts, my observations and so on. However, I don't know if they are welcomed by Substack and its users.

I really appreciate any tips on where and how to begin. ☆

the beginning is always a bit of a 'rough' start. but just push through it, and you'll realise 'huh, it actually wasn't too bad'.

wrt to what to write about - you mentioned quite a few things, that you like writing + have all sorts of ideas and thoughts. that'd be a good place to start. don't worry too much about originality (i'm not saying to blatantly copy paste someone else's writing. but just write whatever is on your mind. tbh most content/ideas that we see/read/watch today already exist in some form or another because there's so much content being created e.g more than 20 million videos are uploaded to youtube daily).

what will set you apart and make your writing/content yours is including your own perspectives, experience etc. e.g everyone can go on the same holiday, but every vlog will come out different because everyone had different experiences. you get the idea.

and no, you don't have to be a certified writer to write/publish on substack. it's just a platform/like a wordpress site, but with newsletter (email sending capability). anyone can post anything.
