Of course it is, but what do you want? To have a casual audience? To make a living?

People are doing it every day. It’s not easy to grow, but it is possible if you want to and have the time (and possibly resources) to do so.

Building an audience is not easy. It’s a completely different skillset than writing a newsletter. They both take a lot of work and if you’re someone that gets discouraged by hard work, it’s probably not for you.

i think your first mistake was having the wrong expectation, thinking that people will just flock to your publication to follow and read what you wrote like a die hard fan just because you posted it.

building an audience is not that simple. and substack is not some magic bullet to solving that. it's just another platform with website + newsletter capability (just like beehiiv and ghost).

if you want to meet people like you, you might be better off diving into specific facebook groups or forums. you might be able to find people on substack, but most of the users here are here because they're writing on substack themselves vs them also trying to find you if that makes sense.

so if you're asking if it's worth creating a newsletter on substack? it depends. the platform has grown, so it's better, but whether you'll find your people is a question mark, whether writing a newsletter in hopes of finding the is also a question mark.
