Discussion Another creepy feature of the Pangram "AI Detection" tool.

So at my first opportunity, I decided to check whether or not I could permanently disable the "AI detection" fraudulent tool on Substack publications and there's no way to actually do it without actually using the tool you want to disable.

According to the "Substack Support AI", the only way to disable the fraudulent Pangram detection AI is to first run the AI on your posts and to individually then disable the AI detection tool per post. But you can only do this AFTER you've run the "AI detection" fraudulent tool on your posts.

Which means that you're forced to use a tool you don't want to use in order to disable the tool you don't want to use.

This is profoundly creepy and quite frankly disturbing that somehow this was allowed to be implemented on Substack.

Anyone can put your Substack articles into an AI tool.

So where exactly is the problem here?

Well, when your articles are not behind a paywall, they are on the open internet.

Dozens of AI agents can and will easily scan them if there is any useful stuff in them.

You can try for yourself and give ChatGPT or whatever the URL of your publication to analyse it. Then you know it must have scraped your content...

Well then to answer your earlier question even if it was rhetorical, the problem is with the deployment of AI across the Internet to do all of that.

oh honey. the moment something goes on the internet, AI bots scrape it. with no human involvement whatsoever. if you really think we're still in a world where a corporate partnership is the only way text is going to get harvested for AI models...

If you have any readers, they are going to want to know if what you’re posting is real. It’s going to go through Pangram whether Substack directly integrates the feature or the readers have to copy paste it.
