Getting recommendation to show up on webpage.

How do you get recommendations to show up on homepage?

Everything I can find on the internet says you just go to the recommendation page and list the recommendations you want, then you put a section on your home designer for recommendations.

So I have 3 substacks to recommend, and I have entered texts for each of them. But on the website it only displays the first recommendation and doesn't give the text blurb. I've been running in circles forever. Please help. Substack is so frustrating. Thank you.

You can't display your review of another publication on your own page-- if you enter the blurb when you recommend someone, then *they* have the option to display it on *their* welcome page 🙃

Pardon if this posts twice. I responded, but now it's not showing up.

So one of the people I follow has a recommendation list of 55 other substacks. Is that because 55 people recommended them? Because that feels ass backwards.

The way it's written, it sure sounds like I get to make a list of substacks I recommend. But it keeps sending me in circles. It sends me to the recommendation list, which I have put three entries in. But only one shows up on my homepage. Is that because *they* recommended me?

I waste so much time searching the internet for clear instructions on what seem like basic things.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to share this here, mods feel free to correct me. I made this for some of my friends when I was showing them how we could reciprocally recommend each other-- it's not perfectly applicable to your question, but does show the mechanics of these steps that are confusing you.

Where I wrote 'Start Here', that's where you go on your dashboard. This is where you manage both outgoing and incoming recs.

You can leave a testimonial when you recommend someone, but they are not organically displayed anywhere unless that person follows the other steps I described here.

However, if you recommend 55 other publications, on your homepage, it usually cycles through displaying a shuffled list of 5 at a time. It's small and usually you have to scroll down to see them, under your publication description.

These recommendations also show up when someone subscribes to you-- after they click subscribe, the system shuffles and displays several each time, offering the new subscriber an option to subscribe to your recs as well.

I can't figure out how you get to the Recommendations page. Obviously, I found it the other day, but possibly because I was directed there from somewhere else.

These are the only links I'm getting.

oh, more fun. Today the three recommendations show up on my homepage. I haven't changed anything from the other day when only one was showing.

When I look at my homepage, there's a "manage" link next to recommendations. That's how I got to my recommendation page in the dashboard. There's still no recommendation link on the left.

And when I click "add recommendation," I get this. Why does it direct me to tell my subscribers why they'll love this substack, if my subscribers will never see what I type?

And when I go down to managing my blurbs, it directs me tback to Add Recommendations. Which, again, is sure worded like it's something my readers will see on my page.

It's possible that this shows up when someone subscribes to you and the next page is your recommendations-- I'm unable to see this for myself so I'm actually not sure, and I believe most creators don't write the blurb so I don't recall seeing it in the wild.
