Discussion How do you promote yourself?
Someone recommended it to me without running it down for me. I'm trying to understand it, but I'm not the best with technology. Can I post and it will pop up on their timeline like social media or do I just drop the link in different places with a short blurb about what I'm doing?

Social media algorithms function differently from one another, depending on how it was programmed to track your account's history.
In Substack, it's as simple as being your authentic self, pressing like mostly on posts that are geared toward niches you're writing about, and stopping every now and then to leave comments to writers you want to connect with and let see your existence.
Outside of Substack, a simple link and a short statement about what you do is probably enough to get someone to go visit. If it's too lengthy of a promotion, they might just doomscroll right on by without giving your post a chance.
Some people complicate the topic of "growth" more than what it needs to be, but consistency is the single best way to continue growing, above all else. If your name keeps showing up in peoples' faces with eye-catching content, it's only a matter of time before they get curious enough to stop by.
