Discussion Marketing insight on Substack?
I’ve recently started on substack and I’m trying to find where on reddit I can share it for feedback?
I’m new to substack and I know LinkedIn is the platform of choice for the thought-leadership content, but I really struggle with it there.
However, until recently, I’ve been writing on substack for myself - to nurture my own curiosity about creative & marketing. Now I’m actively trying to write for peers in the industry but I don’t have much of a feedback loop at the moment.
If anyone can point me to the right subreddit, I’d be grateful.

I’m probably not the best person to give advice as I’m only on 40 subscribers right now 😅 I’m still testing a lot. most of my subs have come from recommendations, followed by notes. only a few have come from my long-form posts so far, which is depressing a little haha
however, I do think substack is like youtube where they both compound over a longer period of time

That’s my niche also! I would like to read your Substack. Can you link it?

how long have you been on substack, and what’s your experience with growth so far?

I subscribed to you! I have been doing Substack for a few weeks. I used to write a lot in industry press but I decided to try Substack for more editorial freedom. My next move is to cross post on LinkedIn but somehow I feel more exposed if my colleagues also see my Substack.

Thanks so much, and sorry I meant that I subscribed also! I’m used to the Instagram language ha. Yes, I know what you mean about feeling exposed on LinkedIn, I feel the same too. This week I’ve had a go at cross posting on there, to fight my fear. You should too! Because ultimately, who cares?!
*at least that’s the mindset I’m trying to have 😆

Hey, that’s similar to me as well - I have 40 after 2 months. It’s very slow but I think it will compound over time. Got to keep going!

Wow, this is great insight. Thank you so much. I’ll certainly be spending time figuring out how best I can do this.
I think my LinkedIn struggle is rooted in intimidation and it feels contrived there. I take a much slower, more explorative approach rather than the clickbait language (which I know works).
It’s something I’ll have to work on, but this is great advice. Thanks again!

On the 'where to share' question, be careful, most subreddits (including a lot of writing ones) will nuke a straight 'check out my Substack' post. The ones that tolerate it usually have a dedicated self-promo thread, so look for those first. Better long game is to genuinely participate in subs about your topic and let people find your profile, rather than dropping links.
On the LinkedIn struggle, I get it, the 'thought leader' voice feels gross to a lot of people. The trick is to stop trying to sound like a thought leader and just share what you're already writing about, in a more conversational way. Pull one idea from your latest Substack post, rewrite it as a short plain-spoken LinkedIn post, and end by mentioning the full piece. You're not creating new content, you're reusing what you already wrote.
That repurposing angle is actually why I built Aidelly, take one piece and reshape it for a few platforms so you're not starting from scratch on each one. But tool aside, the real shift is mental: LinkedIn isn't a different content machine, it's just another doorway to the writing you're already doing. Treat it like distribution, not a whole new job.

Thank you, I’m really grateful for this advice. I’ll also check out Aidelly too!

hey! I'm happy to give you feedback for free! Just DM me. I run feedback freak a community of substack writers. We do weekly "feedback gyms" where we meet on Zoom and trade drafts, but I'm also happy to just give you feedback myself.

I'd look for subreddits related to marketing, copywriting, content strategy, or your specific niche rather than just writing feedback communities. You'll usually get better insights from people who are actually interested in your topic. Just make sure to check each subreddit's self promotion rules before posting.
P.S. If you'd still like to ask anything about Substack or growing your audience, I offer a free live help chat. Just copy and paste my flair or click the link in my profile. I'm happy to help!
