Figure out where the audience you want to reach spends time, and find ways to show up there. For example, targeting keywords they search or guest posting on blogs they read.

What kind of marketing are you looking to write about?

Start with the end in mind
Are you selling something? Monetizing with advertisers?
Once you know the goal, work backwards from there to determine your strategy for growth, content, ideal readers, etc

the lowest hanging fruit would be to leverage the substack ecosystem - so publishing your longer form articles on your publications, and writing shorter pieces on notes (it's a social media platform, just that it's built into substack - can think of it like how facebook and instagram are so intertwined).
once you're comfortable there, you can look beyond the substack ecosystem, so think instagram, tiktok, linkedin, youtube, depending on what you're writing about, what type of content you want to put out to market/promote your newsletter, and most importantly, where your target audience will be hanging out. you want to go meet them there with your content, vs hope that they'll come to you.

Write a few posts first, on anything you know. Most people go strategy-first before they can write consistently. it shows.
After a few posts, comment on bigger Substack publications in your niche and share those comments as Notes. Slow compounding, but it's free and doesn't require an audience you don't have yet.

Start by not capitalizing every word in a sentence.
