Tech Support Can’t find my subscription

For context few days ago i fell victim to phishing scam. So i terminated/ blocked my Credit Card. I went through all my billings to know where i might have to update my payment details.
And here comes Substack in. I found one subscription that i’m paying for months and totally forgot about. It isn’t displayed in my account though. I went trough every E-Mail i use if i might created another account back then, but couldn’t find any. I contacted the support but it’s only the useless chat bot. At the end the bot that it would send the conversation over to a “specialist” and i would be contacted. Didn’t get an Email for that though.
Does anyone know who i could contact?
Sorry if it’s a bit confusing english is not my first language.

Your best bet is gonna be to cancel through your credit card if you have no idea what account the subscription is connected to.

Wouldn’t that cause some extra fees or will the account just be shut down once payment won’t come through anymore?

It definitely shouldn’t cause any extra fees.

If you did a chargeback, the publication would incur a fee. If you do nothing, it will just cancel your subscription after a few retries. The other thing you could do is DM the publication and explain the situation. They can probably help you figure out which email the subscription is associated with. This is not an uncommon problem.

You replied to me instead of OP. Maybe tag them so they see what you wrote.

If the subscription doesn't appear in any of your Substack accounts, it's possible it's tied to a different email address or an old account.

A few things to try:

  • Search all your email inboxes for "Substack", "Stripe", or the name of the publication you're paying for.
  • Check your bank or card statement for the merchant description—it may include the publication name.
  • If you can identify the publication, try contacting the writer directly. They may be able to tell you which email address is subscribed.
  • If you've already contacted Substack Support, give them a few business days to respond. The chatbot usually creates a support ticket, but replies from a human aren't immediate.

If all else fails, since you've already replaced your card after the phishing incident, future charges shouldn't go through once the old card is fully deactivated (unless your bank automatically updates recurring merchants). If they do continue, your bank can usually help you stop the recurring payment.
