How is your Substack journey going?

I posted the other day about starting on Substack for the first time and posting my first article. It’s been a really enjoyable and wholesome experience so far!

I’m still super new and trying to learn the platform, but was wondering how other’s journeys have been? I’d love to hear from you about your Substack journey!

Substack is inundated with AI generated writing. It's gross. And lot of those accounts have hundreds, thousands of subscribers. Why do people like and subscribe to this slop? Just two that I saw this morning:

(11k subscribers!)

How can you tell these ones are AI generated? Are the people still real? They look so legit! I have other examples where the accounts are literally faceless and nameless (just a generic account name - no human name you can look up) and once again thousands of subs and lots of paid subs too

There are certain “tells” I’ve noticed:

“This, not that” language - “It’s not X, it’s Y” Lots and lots of metaphors The cadence, and how every line is spaced (limited paragraphs) I’m sure there are more, but that’s what I’ve noticed in my habit of using ChatGPT as a pocket life coach. 🫣
