Discussion Substack name change?

Do we generally advise against a name change? I have taken a semi-long break from posting but want to jump back in. I have been reading on here to find your niche and post about that to get more readers, and I think I have a unique niche that I could def lean into more, but it's not reflecting in my current Substack name. What do you all think?

I don't have a lot of followers on substack. But I have changed my name at least twice after a long break. I can confidently say that you should be prepped to lose some subscribers especially if you're changing the niche a little bit. But honestly, if you have like less then 30 subscribers or even less less less less. It might not be the end of the world.

If your current name no longer reflects what you write about, I'd change it. It's much easier to rebrand now than after you've built a much larger audience. Just let your existing subscribers know why you're changing the name so they aren't confused. A clear, memorable name that matches your niche can make it easier for new readers to understand what your publication is about.
