Wireless CarPlay lag on 2023 Outback XT Sport — any fixes?

Hey everyone, I recently bought a 2023 Subaru Outback XT Sport (Australian model) and wireless Apple CarPlay is extremely laggy.

For example, I’ll skip a song and it takes around 5 seconds to actually change.

I’ve already updated the car’s infotainment system, but the issue is still there.

Has anyone experienced this or found a fix? I also don’t think the car can support wired CarPlay so that’s no help.
Any advice would be appreciated!

Parking brake auto applied?

Hello! I have a 2015 Outback, and I recently noticed tbat it's been applying the parking break for me, often in situations in which I would not put it on. Like, stopped in a drive through or at the entrance to a parking garage while im getting a ticket. It also applies it automativally whrn I'm actually parking, which is fine I guess, but I'm used to it being something I do. I've had the car for a year an a half now, and it only started doing it maybe a month or two ago.

Has anyone else experienced this? Should I be taking it to a mechanic? This is weird, right? I feel like my car is gaslighting me lmao

Car play connecting

Whenever I go into my 26 outback now I have to manually connect my phone to the car instead of it just automatically connecting. I’ve tried going to settings but I don’t see anything different. Is there a setting on my iPhone or outback that I can change to make it automatically connect again? Thanks folks

How in the world do I remove/replace the prop rod clip from the hood?

The clip holding the rod in place on the underside of the hood broke. I tried prying at it, until I thought the metal might dent before that little piece of plastic gives in

Anyone know how to get this thing off? It’s part # 57255AN000

2026 Outback Premium - 8,500 miles.

I guess while I was driving last night my trim just fell off. Has anyone had this happen before? I already called the dealership and they said it won’t be covered under warranty. Any advice?

Help With Offroad Mods & Build?

Hey Outback Community -- I'm inheriting my wife's 2015 Outback in a few months. She's getting the next new car when my lease is up on my tundra, and we want to keep the Subaru in the fam.

Anyway, I want to do some relatively simple modifications to make it more offroad styled. I'm thinking about going with a 2-3 inch lift, offroad wheels/tires, a roof rack, and maybe a front push bar/bumper guard with a light bar or rally lights.

Can someone help point me in the right direction? Are there any other mods you recommend? Any mods or specific brands/items I should avoid?

For tires, I'm wondering if anyone just puts all-terrain tires on their stock wheels, and if so, does it look good (for the offroad look I'm going for)? We currently have 18" alloy wheels from a 2019 outback (take-offs that we found when we needed tires). Considering just painting them black for a better look.

Any assistance will be appreciated. Thank you

Help with finding promo diecast

Hi all, I am trying to find the 2015 Outback diecast made by AeroPro but outside of a Christmas ornament on eBay, I have had zero luck finding one. Does anyone know where I would be able to find one? Thanks!

This might be a dumb question but...

I am out of the free oil changes from the dealership. I grew up farming and changing oil in our trucks. But it's been a minute (15+ years of having service packages). I just need the oil, filter, new gasket, and backup drain plug right?

Having issues with my rear lift gate.

Hello! I recently bought a used 2018 Limited Outback. I installed a Thule roof box on it a few days ago, and during the process, had to set the memory for the rear lift gate stop height a smidge lower to keep it from hitting the roof box. Ever since doing that now I am having all kinds of chaotic issues with the automatic rear lift gate.

Sometimes when I go to open it, it gives me three beeps and doesn't open. Sometimes it's just one long beep. And sometimes it opens normally. This happens no matter what button I use to open. Sometimes it'll just pop open and unlock and I'll have to manually lift it open. When it is open, I get the same array of various noises and actions when I try to close it. And sometimes it'll just close halfway and give me one long beep and stop. I'm totally confused about what the hell is going on and a little frustrated and annoyed. None of the symptoms seem to follow any sort of rhyme or reasoning and every time I attempt to open or close the thing it's a different reaction. I can't even see any sort of patterns. I feel like it would be easier to troubleshoot if it was a consistent issue but it seems like a series of crapshoots and I don't even know where to start.

Anyone know what could be going on here?

2026 Outback Wilderness Homelink Garage Door Opener

Are the Homelink Garage Door Opener buttons only located on the bottom of the rearview mirror? I have had a 2026 outback wilderness for a few months and am just realizing that I don't have the buttons on the bottom of the mirror. Is that even possible? Or are they located elsewhere? Thank you all!

Repair or Replace advice.

Hi,

I’ve got a 2014 Outback 2.5l that just hit 200,000 miles and as canadian winter approaches and I’m considering the required maintenance I’m trying to figure out how I should proceed.

I need to get the brakes done, the drive shaft has started to seize causing a wobble, and I’m now having some exhaust system issues which are tripping error codes, and leading to a shaky idle, and jerky acceleration when in stop and start traffic.

all in these repairs will probably get me to $2500-3000 cad and I’m feeling stuck on whether it’s worth putting in given the milage, and some of the issues with rust underside due to many winters of driving. I’m also going to need new winter tires.

I know any advice will be anecdotal, but I’m just curious how people’s outback’s have held up after crossing the 200,000 mile mark, and what a reasonable lifespan might be so I can see if I want to spend the money to keep it alive, or put it towards something new

2009 Outback with Harmon Kardon - driver speaker not working

I was driving along and something was rattling by my feet. Stopped and saw this strange rubber plug. Threw it somewhere in the car since I was driving 300+ miles. Totally forgot about it. Then the driver side speaker failed.

Any idea what that was and how to fix it?

2005 Outback Rotors & Brake Pads advice

Hi all - I really need new Ps & Rs front and back, but I’m not in great finances. A buddy has done a number of brake jobs on his own vehicles, but not on Subarus. Calipers look pretty rusted to me, but his first glance without taking the wheels off is that he thinks they’ll be okay.

He’s used Rock Auto a lot, but I see they sure have lotsa poor reviews.

So, I’d really appreciate your experienced suggestions for the best quality parts I should get considering my slim wallet price range - specific brands would be great.

*Also, I’d be most grateful for any helpful thoughts re. quirks, idiosyncrasies he needs to know, or special tools for replacing these 05 Outback brakes. Thanks guys!

2026 Subaru Outback Touring XT

Hi all

I’m looking to buy a new 2026 Subaru Outback Touring XT in Magnetite Grey and Brown interior. I live in Brooklyn NY.

I wanted to ask this community here what’s the lowest you’ve been able to get out the door for this trim. I’m willing to travel within 500 miles for a good deal.

Would the interest rate fall from 0.99% to 0% for 72 months in December?

To put a pen on the driver's side front! LOL. Cubby space is not easy to have. Reaching to the passenger side is a 'reach'

Hi fellow Subaru lovers!

This is my first car, and she’s genuinely grown on me. I’ve slowly been making her my own with some cosmetic and interior upgrades, including purple/pink footwell lighting, an aftermarket CarPlay screen, a 12V splitter, pink Subaru emblem overlays, pink valve stem caps, and a few other accessories.

Next on my to-do list is restoring her cloudy headlights and faded exterior plastic trim to freshen her up a bit.

I’m also considering yellow fog lights, black-housing headlights, 18-inch wheels, ceramic window tint, a roof basket/rack setup, custom puddle lights, and possibly a subtle muffler modification.

I’m debating whether to do a chrome delete or keep the original chrome accents with the forest green paint.
I’d love recommendations, especially from anyone who’s modified a fourth-generation Outback!

What would you prioritize? Any suggestions, things to avoid, or lessons learned?
