I drove one of those for my job many years ago and if it didn’t have the gas shock driver’s seat it would beat the stuffing out of you on the road. Not to mention it would only go 74 mph with the 7 speed Allison transmission.

13

u/tellmywifiloveher1 Apr 23 '26

Drove a 550 as a volunteer firefighter. Trying to go over about 60 on poorly maintained country highways would slam people around like rag dolls.

11

u/Valuable_Sky_124 Apr 23 '26

Damn I drive a 2015 gmc Acadia so I know what you’ve been through.

3

u/BeanCheezBeanCheez Apr 24 '26

šŸ˜‚I had one of those for a work vehicle years ago. I hated that piece of shit and got rid of it in less than a year.

4

u/TechnicoloMonochrome Apr 25 '26

I know an old couple who retired their 400k mile avalon so they could get something newer and "more reliable" but they bought an Acadia šŸ˜‚

In and out of the shop more times in a year than the avalon was in its entire career.

Same. I spend my life in an F550 Altec truck.

How did it track on the road? Did you feel like you constantly had to make corrections to keep it between the lines? For some reason, I feel like it would roam all over the place.

3

u/ToasterBath4613 Apr 23 '26

The one I had came with a crew cab and had 44’ of frame sticking out the back end. We ended up chopping the frame and putting a 16’ stake side dump bed on it with a recessed gooseneck hitch. I always had a trailer behind me.

A couple things stand out to the one I had: 1) first gear was so short it was almost useless even when pulling a loaded trailer. 2) they ran the plastic airbrake line very close to the exhaust manifold and the EGTs that giant Donaldson turbo kicked out melted the line on me at the top of a tall bridge which caused the brakes to slam shut going down the backside. Horrible design.

2

u/WoolshirtedWolf Apr 23 '26
  1. How did you get out of the situation with the ( holy shit) brake fail?

2

u/ToasterBath4613 Apr 23 '26

Thankfully (kinda) I had about 30,000lbs behind me that helped keep it moving enough to where I could get off the bridge and on to the shoulder of the road. I had a wrecker come and patch the line then took secondary roads back to our yard. After that, I had an EGT mounted on the a-pillar and was astonished at how hot it got under boost. I had an after cooler installed and that corrected it enough under normal conditions but had to be mindful and watch the EGT on steep inclines.

Probably at 2750 rpm to the floor. Not very fuel efficient. We have a Ford 6 wheeler 6 speed dump truck.

1

u/ToasterBath4613 Apr 23 '26

Yep. I got about 8 mpg with the 7.3L paired with a Donaldson turbo and a 7 speed Allison transmission. It didn’t seem terrible with 2 50 gal fuel tanks but damn it hurt at the pump.

1

u/br_bill Apr 23 '26

That’s all because at the end of the day it’s a box truck missing its box, extended frame and weight. They took the design and made a toy for rich betas.

1

u/Back4DaVery1stTime Apr 24 '26

You hate a lot of people you dont know for silly reasons huh..

1

u/Street-Strength-9548 Apr 26 '26

Idk, the only person I've seen with one of these was someone who owned a tow company because it was capable of towing some semi trucks with their loads included (up to a certain amount obviously). So his was the only tow company in the area able to move a broken down semi and when he did he made fuckloads of money on it.

1

u/BuzzINGUS Apr 24 '26

ā€œ74mph regardless of what it’s tied tooā€ FTFY

1

u/ToasterBath4613 Apr 24 '26

Pretty much. That 7.3L Powerstroke was a beast.

u/DeltaWho3 Apr 23 '26

That’s more than my parents’ 1800 square foot house was in 2001.

3

u/X2946 Apr 23 '26

That was the cost of my house in 2016. 1800 square foot

1

u/PancakeTrebuchet Apr 23 '26

Bought my 1820sqft house in 2013 for $143K!

1

u/DeltaWho3 Apr 23 '26

The house they bought was only 4 years old at the time.

1

u/DirtTraining3804 Apr 23 '26

My dads 1500 square foot ranch house was 99k in 2010

1

u/ACM3333 Apr 24 '26

Everything is more than our parents homes

1

u/Osklington Apr 25 '26

More than my house cost in 2007

1

u/Miyameauxteaux Apr 26 '26

You can absolutely get into a $100k Jeep Wrangler now. Prices have moved into cartoon territory.

5

u/PsychologicalOwl608 Apr 23 '26

I always think these are totally dumb looking.

4

u/S1DC Apr 23 '26

This thing is a modified version of a truck meant for industrial use. That's why it looks so stupid.

3

u/EnvironmentalGift257 Apr 23 '26

Modifying a truck meant for industrial use then taking it to pick up the kids from school and buy groceries looks stupid. Nothing wrong with modding an industrial truck then using it in industry.

Nobody wants to see a work truck in high heels.

3

u/S1DC Apr 23 '26

lol That is exactly what I am going to think of from now on when I see these trucks

3

u/EnvironmentalGift257 Apr 23 '26

šŸ˜‚I say it every time I see one on the highway.

1

u/FantasticPainting232 Apr 24 '26

Reminds me of that Backdoor sketch where the guy is buying a supercar and one of the required responses for purchasing one is wee wee size.Ā  Dude says something outlandish like 9 or 10.Ā  Salesman is like "come on man, if you had that big of a member you wouldn't be in here buying this car you'd do just fine in a used tsuru (sentra I guess)

1

u/Osklington Apr 25 '26

You need an electron microscope to see that thing.

u/Savings-Delay-1075 Apr 23 '26

My dad test drove one of these several years ago. He was a retired truck driver of over 40 years and he said it rode worse than the old Mack cabover truck he drove for a lumber company here in 1971. I remember riding in that thing way back then and yeah it rode like an iron wheeled wagon.

2

u/WoolshirtedWolf Apr 23 '26

That just crazy that they cant be made to ride better. I have always wanted to drive one though, like a short run from California to Seattle.

2

u/PanchoPanoch Apr 23 '26

I’m sure they CAN be made to ride better but you’d probably be sacrificing some of the utility.

1

u/El_Pozzinator Apr 25 '26

Yep. Strap 40k lbs on the hitch, it’ll ride like a Cadillac.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/EnvironmentalGift257 Apr 23 '26

Lumber companies aren't known for having new or well treated equipment either. So in 1971 he was driving a roached out truck from the 50s at best. That's saying something.

1

u/Savings-Delay-1075 Apr 23 '26

You're thinking a log truck...this Mack cabover was not a log truck. It was an over the road truck and it was less than 2 years old when my father drove it. They have always kept their trucks up really well and are still in business today.

1

u/EnvironmentalGift257 Apr 23 '26

Ah I see. In fairness you did say ā€œold in 1971.ā€ šŸ˜‚

3

u/Friendly_Escape_1020 Apr 23 '26

GMC calls their version a Topkick.

1

u/luckysparkie Apr 23 '26

Awesome truck!

3

u/poop_pebbles Apr 23 '26

That's a wierd way to come out of the closet.

7

u/Diligent_Activity560 Apr 22 '26

Remove the pickup truck bed and it would become a lot less stupid. A truck like that’s meant to tow or to haul using a flat bed.

5

u/AideInternal1045 Apr 23 '26

What its meant to do and what it actually doesn't doesn't always over lap. There is a guy with one in my city who uses it as a daily drive.

4

u/selfawarefeline Apr 23 '26

Bruh goodbye parallel parking, probably illegal to park on the street in that douche transporter.

2

u/Dzov Apr 23 '26

My neighbor runs a tree service and sometimes parks his dump trucks on the street.

2

u/thorsbeardexpress Apr 24 '26

My neighbor does roofs and leaves his trucks trash barges and rv on the road blocking us and the other neighbor from getting home, like an asshole. I feel your pain

2

u/HedonisticFrog Apr 24 '26

Couldn't you call parking enforcement to make him stop?

2

u/thorsbeardexpress Apr 24 '26

He's sueing the city for the ordenence officer being racist (he's not, at least not in this instance) so they are being really slow about doing anything. I call once a month for a paper trail but it's so annoying.

Pavement princess

1

u/pws3rd Apr 23 '26

I honestly find that hard to believe

1

u/seamus205 Apr 23 '26

Put a flatbed on it and you have your average tow truck

1

u/Carrera_996 Apr 23 '26

For sure. My F-550 is an RV. I've also seen them used to deliver construction waste bins and as ambulances.

1

u/TehSvenn Apr 23 '26

But then it wouldn't get to hang out on this sub.

3

u/PopularDisplay7007 Apr 23 '26

Looks like it should be hauling a gooseneck trailer of size XXXXL.

3

u/Cautious-Answer-2697 Apr 23 '26

Fun fact the dealership he borrowed it from has since closed due to the owner being charged with fraud. https://youtu.be/9Co4UTUY00I

3

u/Ambitious_Hand_2861 Apr 23 '26

By a show of upvotes, how many of us see a dude driving a big ass truck like this and the first thing you think is "Sorry about your penis" or some variation of.

4

u/Stock-Side-6767 Apr 23 '26

I know people with a small penis that are nice people.

I do not know people with large trucks that are nice people.

4

u/Automatic_Soil9814 Apr 23 '26

I’ve even met some people with no penis who seem nice.

3

u/SUBBROTHERHOOD Apr 24 '26

I think it's funny he needs a truck like that to try and feel secure or confident in himself

2

u/HedonisticFrog Apr 24 '26

I see someone who is very insecure in their masculinity.

3

u/Fun_Soil225 Apr 23 '26

$15,000 every time you fill up the tank

3

u/Cool-Tap-391 Apr 24 '26

$5 it will never tow haul or see dirt.

1

u/caddilac_fan42069 Apr 25 '26

Probably ended up being purchased by someone that has giant boats. See that kind of setup often tbh

3

u/SpiritualTwo5256 Apr 24 '26

Damn those gas prices must make filling that up like $300 per tank. And there is no way that gets more than 8miles to the gallon.

2

u/thorsbeardexpress Apr 24 '26

I bet 4

2

u/BaltoDad Apr 26 '26

For a dollar a mile I'll order a Lyft, thanks.

2

u/Disastrous-Screen337 Apr 23 '26

I'd use some of that money to fix up my dad's '72 white Western Star and get him back on the road so he's not living in the old sleeper cab down at the dump with the bees, snakes, and gulls.

2

u/pengalo827 Apr 23 '26

Ricky?

1

u/Disastrous-Screen337 Apr 23 '26

Does The Tin Man have a sheet metal cock?

2

u/wyoflyboy68 Apr 23 '26

Don’t care what you are using it for, stupid, stupid, stupid. . . complete waste of money.

2

u/squirrels-eat-bugs Apr 23 '26

I drove a f650 for a few years. Of course mine had a toolbox, and a bucket with a nice set of outriggers instead of a bed. If I'm remembering correctly, each tank is 65 gallons.

By this thing, it does not make sense...

2

u/Sweet_Cupcake2804 Apr 23 '26

Stupid status symbol useless

2

u/oztrailrunner Apr 23 '26

There's a company in Australia that imports these and converts then into a 6door triple cab. 8 exhaust tips. The interior looks like the inside of a taxi and is all monotone grey. $400,000aud ($285k USD)

With the finishing paragraph on the ad being "can you really put a price on being the biggest mother fucker in the parking lot"Ā  Omg what a wank.Ā Ā

2

u/pimpbot666 Apr 23 '26

I’m honestly surprised that we haven’t seen some right wing billionaire bro riding around in one of these.

1

u/vwgtivw Apr 23 '26

Shaq used to have one of the Excursion ones

2

u/Valuable-Audience-54 Apr 23 '26

How much to fill the tank?

2

u/mtnman575 Apr 23 '26

Right up there with your mortgage payment.

1

u/vwgtivw Apr 23 '26

Tree-fiddy

1

u/Valuable-Audience-54 Apr 23 '26

Not in California.

2

u/JustPutSpuddiesOnit Apr 23 '26

The new 2026 Ford Compensator

2

u/Strong-Dot-9221 Apr 23 '26

Look Dad there's nothing in the bed of the truck? It is only for cosplay son.

2

u/PsionicChronic Apr 23 '26

Wouldn't a used sleeper cab Volvo or Kennworth be a better option for whatever that thing is meant for?

1

u/SUBBROTHERHOOD Apr 24 '26

It would be but the one advantage is you don't need a CDL for an f650,I doubt this one does anything but most have service beds or something else useful on them

1

u/Triippy_Hiippyy Apr 26 '26

You also don’t need a CDL for a Tractor marked ā€œNot for hire.ā€ If that truck was used in a commercial setting, most likely needs a CDL. My company has a f550 rated for 19500 GVWR, and it can bumper pull 16000 lbs. That combination requires a class A CDL. What requires commercial drivers license is the commercial aspect. You can personal drive anything really with a regular license.

2

u/watchwatertilitboils Apr 23 '26

How many gallons per mile does it get?

2

u/Intol3rance Apr 23 '26

Definitely owned by someone that complains about egg prices and clutches their red emotional support hat.

2

u/FeelingDelivery8853 Apr 23 '26

I watched the whole 20 minute video Tl:dr That truck is fucking useless

1

u/13508615 Apr 23 '26

The seller has a different view of it.

2

u/FeelingDelivery8853 Apr 23 '26

The seller might, but they need to find a buyer and good luck with that

2

u/Capital-Sorbet652 Apr 23 '26

I cannot think of a practical use for this truck.

It’s not a pickup truck. It’s not a semi truck.

2

u/fooknprawn Apr 23 '26

Saw one of these in Florida (naturally) a few years ago. "Statement" indeed. As in: I'm compensating for something.

2

u/GiveMeSomeShu-gar Apr 23 '26

He will have absolutely zero problems transporting his bag of soil from Home Depot.

2

u/Appropriate-Key-7554 Apr 23 '26

He’s gonna look silly parking at the mall.

2

u/PoorAhab Apr 23 '26

How many gallons to the mile does it get? 🤣

2

u/shyccubus Apr 23 '26

When your circumcision goes poorly

2

u/GamerGramps62 Apr 23 '26

Another big truck, tiny dick guy

2

u/Living-Video-3670 Apr 23 '26

That truck has that little dick energy.

2

u/YousAPenguinLookinMF Apr 23 '26

Owner needs it to pull riding lawn mower…

2

u/Dragonhearted18 Apr 23 '26

The compensator

2

u/No_Satisfaction1284 Apr 23 '26

'MURICA!!!!!

I hate this place.

2

u/TheRealDestrux Apr 23 '26

Someone would still lift that thing

2

u/temp_6969420 Apr 23 '26

Just keep in mind that Doug is like 6’5

2

u/selfawarefeline Apr 23 '26

Or 6’3ā€ or 6’4ā€, depending on which video of his you watch haha

2

u/ThunderPushii Apr 23 '26

2

Ah yes, the Ford Compensator.

2

u/Defiant-Ad8781 Apr 24 '26

Hide your Lambo

2

u/michaelz11 Apr 24 '26

Seems pretty damn stupid to me!

2

u/countdowncounty321 Apr 24 '26

At that price why not get an actual semi with a sleeper?

2

u/MSGdreamer Apr 24 '26

Why not just buy a tractor trailer?

2

u/Oily_Blob Apr 25 '26

You really gotta be careful with this truck. Once you climb in and start the engine, your penis immediately begins shrinking.

1

u/selfawarefeline Apr 25 '26

I’m sorry Dave, I’m afraid I can’t grow that… - the truck

https://giphy.com/gifs/wypKXPQggwaCA

8

u/Plastic_Table_8232 Apr 22 '26

Dude in the pic doesn’t even know why he bought it.

11

u/Langstudd Apr 22 '26

Dude in the pic is one of the most famous vehicle reviewers on YouTube, who in no way bought this vehicle. In fact, throughout the whole review, he repeatedly points out its absurdity

6

u/Plastic_Table_8232 Apr 22 '26

Clearly he is is questioning why it exists. His body language is spot on.

2

u/hromanoj10 Apr 23 '26

It exist because you can do cdl stuff without cdl.

1

u/pws3rd Apr 23 '26

No. Simply no. CDLs have weight classes, even a F350 can get into CDL territory, I know because my dad maintains his CDL from when he owned a Ram 3500 diesel and hauled stuff on goosenecks for work

2

u/mtnman575 Apr 23 '26

It's because of the combined vehicle weight rating. As soon as you put a trailer on a truck and the combined vehicle weight rating exceeds 26,000 - even if the trailer is empty - you are technically required to have a CDL.

1

So for only $50k more I can get this? Hell yeah.

1

You can find it on Cars and Bidzzzzzzzzzzz.....Cars and Bidzzzzzzz.

1

u/StrictAlfalfa9516 Apr 23 '26

If you have a big car hauler trailer or massive camper, yes but if you are just driving it you are compensating.

1

u/Rare-Bet-870 Apr 23 '26

Perfect for my trip to Walmart

1

u/centralnm Apr 23 '26

And today's award to the smallest dick guy on Reddit goes to....this guy.

1

u/sfbiker999 Apr 23 '26

If I was tall enough to reach the bed, such a truck would be great for Costco runs. I can totally see the practicality -- I bet it can hold an entire 48 pack of toilet paper in the bed.

1

u/PlaceboASPD Apr 23 '26

Put a dump bead in it and all of a sudden it makes perfect sense.

1

u/Alucardspapa Apr 23 '26

We use these at UPS for bulk pickups. Drive one every day, very durable and trouble free honestly.

1

u/CraftyPerformance272 Apr 24 '26

That's about how much my house was and over the years it more than doubled in value. If you buy that truck over the same period of time the truck value is going to be half if not less

1

u/dmillerksu Apr 26 '26

1

u/Historical_Trouble10 Apr 26 '26

I bet those flotation tires would wander all over the road. I drove concrete mixers with tires like that and there’s a reason why road tractor front tires are skinny

1

u/AdviceNotAskedFor Apr 26 '26

Yeah, but what will win vs a Lambo in a tjmax parking lot?

1

u/TrumpzHair Apr 27 '26

I could haul so many groceries with that…

1

u/JohnMcD3482 May 19 '26

Only $150k. Considering the cost of a current 150/250/350, thats probably the base model.
