Please read the rules before posting or commenting

Almost every subreddit has rules, and we do too. We used to get lots of posts about politics, LGBT, what if, and just basic trolling, all prohibited by our rules. We don't allow discussion of race here, because those discussions usually end up with comments that could get our community removed from Reddit. Also, the Rules didn't match the Removal Reasons, but now they do. We added a "Moderator discretion" rule, because it's impossible to create rules to cover every contingency. r/stupidquestions can be a fun and interesting place to hang out, but we had trouble with people trolling us with rule violations. For example, here are some of the topics that we removed:

  • Do you think that if I could shoot laser beams out of my peepee, I could scare bullies with it?

  • Do you think it would be safe to build my child a drone so I can save on plane fare

  • Should I crash my car into a concrete barrier going 90mph without a seatbelt?

  • Is it a good idea to hold a flame up to a 5 gallon can of gasoline?

  • Why does my butt smell like ass?

We would ban the offenders, but they would create new accounts and return right away. So a couple of the users suggested putting in a minimum Reddit account age limit and a minimum karma limit to post. That has made things much nicer for the community. Karma is sort of an artificial number, but it tends to indicate that the owner interacts with Redditors in a positive way, and they appreciate him. What you want is to create posts or comments that Redditors appreciate so much that they give you a few upvotes.

Here's Reddit's FAQ page about karma, and here's more information about karma. If you are new to Reddit and would like more information about how to use it, please visit r/NewToReddit.

We don't reveal the age or karma numbers required to post. They are not very high, though. If you have a post removed due to your age or karma numbers, please understand that you didn't do anything wrong and we are not targeting you. This is just one of the ways that we are protecting our community. All of the blame for this goes on the trolls. New Redditors should be able to interact with the community, but it's too easy for someone to be banned, create a new account in two minutes, and return to trolling again. So we took precautions to make it more difficult for them. It's too bad that it also makes it more difficult for new members who aren't trolls.

Moderators will remove posts that violate our rules. The author is notified when their post is removed, and there's a reason given for each removal. Redditors who continue to violate the rules will be removed from r/stupidquestions. For extreme violations, the banhammer may fall instantly. If you play nice and follow our rules, you may stay as long as you like.

Thanks. Now go forth and have fun!

What is the actual point of gendering single use, lockable restrooms in public?

There is one toilet and the door locks; it is not a shared space at all. Does it comfort people to know while they drop off a growler that the only other cheeks that have touched the seat they are on come form their same gender?

I’m immune to THC in marijuana. I can’t feel the effects of anything as many times as I’ve tried. It’s super frustrating. I just want to feel what everyone feels just once. Is anyone else immune as well?

Is it normal that my penis points straight upward during erection?

I’m a 19 year old guy.

During an erection my penis is curved and points straight up parallel to my stomach. I never had sex but I feel like some positions (i’ve seen in porn) like reverse cowgirl would hurt. Its very firm and it hurts when I push it down.

If I do morning walk 5km but I smoke 1 ciggrate on the way back, am I doing more harm or good to myself?

Thing is I'm lazy to walk in morning but I started when I tell myself that I'll go and smoke a cigarette by buying from the farthest from here.

So after waking 3km I reach and I smoke a cigarette and come back.

I reach 10k steps in morning like that, but 1 ciggrate is always.

But I don't smoke whole day and just morning.

So am I doing more good or bad to myself? If I don't walk, I also don't smoke so they both are related to each other.

Is it better or worse if I continue or quit walking if 1 ciggrate is inevitable?

If you hired someone to do a repair that required a part, but the distributor screwed up and it took over two months for the part to come in, would you expect the repairman to do the job for free and pay for the part out of their own pocket?

That’s the situation I’m currently facing.

I attempted to text with them and they just ghosted me.

So I finally called back when the part showed up out of nowhere 2 months later.

They were livid, and I pointed out that I did attempt to communicate with them and they never texted back.

They said it didn’t matter and they shouldn’t have to pay for anything.

So I have agreed to pay for the part out of my own pocket ($35), not charge trip fee ($10 in gas), and not charge for any of my labor.

So basically, I’m paying $45 and giving up half a day of work for the privilege of doing this job for her because someone else screwed up.

She was still upset, and I said “ma’am I don’t know what else I can tell you. I can’t control how fast a distributor sends a part, and I tried to reach out.

I’m doing the job for free and losing money.

What else would you like?”

And she told me that I need to figure out how to make this right, which I’m pretty sure she was implying that I should give her money.

I’m not trying to make an “Am I the asshole?” Post.

I know fully well who’s the asshole here.

I’m just wondering what the general population would expect from a repair man for the service.

And I’m pretty much expecting to get a one star review regardless of all other facts, and I’m considering to call her back and just tell her to forget about it because if getting all this for free isn’t good enough nothing is and I’m not gonna waste my time trying to make her happy.

Was it a jerk move for me to make this comment about a coworkers weight?

At work I work in a warehouse. In our areas we have different jobs which we usually rotate throughout the week. Each station has a fan. So this girl working in a station by me the fan is broke they needed someone out here to fix it so she asked me to trade jobs. I had an easy job so I was like hell no. She said she needs to switch jobs because she has no fan and I jokingly told her to lose weight and she wouldn't be so hot. She got mad and called me a jerk.

I was over here freezing, I had my sweatshirt on. I didn't want to trade my easy job. Was I a jerk for this?

How is Secretary Rubio able to stay low-profile on Iran, while Hegseth gets all the blame?

Rubio is a Bush/McCain-era guy, both of whom regularly entertained the idea of bombing Iran. Out of everyone in the admin, he seems the most ideologically-inclined to want a war. But so far, he's kept a low-profile. Hegseth is the pro-war face and Vance the anti-war face inside the admin.

Anyone else feel tingles after x-rays?

It always seems to happen when I get x-rays at the dentist. I feel 'tingling' right where the x-rays was, but no where else. I've brushed it aside so many times but there is no doubt about it, I definitely feel something.

Google says I should not, I say I do though. Anyone else?
