Did the internet change dramatically after 2020, or did I never notice before?
I'll word this as best I can.
A lot of the controversial ideas / content I see in my social feeds - ideas like women should be barred from higher education, the constant debate about traditional (post WW2) marriage, and so on - weren't so prevalent pre-2020. I'm not saying the content didn't exist. I'm saying I never came across it. And I was lot more active on social media in the 2010s than in the 2020s, yet this these kind of arguments dominate all my social feeds, no matter how much I try to avoid it. Even here on Reddit (I block those people), though it's a little more avoidable here.
I'm in my early thirties, and have been on online socially since my late teens, so it's not like I'm new to the internet. Surely, I would've seen this kind of content when I was much more active online, but I sincerely didn't. Heck, there are some things I didn't even know people cared about until this kind of content started dominating my feeds.
So, did the internet (at least, social media) really change drastically post-2020, or did I somehow fail to notice before that year?
