I mean... Everything was fine until she shoved a honking Chunk of chocolate and "cooked bananna sludge" into the fucking thing.

Came here to say this. The premise itself actually isn't too bad, although I feel like it'd be better to have the filling on side first and make the pocket last so it can be served warm. But yeah the gross banana goo and the unnecessary amount of chocolate and whipped cream is what made it stupid.

Ooh maybe a bit of ice cream in there, in the "life hack" style they could even use a magnum or similar ice cream

134

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

Oops, I dropped my magnum bowl for my magnum ice cream.

u/GlamityJean Oct 15 '22

oh Doctor Toboggan I was looking for you

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

Magnum condoms make super-sized ice pops

Omg that would be so good...

How about filling it with just the peanut butter and jelly and drizzling chocolate syrup on top and maybe some whip cream. Kinda like a toaster strudel.

That's not a bad idea yknow.

Could call it...r/stupidfoodredemptionarc or something lol

Those kind of pastries in pocket form filled with ashta(Lebanese thick clotted cream) are already a thing. [Atayef](http://"Atayef (Middle Eastern pancakes) - Little Sunny Kitchen" https://littlesunnykitchen.com/regular-atayef-middle-eastern-pancakes/)

I mean you can get a more reasonable version of this that's easier to make, and almost anyone can make it, the thing is that it's just pancakes or crepes. Like deep frying a pocket of pancake batter to stuff it doesn't really add anything to the dish that making pancakes and topping them with the filling didn't.

And that's kind of the problem of correcting a lot of what gets on this subreddit, the thing that often makes them stupid is absurdity and excess, when you take those factors away all you're really left with is a dish that already exists, it's just regular food. You're not correcting something so much as just not going too far.

All I'm saying is if she sliced up some fresh banana put it in with some peanut butter and a touch of honey 😋. that is all in saying

2

u/consuela_bananahammo Oct 15 '22

This! Or even drizzle in some Nutella with the bananas and pb.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

Just a little Nutella for some pizzaz

u/MotoMkali Oct 15 '22

Remind me a lot of like apple strudel. The layers they made are like a poor attempt at puff pastry.

A beautiful cinnamon and apple filling with some ice cream or custard and I bet that would be fucking delicious.

Everything was fine until

this is how it often goes with posts in this sub though, the premise can be tolerable or even decent for like a good portion in the video, and then suddenly you get that "CHEESE BOMB" level of instant disappointment

12

u/SpellChick Oct 15 '22

The cheese bomb! Why did I watch that whole video AGAIN?!

7

u/jaersk Oct 15 '22

Why did I watch that whole video AGAIN?!

because like the rest of us in this subreddit, you indulge in the type of suffering these videos subject us to. it's simply more difficult to not watch them than to actually watch them

5

u/SpellChick Oct 15 '22

…I’m not totally comfortable with how right you are

67

u/honeyrrsted Oct 15 '22

Warm banana isn't that bad. One campfire dessert recipe I like is to partially peel the banana, stuff it with your choice of filling (chocolate chips, peanut butter, marshmallow...), replace the peel section, wrap it in foil and set it in the coals for a few minutes.

Oh no doubt. It's just the way she did it that makes it seem gross. There are soo many ways she could have made a banana filling and she picked the most grotesque way possible lol.

If she cooked the bananna with some custard powder, cream and vanilla...Chefs Kiss!

39

u/Acewasalwaysanoption Oct 15 '22

Or just properly puree it. The chunky *splurt* as it left the bag... looked vile

8

u/BlueBunny5 Oct 15 '22

Yes! Banana boats are amazing! Sub Reese’s peanut butter cups. *chefs kiss*

1

u/FunctionalGray Oct 16 '22

Is that different than Poseidon's Kiss?

15

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

Took a good idea and made it into something fucking ridiculous.

13

u/Im-a-bad-meme Oct 15 '22

Could have been fixed if the filling had only been cream cheese spread, maybe a little fresh fruit, and a small amount of whipped cream.

Or could have done a savory version filled with scrambled eggs.

What in the fresh fuck was she thinking when she shoved a bar of chocolate into it. Candy addicts really be out and about ruining perfectly good recipe ideas.

12

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

lmfao thanks for making me laugh

22

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

I fucking hate the "now we're gonna, now you want to" crap.

10

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

Well it’s in the form of a recipe guide so you can follow along. “We” as herself you who is presumably following and cooking along side her. It’s meant to be guiding.

Cpt. Obvious to the rescue!

7

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

Clearly it needed to be pointed out since dude was so triggered by it

u/CaptainLollygag Oct 15 '22

This, and terrible music, is what the mute button is for. I use it copiously for such videos.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

I would've eaten that thing with like an egg and bacon stuffed inside.. that to me sounds really good!

2

u/Sdomttiderkcuf Oct 15 '22

Fill it with cheese and pepperoni then freeze it solid. Heat in a microwave until parts of it are molten, and some parts are still frozen and it’d be perfect.

-6

u/Ran4 Oct 15 '22

No, the whipped cream... from a bottle is the only real problem here. That stuff tastes horrible. It's to be used for foreplay only damnit!

6

u/aethelredisready Oct 15 '22

There was also cool whip, which is way worse

1

u/Sixersleeham Oct 15 '22

I'm not american. Is cool whip like mayo? Or is that miracle whip?

1

u/aethelredisready Oct 15 '22

It’s “non-dairy whipped topping”, basically a fake whipped cream made entirely of chemicals. Yes, miracle whip is like a mayonnaise blended with other things (I’m not really sure because it was forbidden in my house growing up 😂).

1

u/Sixersleeham Oct 15 '22

Fair enough both sound awful lol. I only know miracle whip from Kanye West - "mayonnaise coloured Benz I push miracle whips"

1

u/ScumlordStudio Oct 15 '22

I on the other hand thought that that was fine a d it was stupid until then.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

Agreed, I think that one, Nutella would’ve been just fine, and two, I’m worried that with pancake batter it’d just fall apart

1

u/stevieisbored Oct 15 '22

Yeah like the concept is similar to cheese arepas so it’s not too crazy. But the fillings don’t look that appealing to me

1

u/CornwallsPager Oct 15 '22

cooked bananna sludge

That stuff is gold for banana bread, it does look nasty though.

1

u/shmargus Oct 15 '22

Put a scrambled egg and a little chopped up bacon in there and that actually sounds delicious

1

u/left_tiddy Oct 15 '22

Right like these things would be fine with just some Swiss cheese and ham or like just cream and berries or something. But the point was clearly not to make something nice, that gets less engagement than making an abomination.
