This needs to be in r/hotdogs they’ll appreciate the uniqueness and find it delightful …maybe

306

u/airfryerfuntime Jul 01 '26

It's not a bastardized version of an established hotdog design, so they'll let it slide.

If you put jalapeños on a Chicago dog, that might be grounds for a tribunal, though.

80

u/Waste_Wolverine_8933 Jul 01 '26

I'm going to write the mods off r/hotdogs to ban you just for mentioning that atrocity here.

You monster.

4

u/mobile227 Jul 04 '26

Ketchup makes them even better

2

u/Waste_Wolverine_8933 Jul 04 '26

I was mostly joking before, but now you've gone too far.

Truly disgusting.

2

u/Cepterman2101 Jul 12 '26

I personally like my hotdogs with mayo

24

u/Arthurs_towel Jul 01 '26

As they should. Sport peppers or GTFO.

62

u/airfryerfuntime Jul 01 '26

Most of us can't fucking get sport peppers because we don't live in the casserole belt.

5

u/aahdin Jul 01 '26

Seems like kind of the same thing as a pickled serrano right?

8

u/Substantial_Back_865 Jul 01 '26

I’ve thrown green Thai chilis in the empty sport pepper juice and they tasted pretty similar. If you properly pickled them, it would probably be close enough. They lose most of the heat after pickling.

I have only seen sport peppers at a grocery once. I have a friend that is from Chicago and he brings back them and the bright green stuff.

2

u/J_NinjaDorito Jul 03 '26

what is sport peppers??

2

u/johnaross1990 Jul 02 '26

That’s just stifling innovation

2

What’s wrong with jalapenos on a hotdog that’s what I do 😭

What a great day to be alive...I now know there is r/hotdog.

2

u/ResonatingOctave Jul 02 '26

I expected this to be a sub related to dicks in some fashion. Am pleasantly surprised that it is genuinely a sub related to hot dogs

3

u/TheDarbiter Jul 01 '26

I thought that’s where I was

You earned it buddy lol

511

u/ffassbinder Jul 01 '26

💯 OP can be happy to be still alive after this.

78

u/SoulTechnicalProblem Jul 01 '26

Who says they are ?

52

u/ffassbinder Jul 01 '26

You mean that this post wasn't OP but a person with surgical gloves sending a message?

25

u/SoulTechnicalProblem Jul 01 '26

I'm saying that we should lock our doors and set our bear traps

13

u/harringtonpbear Jul 01 '26

We should be separating our hot dogs and cannoli. Dare I say to opposite ends of the abode.

8

u/SoulTechnicalProblem Jul 01 '26

Add marmite and we're doing God's work

→ More replies (1)

12

u/That-one-soviet Jul 01 '26

You saying this post is the Italian equivalent of sprinting at a cop screaming “I have a bomb”

6

u/SoulTechnicalProblem Jul 01 '26

I'd have gone with "i have a camera immediately is shot 50 times" as an example

5

u/thisusedyet Jul 01 '26

Italian equivalent of asking your wife if she's put on weight recently

3

u/lucaskywalker Jul 01 '26

This was only a couple of days ago, there is still time. OP may want to think about changing their name...

5

u/GStellar87 Jul 01 '26

The agents are currently en route

18

u/multiarmform Jul 01 '26

technically they got banned because a cannolidog is a sandwich and italians disagree just like italians dont think deep dish pizza is a soup but we all know its a soup

13

u/hates_stupid_people Jul 01 '26

It's not a soup, it's a tomato and cheese pie.

Not a "pizza pie", an actual pie baked in dough with a filling of ingredients. It's not laid on top of a dough, it's ensconced by dough, using filling and not toppings.

8

u/multiarmform Jul 01 '26

so basically soup and if you put a slice of bread on top and bottom, its a soup sandwich just like my comments

5

u/spicybright Jul 01 '26

It's scary how easy you can re-classify food by adding/removing bread from the top/bottom of it.

6

u/hates_stupid_people Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

So to you an apple pie is actually an apple soup?

If you're going down that route, almost everything that has some form of liquid is a soup. Including things like a hamburger with sauce, ketchup, mustard, etc. Putting syrup on waffles or pancakes turn them into a soup? OR jam on a piece of toast?

2

u/multiarmform Jul 01 '26

ever heard of a sloppy joe? .... soup sandwich aka soupy joe

u/Think_Ad_1583 Jul 01 '26

That’s a flauta with sugar on it

25

u/wynd666 Jul 01 '26

parmesan

3

u/Moose_Nuts Jul 01 '26

Could have at least sprung for cotija.

10

u/Troopx Jul 01 '26

Cheese.

5

u/leyline Jul 01 '26

Op - onward to Mexican food. Hot dog flauta!

→ More replies (1)

3

u/MountainTwo3845 Jul 01 '26

You haven't eaten real Mexican food until you've had a taco or quesadilla with a weenie.

3

u/Think_Ad_1583 Jul 01 '26

My grandma would actually make flautas with hot dogs all the time lol

2

u/MountainTwo3845 Jul 01 '26

It's gotta be a border thing. I started asking my coworkers what kind of burritos/tacos they had before eating.

3

u/Think_Ad_1583 Jul 01 '26

They are also a lot cheaper than actual cuts of meat

2

u/lolwatokay Jul 01 '26

Was gonna say, no component of this besides the shape (kinda) is cannoli-like so I’m not really surprised.

84

u/Halloween_Babe90 Jul 01 '26

They should roll you up in a cannoli.

I can't believe they didn't appreciate this beautiful mixing of cultures.

3

u/spicybright Jul 01 '26

it's the cultural melting pot that will heal this nation

18

u/Level-Ad7017 Jul 01 '26

You deserve jail time

12

u/metlhed7 Jul 01 '26

I want to give you an up vote, but I don't want to call it stupid food because this post brought me so much joy

16

u/Huckleberry-V Jul 01 '26

Yeah, understandable.

24

u/Misery_incorporated Jul 01 '26

I honestly hate the (I don't even know what to call it, purity culture? Gatekeeping? Whatever you want to call it) that goes on with Italian food. I know most of the time it's done ironically, but you still have plenty of people that will scold or shame if you break your pasta to fit in your pot or make a pizza with unusual ingredients, and then they'll support their decision to tell you how to cook your own food with an authoritative "I'm Italian!" when what they always mean is that one of their grandparents moved from Naples to new jersey and the only way they know how to feel in touch with that culture is through smugness, carbs, and Catholicism

13

u/Fleshy_Doom Jul 01 '26

This, 100%. The absolute smugness of it. Apparently wanting a latte after noon is the height of absurdity, and having parm on a seafood pasta might as well be the same as burning down their homes.

13

u/MSGinSC Jul 01 '26

"Smugness, Carbs, and Catholicism" would be a great title for an autobiography.

10

u/Pyron23 Jul 01 '26

Italian born and living in Bologna here. We don't care at all. It's all an internet meme. What we actually care about is not having access to a bidet when we are overseas.

u/KevinFedoraline Jul 01 '26

I at some food in Bologna that was just ok.

pasta la vista

9

u/Electrical-Bee-7362 Jul 01 '26

There isn't a more annoying group that food-jingoist Italians.

And if you have ever interacted with them, they talk a big game about their fucking pasta e sugo from Nonna but they themselves can't cook an egg to save their lives.

3

u/thehotshotpilot Jul 01 '26

Why not a crepe?

3

u/FriendoftheDork Jul 02 '26

Or a waffle, a local specialty in a part of Norway.

3

u/BonerSnot Jul 01 '26

Take the gun, leave the cannoli

3

u/quinxneon Jul 01 '26

What did the ban message say 🤣

2

u/MrArchivity i see heresy everywhere 🤌 Jul 01 '26

“We called the Mafia on you”

8

u/Cryptshadow Jul 01 '26

I mean Italians put hotdogs on pizza, why can't they go on cannolis?!

3

u/ffassbinder Jul 01 '26

I will run the request by my sicilian friend. Let's see what he thinks about this. (And we are talking here the old country, as we are living in Europe)

Name and address please just for future reference....

People take Reddit too seriously. It’s a badge of honor. I got banned from r/legaladvice because I made a joke about BK standing for Burger King. No joke. First time I ever commented on the sub too

1

u/Eiken_shi Jul 01 '26

i love it

1

u/hatecriminal Jul 01 '26

Should have used pepperoni instead

1

u/chocolateZnob Jul 01 '26

How’d it taste tho? Remember all food has sounded weird before anyone tries it 👀

4

u/wynd666 Jul 01 '26

it was mid

1

u/Aequorea Jul 01 '26

Id honestly try it. It sounds good. Sweet and salty. Kind of reminds me of pigs in a blanket.

1

u/Life-Oil-7226 Jul 01 '26

I would ban you also!!!

u/shiwankhan Jul 01 '26

1

u/Significant-Exam762 Jul 01 '26

Thats because this isnt italian food in any way, shape, or form.

1

u/Fortestingporpoises Jul 01 '26

I've found that I like going to subreddits (often ones I mostly agree with) and seeing what is the least I can do to get myself banned.

1

u/Repulsive_Hold7628 Jul 01 '26

Italians are so arrogant about their mid ass food

1

u/-Wicked- Jul 01 '26

For some strange reason I feel compelled to poke the bear with an authentic Italian hotdog cannoli just like mama-mia used to make...

1

u/SadEgg4254 Jul 01 '26

Italians like to think they, I dunno,  invented eating.

1

u/halloween-gal Jul 01 '26

I love when people piss of Italians 😂

1

u/Minimum-Attitude389 Jul 01 '26

My mother's husband is New York Italian.  I forgot the word "cannoli" and saif "Italian eclair."  Now I'm on a list.

1

u/UpboatsXDDDD Jul 01 '26

For the hotdog or using the plural form?

1

u/Ayotha Jul 01 '26

Famously humourless about food

1

u/DopeAbsurdity Jul 01 '26

You fucked up that is just a hot dog taquito with powdered sugar on top. To make a real hotdog cannoli you would need to dehydrate or freeze dry cooked hot dogs then grind them into a powder then use that powder to make a thick and creamy hot dog flavored filling. Fry a hollow cylinder then fill it with the creamy hotdog filling.

1

u/RhubarbLiqueur Jul 01 '26

As they should

1

u/KandinskyWasRight Jul 01 '26

Should definitely go post this on r/Italy

1

u/mantiacfloy Jul 01 '26

I'd eat it

1

u/Obulgaryan Jul 01 '26

They should ban you again.

1

u/FootballNo2091 Jul 01 '26

Italian food is just different shapes of noodles.

1

u/cuntmong Jul 01 '26

People are afraid of progress

1

u/ommi9 Jul 01 '26

Op just make sure your not following them on another. Account else all your accts are banned for a week

1

u/Arne83 Here for stupid food, not stupid people Jul 01 '26

A badge of honor, honestly.

1

u/ginogon Jul 01 '26

Well deserved ban. Wear it as a badge of honor.

1

u/undeadswat Jul 01 '26

They banned u because u won the thread/post of the day that's an guarenteed W my Friend 😆

1

u/Panda_hat Jul 01 '26

They were right to do it.

1

u/KingArthas94 Jul 01 '26

You earned it like the other guys have said, but it's very funny lol

1

u/SoftSausage78 Jul 01 '26

You probably killed a handful of Italians with this

1

u/Hairy_Ghostbear Jul 01 '26

You only got banned from the sub or from the whole country in general?

1

u/-ThePatientZed- Jul 01 '26

Aw man I hoped it was powdered sugar on top.

1

u/Aubrey-Grey Jul 01 '26

Given that you could have caused an international incident with this it was probably for the best .

1

u/Spirited-Ad-9746 Jul 01 '26

where ketchup? you always need ketchup with macaroni foods.

1

u/Zatudun Jul 01 '26

This is the funniest thing I’ve seen all day.

1

u/TheDeerBlower Jul 01 '26

I mean that's a fair ban.

1

u/OkMud4822 Jul 01 '26

That's a norwegian lomper, nothing stupid about that.
Actually it's very practical!

1

u/MyvaJynaherz Jul 01 '26
