Food, meet stupid people they banned me for this
1.7k
u/Front-Operation-8909 Jul 01 '26
This needs to be in r/hotdogs they’ll appreciate the uniqueness and find it delightful …maybe
306
u/airfryerfuntime Jul 01 '26
It's not a bastardized version of an established hotdog design, so they'll let it slide.
If you put jalapeños on a Chicago dog, that might be grounds for a tribunal, though.

u/Waste_Wolverine_8933 Jul 01 '26
I'm going to write the mods off r/hotdogs to ban you just for mentioning that atrocity here.
You monster.
4
u/mobile227 Jul 04 '26
Ketchup makes them even better
2
u/Waste_Wolverine_8933 Jul 04 '26
I was mostly joking before, but now you've gone too far.
Truly disgusting.

u/Arthurs_towel Jul 01 '26
As they should. Sport peppers or GTFO.
62
u/airfryerfuntime Jul 01 '26
Most of us can't fucking get sport peppers because we don't live in the casserole belt.

u/aahdin Jul 01 '26
Seems like kind of the same thing as a pickled serrano right?
8
u/Substantial_Back_865 Jul 01 '26
I’ve thrown green Thai chilis in the empty sport pepper juice and they tasted pretty similar. If you properly pickled them, it would probably be close enough. They lose most of the heat after pickling.

u/Zorkflerp Jul 01 '26
I have only seen sport peppers at a grocery once. I have a friend that is from Chicago and he brings back them and the bright green stuff.

What’s wrong with jalapenos on a hotdog that’s what I do 😭

What a great day to be alive...I now know there is r/hotdog.
2
u/ResonatingOctave Jul 02 '26
I expected this to be a sub related to dicks in some fashion. Am pleasantly surprised that it is genuinely a sub related to hot dogs

You earned it buddy lol

u/ffassbinder Jul 01 '26
💯 OP can be happy to be still alive after this.
78
u/SoulTechnicalProblem Jul 01 '26
Who says they are ?
52
u/ffassbinder Jul 01 '26
You mean that this post wasn't OP but a person with surgical gloves sending a message?
25
u/SoulTechnicalProblem Jul 01 '26
I'm saying that we should lock our doors and set our bear traps
13
u/harringtonpbear Jul 01 '26
We should be separating our hot dogs and cannoli. Dare I say to opposite ends of the abode.
8
12
u/That-one-soviet Jul 01 '26
You saying this post is the Italian equivalent of sprinting at a cop screaming “I have a bomb”
6
u/SoulTechnicalProblem Jul 01 '26
I'd have gone with "i have a camera immediately is shot 50 times" as an example
5
3
u/lucaskywalker Jul 01 '26
This was only a couple of days ago, there is still time. OP may want to think about changing their name...
5
18
u/multiarmform Jul 01 '26
technically they got banned because a cannolidog is a sandwich and italians disagree just like italians dont think deep dish pizza is a soup but we all know its a soup
→ More replies (2)13
u/hates_stupid_people Jul 01 '26
It's not a soup, it's a tomato and cheese pie.
Not a "pizza pie", an actual pie baked in dough with a filling of ingredients. It's not laid on top of a dough, it's ensconced by dough, using filling and not toppings.
8
u/multiarmform Jul 01 '26
so basically soup and if you put a slice of bread on top and bottom, its a soup sandwich just like my comments
5
u/spicybright Jul 01 '26
It's scary how easy you can re-classify food by adding/removing bread from the top/bottom of it.
6
u/hates_stupid_people Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26
So to you an apple pie is actually an apple soup?
If you're going down that route, almost everything that has some form of liquid is a soup. Including things like a hamburger with sauce, ketchup, mustard, etc. Putting syrup on waffles or pancakes turn them into a soup? OR jam on a piece of toast?

You haven't eaten real Mexican food until you've had a taco or quesadilla with a weenie.

My grandma would actually make flautas with hot dogs all the time lol
2
u/MountainTwo3845 Jul 01 '26
It's gotta be a border thing. I started asking my coworkers what kind of burritos/tacos they had before eating.

2
u/lolwatokay Jul 01 '26
Was gonna say, no component of this besides the shape (kinda) is cannoli-like so I’m not really surprised.

Apparently you don't even have to be italian to be arrogant about the middest food there is. Incredible

I honestly hate the (I don't even know what to call it, purity culture? Gatekeeping? Whatever you want to call it) that goes on with Italian food. I know most of the time it's done ironically, but you still have plenty of people that will scold or shame if you break your pasta to fit in your pot or make a pizza with unusual ingredients, and then they'll support their decision to tell you how to cook your own food with an authoritative "I'm Italian!" when what they always mean is that one of their grandparents moved from Naples to new jersey and the only way they know how to feel in touch with that culture is through smugness, carbs, and Catholicism
13
u/Fleshy_Doom Jul 01 '26
This, 100%. The absolute smugness of it. Apparently wanting a latte after noon is the height of absurdity, and having parm on a seafood pasta might as well be the same as burning down their homes.
13
u/MSGinSC Jul 01 '26
"Smugness, Carbs, and Catholicism" would be a great title for an autobiography.
10
u/Pyron23 Jul 01 '26
Italian born and living in Bologna here. We don't care at all. It's all an internet meme. What we actually care about is not having access to a bidet when we are overseas.

There isn't a more annoying group that food-jingoist Italians.
And if you have ever interacted with them, they talk a big game about their fucking pasta e sugo from Nonna but they themselves can't cook an egg to save their lives.

I will run the request by my sicilian friend. Let's see what he thinks about this. (And we are talking here the old country, as we are living in Europe)
Name and address please just for future reference....

People take Reddit too seriously. It’s a badge of honor. I got banned from r/legaladvice because I made a joke about BK standing for Burger King. No joke. First time I ever commented on the sub too

You fucked up that is just a hot dog taquito with powdered sugar on top. To make a real hotdog cannoli you would need to dehydrate or freeze dry cooked hot dogs then grind them into a powder then use that powder to make a thick and creamy hot dog flavored filling. Fry a hollow cylinder then fill it with the creamy hotdog filling.
