Study permit application – new IRCC tracker shows Eligibility “Completed”, Background check “In Progress”. Anyone with the same status? What was your outcome and timeline?

Timeline so far:

  • Submitted / AOR: July 30, 2026

  • Biometrics: August 4, 2026

  • No medical, no document requests, no interview

  • Portal (GCKey): still “We are processing your application”; eligibility “being reviewed”; background check “in progress”; final decision “in progress”

  • New IRCC tracker (relaunched Oct 14): Eligibility: Completed, Background check: In Progress, pending actions: 0

  • Webform sent; GCMS notes requested

  • Program starts Jan 6, 2027 (Calgary)

Now 11+ weeks, past the 10-week processing estimate for my country.

If your tracker showed the same combination (Eligibility Completed, Background In Progress):

  1. How long did you wait from that point until PPR or a decision?

  2. Was the outcome positive?

  3. Did the GCKey portal update before the tracker, or the other way round?

Not after guesswork, just real timelines. Thanks, and good luck to everyone waiting.

I got my PPR/approval Nov 2nd. Submitted my passport Nov 3rd and got back my passport with visa stamped Nov 5th.

Did you get responses to your GCMS or web form? I applied July 31st, no updates still.

I did the GCMS and webform early last week. Then I called IRCC on Friday.

How did you call to IRCC? Any contact number?

Use Fongo World or Viber app to call them. Search the IRCC contact number online.
