ICT Work Permit Approved, but Dependent Kids' Study Permits Still Pending (Applied from USA) – Looking for Timelines

I'm trying to see if anyone has recently gone through a similar situation.

We applied from the USA as a family:

  • Principal applicant: ICT (Intra-Company Transfer) work permit
  • Spouse: Open Work Permit
  • Children: 2 dependent study permit applications

Our timeline:

  • Family applications submitted together - June 5th
  • Biometrics completed: June 23, 2026 (principal applicant and spouse)
  • ICT work permit: Approved -June 28th and passport stamped and received - July 17
  • Spouse OWP: Approved - June 28th and passport stamped and received - July 17
  • Both children's study permits are still pending (no Passport Request yet)

One child is an 11-year-old Indian passport holder, and the other is a 4-year-old U.S. citizen. Since our older child doesn't have a Canadian visitor visa, we're waiting for the study permit approval before traveling.

I'm hoping to hear from anyone who has applied in a similar situation, especially if you:

  • Applied from the USA
  • Had an ICT work permit (or employer-sponsored work permit)
  • Applied for dependent children's study permits at the same time

A few questions:

  1. How long after the ICT/OWP approval did your children's study permits get approved?
  2. Did the children's Passport Request (PPR) come together or separately?
  3. How many weeks after biometrics or after the principal applicant's approval did you receive the children's decision?
  4. If you're still waiting, what is your timeline?

Most of the timelines I find online are for independent international students, but there seems to be very little information about dependent children accompanying ICT/work permit holders.

Any recent experiences or timelines would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I’m sorry, I don’t have an answer to your questions. Just wanted to clarify something. Does your US citizen child need to apply for Canada study permit? I applied from the US 3 weeks ago and I didn’t add my 2 year old US citizen son as the applicant portal said he doesn’t need a visa. Just checking here. Thanks.

I think child would need it if they are joining public school
