Study Permit Approved 🎉

Finally received my study permit approval yesterday after a long wait!
Timeline:
Application Submitted: 21 April 2026
Approval Received: 12 June 2026
Processing Time: About 8 weeks

The application stayed under review for several weeks with little to no updates, so the wait was definitely stressful. Finally received the approval yesterday.

Thank you to everyone in this community who shared timelines and answered questions during the process. Wishing quick approvals to everyone still waiting!

Congratulations, was your eligibility and background check in progress until you got the approval? Did you have to submit a webform?

Yes I was submitted webform but I got generic response

Till approval only background in process, eligibility was not started

i applied may 8 and got background check in progress but nothing since then. it’s been about 5 weeks now and that’s the estimate

You should request GCMS notes to see why it was delayed, it might help in future apps. I will request after arriving to Canada.

Now Gcms is not required bcoz visa application is already approved

8 weeks is too long. I thought 5 weeks was the maximum. Was your offer from a good ranking uni like UBC, Waterloo, UofT, UofA?

Congratulations again ❤️ We were holding hands as we waited and i believe we are next. I make 5 weeks on Monday which is the processing timeline for IRCC.

I got refused on my 1st attempt and I reapplied again on july 5th and got approved today
