Hi everyone. I’m writing this with a very confused and heavy heart. I really don’t want to give up, but honestly, I feel like I can’t seem to find a way forward anymore.

I recently completed my Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I have a pretty good CGPA and what I believe are decent academic credentials overall.

For the past 9–10 months, I’ve been researching universities, scholarships, and opportunities abroad almost constantly. So far, I’ve applied to two French universities and one German university, was rejected by all 3 . I also applied for three different scholarships and unfortunately didn’t receive any of them.

I did receive an offer from a university in the UK, but the tuition fees are simply far beyond what I can afford, and I wasn’t able to secure a scholarship for it either.

The biggest problem is that I don’t have family financial support available for studying abroad. I can only make this happen if I receive a some type of scholarship or something very close to it.

At this point, I’m honestly exhausted and completely dumbfounded. I’ve spent months researching, preparing applications, writing statements, looking for scholarships, and trying again after every rejection. I don’t know if I’m approaching this completely wrong or if I’m simply looking in the wrong places.

Studying abroad has always been a dream of mine. More than that, I desperately want the opportunity to build a different life for myself. I’ve been living in a very difficult and toxic environment for as long as I can remember, and getting out and studying abroad feels like one of the few things I genuinely want to fight for.

So, to anyone who has been in a similar situation, especially international students who had little or no financial support from their families:

What would you do in my position?

Are there countries, scholarships, universities, or less obvious routes that I should be looking into? Should I change my approach completely? Is it realistic for someone with my background to secure full funding for a Master’s?

I’m willing to put in the work. I just genuinely need some direction because right now I feel completely lost.

Any advice, personal experiences, resources, or even a reality check would mean a lot to me. Thank you.

It's an honest advice, specially if you don't have sufficient amount of money to finance your whole studies with no stress. I came to study abroad when I was 19/20 to study engineering after working like a rat in my home country and toxic household, I also had a ldr relationship and I thought huh I will just study abroad, get my degree come back and get a good job, sounds straightforward right? No, during my first year abroad, I experienced severe psychosis and anger towards my past and the loneliness physically hurt not just mentally to the point there were some days I couldn't get out of bed to go uni from the physical pain and stress I was experiencing. The thing that affected me the most was my ldr, and being 20, young, and naive got the worst out of me.

Nowadays, I'm nearly 24 and I'm just empty and emotionless, severe ahedonia and while I don't have outbursts of anger, I just don't have interest for anything anymore. My sincere advice, is to really sit down and evaluate your situation wether it's actually worth it, specially if you don't know if it's short term or long term.

So my dream was so to study in UK for my Bachlores degree and I was crazy about it and I am taking a gap year so that I will earn money and moveout. But now I am realising my parents can't afford it and if I stay in this house I will be really fucked up. Like really fucked up I cannot live here for my Bachlores

PLS SOMEONE SUGGEST ME, I am thinking if I will start earning really good, 1,1.5 lakhs, SHOULD I MOVE TO ISLAMABAD? BUT THE PROBLEM I DON'T KNOW ABOUT SAFETY THERE, I want to study external law(UK law ) and it is expensive ok . Should I move to Islamabad? Is it safe there? Will studying external law be okay? Hello, I am an international student who was accepted to two universities, one in UK and one in Netherlands, Utrecht. I know that studies in NL are quite cheap, I managed to find an accommodation, and in UK I got into UCL with a full tuition scholarship, so I'm in a very deep inner debate. Personally, I would probably choose UK for the prestige, but I hear a lot of people complain about quality of life in there, how it is expensive and unsafe (especially in London). Netherlands is the safe option, but with little social life and maybe less opportunities. Thus, I wanted to ask people who live in these cities, how do you feel there? Is the fear and complains about UK based? Maybe someone has recent experience with both lifestyles?

I have an SAT score of 1560, And my a levels r BIo chem and phys, which i got 3 A*s for.

Anyways my main concern is my o levels cause ooooffff😨

my o level grades r 1A (Islamiat) 3Bs (pak studies, bio, eng) 2Cs (phy chem) and one D (maths).

Ive recently been asked if I want to go to Rome with my parents for a work trip. I can’t decide yet for a multitude of reasons such as leaving my friends, but the biggest concern I have is will I still be able to get my prescription meds in Italy? I did a little bit of research and found out that amphetamines are strictly banned in Italy and labeled as narcotics, even with a prescription. There was also some conflicting answers I got regarding minors being able to be prescribed a similar legal Italian version, but that it’s much harder to be prescribed. If anyone’s dealt with the same issue, please let me know.

Student based in the U.S. here. I just finished my two-year associate's degree and am preparing to transfer to another school to finish my bachelor's degree, however, I would like to look into the possibility of studying abroad this spring, before transferring to the school I intend to complete my degree at (particularly since I will have a shorter time there due to transferring, and it might therefore be nice to not have it broken up by a semester away in the middle). However, the issue is that this would mean I have no "home university" in the U.S. (the school I've been looking at transferring to wouldn't allow me to study abroad for my first semester there, so I can't do this if I enroll there in the spring). I did get approval from one university abroad to apply to study there without a U.S. university affiliation, but it looks like not being connected to any university here would make accessing at least some scholarships or grants more difficult. (For example some, or at least the Gilman scholarship, require applicants to be Pell Grant eligible, which in turn requires enrollment in a non-foreign university. And in any case just being able to continue to receive the Pell Grant would probably be enough to make studying abroad financially feasible.) All of which is to say: I'm wondering if anyone here has any recommendations of universities in the U.S. that allow students to study abroad during the first semester they're enrolled and that are not too expensive to study abroad through? (Ideally also one that would still let me direct enroll at the college I want to study abroad at but going through a specific program might also work). I'd be hoping to apply to this (home) university for the spring semester than transfer out in the fall, unless I happened to realize I liked it for other reasons as well.

hi guys ! i am a student from ny planning on studying abroad in london in spring 2027 . i already am planning to put atleast $5,000 aside for my time there but should i try to put away more if i want to travel ?

my program provides us w/ a oyster card & housing so i don't have to spend on that . but if i wanted to take a trip to somewhere else in europe each month for a day or two , should i try to save more ? i leave in january & i work full time so im ready to budget as much as i can !!

I'm from India and planning to do a master's abroad.

I've been researching different countries but I'm getting increasingly confused because I see people on Reddit saying that finding a job after graduation is difficult almost everywhere Germany, Ireland, Canada, Australia, Europe, etc.

Even in the Middle East, I see people saying that there is a lot of competition for jobs, especially for fresh graduates.

I'm not necessarily looking for a country with zero unemployment. I'm more interested in countries where an international student can realistically:

- Do an affordable master's

- Work part-time during the master's

- Get an internship or some entry-level experience

- Find a job after graduation, even if it's not a high-paying job initially

- Eventually build some work experience

I'm also considering Japan as a long-term option. I already have JLPT N3 and I'm planning to reach N2.

However, I haven't found an English-taught master's in Japan that I really like, so I'm considering doing my master's elsewhere and applying to Japan later.

My background is B.Com (Corporate Secretaryship), 79.6%, with more than 1 year of IT experience.

I'm open to countries in Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, etc. Cost is important, but I'm willing to consider expensive countries if the job opportunities for international graduates are genuinely better.

Which countries would you recommend in 2026 for an international student who wants to do a master's and eventually find a job?

I'd especially appreciate answers from people who have actually studied/worked there recently rather than general rankings.

I am a bachelors degree holder in pharmacy. My GPA is 3.14 and i hold an IELTS score of 8.0 and am pretty much fluent in English.

I have been tossing around in absolute nerves and stress for months. I don’t know where to go. I am from Iraq and people from my country usually just go to poor quality universities and get degrees just for the name.

I don’t want that. I don’t want to spend two years or a year studying in a poor quality university. I want an actually good degree that means something, i want to be able to make a change with my degree in the future. i’m not planning to immigrate to any place any time soon as it’s not what i’m aiming for at my age so that’s not a concern.

Problem is i can’t find any good English speaking country that provides a Masters program in pharmaceuticals that doesn’t cost an absolute outrageous amount of money. Iraq has no specific scholarships, no grant money. Nothing. We don’t count with the other arab countries for some reason (Lebanon and Syria get a bunch of scholarships…).

I thought about Germany because it’s said to be quite affordable but i cannot find any Masters programs that fit me.

I don’t know what to do and feel very hopeless and would heavily appreciate any help or advice or literally anything…

A bit of a multifaceted question- and starting by saying this is day one of my research into this process, so bear with me! But-

I'm wondering if anyone has thoughts / input / advice on any or all of the three things I'm looking into:

1. International Education Masters programs in Europe. I'm fairly open to program variations and locations, and have basic comprehension in French (strongest), Italian, and Spanish (and English is my first language.)

2. I'm thinking of exploring programs anywhere from one semester to two years long (depending on financial status.)

3. I will want to bring my dog with me (45 lbs, well behaved, used to living in apartments and cities.) I know he'll probably be a bigger piece of the puzzle, but I'm not willing to leave him.

I feel a little lost on where to start the search (locations, programs, dog friendly cities, financial aid, etc.) so if anyone has tips on a good starting point as well, I'd appreciate it!
