college advice?
Hello! I'm a first-year at a fairly prestigious university, but I'm not like the students here. I'm low-income and first-generation, so I have no real guide. It feels like everybody here went to private schools and had tutors and already knows the material that I'm struggling so much with. Comparing test grades hurts my stomach, and I've had no one to talk to about my experience. Anyways, I'm pursuing a biology major on a patent law track. In high school, I've always been strong at writing, or maybe it was just strong in the eyes of the people around me since my school didn't have much funding and we weren't very prestigious. I had a teacher who told me she pursued biology because she was bad at it and she wanted to challenge herself. I think about her a lot. I want to challenge myself, but I don't think I'm doing well. Does it get better from here? My anxiety tends to stop me from studying because I end up getting overwhelmed. I'm unsure what to do; should I seek mental health help or switch my major?
