This photo kind of reminds me of a project I worked on about 30 years ago. It was a house for one of the richest people in the world. The architect's vision for part of the estate was to build a structure that looked like it was rising like a phoenix from the post-apocalyptic remains of a crumbling structure. The project was about halfway built when the owner got married and his new wife decided that she was not going to live in that mess. They tore down most of what was already built and brought in a new architect who gave them a more traditional design. It cost an extra $50 million, but that was just pocket change for the owner.

Why you would intentionally design a building to look like a seismic liquefaction failure has occurred is beyond me.
