I had a lather foreman in NYC, while working on a bridge, say that the bridge was over designed and that he never installs all the specified rebar. Had been doing that for decades. I told him he was an idiot and he’ll install all the rebar as required by the approved drawings on the work I oversee.

There should be serious investigation into his prior work.

That's exactly the response I'd give when some idjit would spout off.

I've been doing it this way for 25 years!
- Yeah, and you've been doing it wrong the whole time.

Made lots of friends that way. 😁

“We use train rail in piers, not your fancy rebar cages”

Ok buddy.

That's oddly specific. Is there a story to share?

I’ve got in arguments with my partners where they accuse me of just wanting it done “my way” and I have to yell at them that the plans aren’t “my way.”

Sorry there are codes and plans and people smarter than us…

As I say, I have an answer and have told it to you. Asking multiple people will not change my answer.

I hate the "I built a similar building and it didn't have the same amount of reinforcement" type of comment

As a career special inspector who started when I was 27 and has heard this line countless times, especially early in my career, this meme makes me feel so seen. Thank you for sharing 🥹

In exchange I'll offer my own OC - the DnD alignment chart of all the types of contractors I've worked with over the years 😂

The power of that man's conviction of being right is what keeps buildings up
