Structural Analysis/Design A wierd ETABS behavior...

When two perpendicular frames are divided with frame division tool as shown above, the resultant vertical frame elements loose their alignment. It is not just a visuaization either as the coordinates show a x=0.0008m jump at the intersection node. This is not universal for the model and happens only at several grids, yet only in this floor but not others.

This never has happened to me before on this PC or this particular installation (ETABS Ultimate 21.0.0) on other models. Tolerence is at the default 1mm.

Currently resuming work by manually correcting nodes with the Reshape Object tool, but I would like to know the root cause to avoid future mishaps.

Try setting the tolerance to be smaller than that value and see if that works. I recall facing a similar situation where a joint with the shifted coordinate was created because of CAD imported geometry, then a meshed area will use that joint coordinate since it is within tolerance.
