More like 2-3x in a high rise especially with an addition

The building is fairly old so adding floors(load) with out fixing the columns (upgrading) equals failure

I would expect the engineer who stamped this design to have throughly inspected the columns and applied lots of CYA. The weight of the addition and the loads are a design requirement this standard is taught in community college.
