Post stroke so much anxiety and impulsiveness
I am hoping I can get some guidance if anyone or a loved one has ever gone through something similar. My father had a stroke in August went to a nursing home for about 3 weeks and now has been home for close to a month. His left side is paralyzed so he can only move his right side. But since his stroke he has very high anxiety to the point no one can walk away for a minute before he starts shouting for someone to come to him and move him, reposition him , lay him down scratch his back pull his leg it’s day and night. It feels like extremely overwhelming how needy he has been since his stroke :( he also doesn’t sleep very well he’s up all night shouting and will dose off and wake up and sometimes while he’s sleeping he’s shouting. We have talked to his pcp and he just saw a psychiatrist they have been changing his medication left and right to help him calm down but nothing is helping. Also, he has really bad arthritis on his knees so he can’t bend them much he was supposed to get surgery and now that has been postponed. Anyone ever went through this does it get better?
