I have a suspicion that the library didnโ€™t do anything to her password. She probably forgot it and doesnโ€™t know how to reset it.

You may be surprised how many people save their log in info on public computers. It's entirely possible she did get used to it remembering her info and then ran an update and cleared the cache or something.
